General Question: Most UK fans in the northern kentucky area which is where i live really like Xavier. Honestly it has seemed to me that UK and X fans from the area hate UC, atleast in NKY... Now I know that some UK fans are annoying but come on all true basketball fans are... I read alot on these boards and Uk boards and its all a bunch of the same stuff... UK may talk more about history but its just a fact... UK has more basketball history than most schools... Thats not a knock on X or any other school... I love Xavier but reading these boards about bashing UK pisses me off LOL.... No but really I guess I'm just wondering why everyone hates UK basketball so much... We say no more crazy or passionate things than you all do...

I was born in a ND family and in basketball we were taught to hate UK and Joe B Hall and you know what???? I still hate UK, their fans think their sh*t doesn't stink and that they are the greatest team every year....But I have cheered for UK when they play UC or Ohio State...So let me recap, I hate UK, UC and Ohio State.....I love this board...

I guess... I'm just saying there is no difference between Xavier fans and UK fans... I know both, I read these boards and people say just as ridiculous things on this site (which I love too) than they do on UK sites... thats all im saying... there is no difference....
I guess... I'm just saying there is no difference between Xavier fans and UK fans...
No offense, but I find that difficult to believe.

I could go back on this very site and find some CRAZY quotes that Xavier fans have said... I know that doesnt represent all X fans but neither do the crazy comments by die hard UK fans. I guess I was just wondering why the hate... it just seems like UK and X should get along but maybe thats just because I love both teams lol

Not.......even........close
xu_fan, I have to disagree as well. I am actually a UK grad ('06). X has always and always will be my team (since my first Gardens game vs. Evansville in '92), but UK was a distant 2nd favorite throughout my teenage years.
That all changed throughout my four years in Lexington. UK basketball fans definitely act like their sh!t don't stink. I took quite a bit of crap from my roommates and UK fan friends on how I could root for a "mid-major" such as X. That along with the way fans treated Tubby drove me crazy since I was and still am a big Tubby Smith fan.
I understand UK's great tradition, and Rupp Arena is an awesome place to see a game, but UK fans are as arrogant as they come; however, recently I have noticed many of them coming back down to earth.
The 2004 Run was absolutely sweet for me at UK. Plus all those UK folks were pulling for X in the elite eight (really only because we were playing Duke). But if I heard one more time how X would not even make the tournament if they had to compete in the SEC, I was going to just blow up. Yeah, bring that argument up to me if X ever has a football team, but do not tell me X would not make the tourney if they had to play in the overly competitive SEC in basketball.
X is on its way to hopefully achieving a history similar to that of UK, but I feel X fans will always have that humbleness about them that UK fans cannot seem to acquire. It's one of the reasons I cringe a little bit every time people on here talk about moving to a Big 6 conference. I love where our Muskies are right now.

I don't dislike the UK fans and program any more than I do those of UNC, Duke, and Kansas. As far as their programs are concerned, I want Xavier to be spoken of in the same context as them. If we ever reach that point, I expect my fecal matter will come up smellin' like roses too!
