I root for Boston College - my brother went their for his bachelor's and law degree. Incidentally, BC is up by 5 at UNC - 12 minutes to go, lots of time, I know.

I root for Wake because Skip was my favorite Xavier coach. Rest in peace.

I root for St. Joes because I like their program and I still get a laugh out of Martelli's comments about Stan last year.

I root for whoever's playing the Bearkittens and WVA.

Anybody else have surrogate teams they support?

I have a up and down love for IU. It is back up now that Sampson is gone and they have donated two players to X. I started liking them when Knight was there.

I root for Wake and most of the A-10 as well when X is not involved.

I sort of like Oklahoma because again Sampson is gone and I like Jeff Capel.

I root for UCLA because John Wooden is the man and I loved their national championship team with the O'Bannons, Cameron Dollar, Toby Bailey, George Zidek, and Tyus Edney.

Agree on Wake and St. Joes.

I root for Vandy because they actually have kids who go to class and can't fake their way through. I also played High School basketball games on that court. Why Xavier and Vandy never play each other, I have no idea.

Loyola Chicago, because I invested a ton of tuition money there. Ohio U because I invested a ton of tuition money there. Xavier because I invested a ton of tuition money there....uh,

Oh yeah, other schools.....

I grew up in Central NY. I've always been a big fan of the Cuse.

IU and Florida I try to follow. I root for North Carolina, but not any kind of big fan.

Actually grew up a big Georgetown fan, but the Muskies stole my heart when I was a teenager so I now root for the Hoyas as a distant second.

I also root for Villanova.

Man, do I love Gonzaga...

Other than X opponents, I don't root for any other teams. I do pull for Miami to win the MAC and do well in the NCAA's when they get there.

Maryland in all sports. Georgetown in basketball because they have a lot of local kids I remember from high school. Michigan in football because I grew up going to their training camps and games. Anybody playing Notre Dame. Anybody playing Ohio State.

What are these other teams of which you speak?

Marquette, Dad taught there for 27 years and '93 Grad School for me after '91 degree from X. Parents had season tickets and I went to a lot of games as a kid.

I love that they just beat UC by 34! Suck it Bearcats!

Wake Forest for reasons stated above by others

I don't know about anyone else, but my competitive nature comes out and forces me to watch a game and pick a team from the beginning. Not just basketball, but all sports.

I was watching the NFL playoffs yesterday, and since my teams are out of the running (Browns and Packers), I had to pick either the Ravens or the Dolphins. I don't like Miami, so I was pulling for Baltimore. Second game comes along, and I was pulling for the Eagles. Next week, I will probably pick against them depending on the match-up.

College Basketball teams I will never pull for:
-Syracuse
-Duke
-UC
-Dayton
-USC
-Florida
-Ohio State
-Michigan
-Notre Dame
-Bowling Green
-UK
-Anyone ranked higher than X

I grew up a huge DePaul fan here in Chicago. Pre-Jordan, the Blue Demons were the best ticket in town. I was only 5 when they went to the Final Four, but that was the year I got hooked on them. I also used to go to Ray Meyer basketball camp, it was an awesome experience unlike any other basketball camp out there.

There program is going the wrong direction now, they need a new coach and a new AD so they can compete in the Big East.

Creighton - it's like a less-successful version of Xavier in my hometown. It's a pretty chill relationship.

Xavier would be like the hot girlfriend who I spend a lot of money on. Occasionally she will put me on a devastating emotional rollercoaster. But she still gets my motor going, and any financial or emotional trauma is worth it.

Creighton would be the little sister I flirt with every now and again just for giggles.

I root for UGA because I'm from Athens, my grandfather went there in the '30's (and yes, he was a male cheerleader back then), and Vince Dooley is my godfather. Big UGA fan, ever since I was a little kid.

I also follow UT-Chattanooga b/c my dad went there and played football and basketball there in the late 50's when it was still just U. of Chattanooga.

In the A-10, I like St. Joe's. Love Martelli, and I think that program does a very nice job.

I follow Vandy b/c I lived in Nashville for many years, wife went there for grad school, and I like the direction in which the football is headed. Love their court, too.

Wake for obvious reasons, but also b/c my best friend from HS went there.

I root for Ohio State in football because I am from Ohio, born and raised a Buckeye fan, and X does not have a D-1 team.

College basketball, I generally root for the A10 and for most smaller conference teams in the tourney. St. Joe's used to be my favorite member of the A10 besides X, but then I got tired of the illegal picks.
