UD down 15 with 11 minutes to go. UD hasn't scored in about 6 minutes.

UD is taking one on the chin. Down by 17 and fading fast.

1st place!

URI could help their resume with a road win against SJU. Not so much. Down 44-27 at half.

Here we go again. The scrubs who sucked in the non-con now magically find their games and screw up others.

Of course, it doesn't take much to screw up u dump and the midget.

At least UMess beat Kansas.

Just what I was thinking. Now we see the resurgence of UMass, SJU and Temple.

Seriously, why can't UD and Rhody do anything in conference? UD's is especially painful, against a 5-8 UMass team. Ugh.

We need to do some kind of merge. The NCAA needs to allow the A10 to match UD's non-con performance with St. Joe's in-conference, and URI's non-con performance with Temple's in-conference performance. We'd then have three NCAA worthy teams going into the tourney.

I LOVE it. Strength of Schedule exposed. Sorry Dayton, you STILL suck.

Check out the scoring for UMass... this is crazy

http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=290100113

I'm not sure I've seen a scoring disparity like that. 4 guys with 15+ points. 4 more points from one player. Zero for everyone else.

I've got mixed feelings about this game. As fun as it is to see UD slip up, this type of stuff is not good for the A10.

Can you really be surprised? They have a SOS of around 200. They are vastly overrated

URI/SJU turning into a game. SJU leads by 4. 8:44 to go.

Hold on, URI is on a 22-9 run and is within 4 of the lead, 53-49.

I'm listening to the radio feed. 1 point St. Joe's lead. Rhody ball. 1:45 to go.

Baron just hits 2 free throws for URI to tie the game with 36 seconds. St. Joe's ball.

xuab

Oops 5 second call. Now Rhody ball. Still with 36 seconds.

xuab

SJU gets the ball...misses the shot and makes the tip. Reviewing the clock to see if it made it on time.

Basket is not good... onto OT. St. Joe's gave up what was once a 19 point lead.

Tie game... 56 (or so) seconds left. SJU ball. I just saw on the hawks board that SJU has lost 8 straight OT games.

xuab
01-10-2009, 04:18 PM
Tie game still. 8.5 seconds left. Rhody in-bounding the ball. Heading to double OT. Also, Rhody has a player named Will Martell - confusing on the radio when they talk about him and Phil Martelli.

I love that UD lost. They were all excited about a 14-1 start, but they only played 2 teams (Marquette and Creighton) and a team that lost their top guard (Miami Oh) the rest were cup cakes....UD will be lucky if they finish at .500 in the league play....

It is 4:24 and I still hate UC and and UD

They are so gay

Tied again. 1:03 to play. Rhody just hits a 3 to tie.

xuab

14.2 seconds. Tie game. SJU ball and SJU timeout.

xuab
01-10-2009, 04:34 PM
OMG... SJU hits a 3 and then Rhody answers with a desperation 3 at the buzzer. On to triple OT.

xuab
01-10-2009, 04:42 PM
SJU up by 4 and Jim Baron just gets T'd up. That should be game. St. Joe's misses both FTs.

xavierj
01-10-2009, 04:45 PM
St. Joe has played 5 guys at least 48 minutes and their 6th man gets 14, thats it that is all they have played. No wonder they blow they only have 5 capable players.

xuab
01-10-2009, 04:47 PM
This game is nuts. Rhody hits a 3 to bring it within 2 and Baron Sr calls a TO, but they didn't have one, so they get another technical. SJU makes 1. Rhody ball - SJU up 3. Now SJU up 5 with 49 seconds to play.

Surprised? After last year, I guess nothing should surprise me with UD. I did think that they were the 2nd best team in the conference.

In non-con action, Tulsa beats Charlotte easily 65-50... gotta get those last losses booked in preparation for conference season.

Duquesne beats the Bonnies. GW is losing to Richmond at home 23-5 with 6:30 left in the first half.

Update: Richmond up 34-14 at the half.

I'm really pleased with the way Duquesne has played this year (as well as Bona). I'm not saying I'd trade for Ron Everhart, but still...they will give some teams fits in conference play.

Anyone know why the UD UMass game was in Springfield instead of Amherst?

Massachusetts moved the Dayton game about 30 minutes from its campus in Amherst to the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., to showcase the facility in hopes of hosting the 2010 Atlantic 10 tournament there. The Minutemen hadn't played a game at the 6,700-seat arena since 2005.

Dayton, which set attendance records when it hosted the league tourney in 2003 and '04, also put in a bid.

First-year A-10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade, who attended the game, said athletic directors will begin preliminary discussions with each potential host later this month and will decide in late March on a tourney locale for 2010, '11 and '12.

The 2009 tourney will be held again in Atlantic City, N.J.

"With every site that has a bid in, there's pros and cons," McGlade said. "We literally are across the board in terms of the types of facilities. There hasn't been a clear direction either way."

UD is one of the few schools that can provide a big-time atmosphere for the event, but other schools balk at giving one team a home-court advantage.

"It's a philosophical decision," McGlade said. "You talk about the competitive equity with the team actually playing in their own facility, as opposed to being in a neutral facility for everyone ... It's really going to be the athletic directors and individual institutions who will make the decision."

Springfield would be okay by me. It's an awful site for 99% of fans who might actually consider attending. But it's close to me.

I can think of very few host locations that would cause me to not attend the tourney - Springfield might be one of them.
