View Full Version : Will The A10 refs be as bad as I expect them to be?

Now that X is about to start into our conference schedule, we are about to be subjected to Atlantic Ten referrees for (nearly) every game.
I am not enthused, to say the least. I can honestly say that as a whole I have absolutely no confidence in the consistency of the A10 refs. It's not about making bad or good calls, it's about being consistent, and I expect none of it from any of the conference games. When is this conference going to get better refs?
I HATE dayton.

seems like this year we have gotten the same couple of horrible refs at multiple games. The ones I can remember are "no calling charge ref aka bald ref and "late caller" aka slow ass running gray hair guy. One of them or both of them seem to be refing our games or maybe they all just suck. Lets hope for good refs tonight against SLU...keeping my fingers crossed but expecting the worse.

Thor you are wise to expect terrible officials. This way you will not be surprised when the suck exudes from the 3 idiots we are going to see tonight.
I will do my best to let them know how bad they are tonight and encourage you to do the same.

Good or bad officiating, you have to take advantage of it.
Refs love to call fouls. It is their raison d'etre. Playing Butler, the refs were so whistle-happy that they were whistle-gay. Yet Xavier did nothing to turn it to their benefit.
Take the ball toward the basket and you will get a call most of the time. Even Holloway flying toward the rim with his Mo McAfee impersonation gets the call more often than not. Rack up fouls, make shots, win.

Well said. But yes, the A10 refs are never impressive. At least we don't have Horizon League refs...
I'm hoping the stripes allow the players to decide the outcome of the game tonight.

We just don't like having calls go against us. That one midget ref, Higgins, is somehow considered one of the better refs in the NCAA's. Whenever he refs one of our games, everyone is on here saying how bad he is. The same with the no talent ass clown that didn't call the Oden foul at the end of the ohio state game. He's considered a "good ref" too.

I personally know one ref. I"m not sure about all refs, but they are not assigned to just one league. The one I know refs in the Big East, MAAC, MAC, A10, and Big 10. I think it's more of a regional thing (where they live), than anything else.

I must reiterate here, good or bad refs are not what I am worried about. I simply want consistency. If they call one thing on one end, but not on the other, then that is what can royally screw up a game.
Teams and coaches cannot adjust to inconsistent referreeing, because they never know what is going to happen or what is going to be called from end to end. If the refs are bad, fine, be bad, but be bad on both ends, the point I simply want is consistency so that the teams on the floor can adjust accordingly to how the refs are going to call the game.

Stop making sense. Go out and have a couple of beers and come back at 2am. That's when you're post really are off the wall.

Simply put if the refs were doing their job you wouldn't notice them. The UC game is a great example of this. Anybody ever see Tim Higgins in hi-def? He looks like Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer. And the BU game is another example. Let the players play and don't make it personal with the coaches.

100% correct. I ref SAY soccer and I always tell folks that if I do my job well, people shouldn't notice me.
