"Clearly there's the lesson to be learned here," said zoo spokesman Sam Singer. "The lesson is that it's not a good idea to drink, it's not a good idea to be high on dope, and it's not a good idea to taunt a man-eating tiger."
Classic.

Keep everything in that quote but replace "man-eating tiger" with "doughnut-eating douche" and you pretty much sum up my relationship with Chief Couch in the early 90's.

So now tiger taunting gives a bad name to dope? Who doesn't wake-n-bake while watching Sunrise Earth?

Also from the article:
"One study concluded that as many as one if four zoo visitors razz the animals in some way, and large predators like tigers are a prime target."
What??? I know they say "as many as one in four" but there is no way in hell that it is anywhere near one in four. I've been to many zoos plenty of times. I don't ever recall anyone taunting the animals. If 25% of zoo visitors taunted the animals don't you think that would be a huge problem? It is impossible that 25% of people taunt and "razz" the animals. I'd like to see that study. Ain't no way.

Xeus is a big animal lover. In fact he wants to ban the phrase "deer in the headlights."

I won't deny that I have gone to the Zoo, Kings Island, The Beach, and an Omnimax show drunk.

Wouldn't it be easier to list the places you haven't gone drunk?

I'm also hoping to ban "beating a dead horse" , "I don't have a dog in this fight" and "monkey see, monkey do".

Man, I think you're the cat's meow but you may need to get off your high horse. You may be barking up the wrong tree trying to scrub these animal cliches. It is a dog-eat-dog world out there. Personally, I think there are other fish in the sea, much bigger fish to fry.
Hope this doesn't make you as mad as a hornets nest... I didn't mean to open up a can of worms.

Seriously, I thought zoos created environments that protected visitors regardless of how pissed off the animals get.
But now I know better. The animals have a special moral role at a zoo of attacking and killing troubling, dope smoking, young immigrants.

ATL,
Love the Officer Couch comment. I didn't even go to X buy still managed to have a run in with the man when I visited a buddy of mine in the dorms. I left my car in the parking lot (with an O'Connor sports center parking pass that I thought would work like a charm); he ticketed and booted it within two hours, and when I tried to talk my way out of it, he got in my face and gave me some line about how XU didn't support "cohabitation". Never in my life have I encountered someone as unreasonable and condescending as that man; and the best thing was that he was giving me way too much credit. I wasn't even close to scoring that night; if memory serves (and it probably doesn't) I was having some sort of a mid 80's Britpop jam session on acoustic guitar with some old high school friends in between watching episodes of SpaceGhost on adult swim. If only I was really as immoral/cool as Chief Couch imagined me to be.....

In truth, the tiger didn't actually get to eat the man. You hear about tigers killing people, but rarely about tigers eating people, so I wonder if "man-killing tiger" wouldn't be more accurate.
Makes you wonder if this section of the board shouldn't be entitled, "Out on the Maul".
