View Full Version : Anyone in the office today?
BBC 08

Is anyone in the office today? I'm here at my place with about 4 other people total. Luckily I get to leave at 3 to head home to Louisville but since I've only worked here for 3 months I don't get any vacation days.
If anyone is in the office, this is the official thread for things to distract you from the fact that you are in the office. I'll start it off:
www.hulu.com - great place to watch movies and TV shows, I think I'm going to watch Lost in Translation today.
What does everyone else have to distract us from being in the office?

I blew my vacation during golf season. Off tomorrow, Christmas and Friday, though. 3 day work week next week.

Began my two week vacation at 3:31 PM last Friday. Don't go back until January 6. Leaving for New Orleans December 26. The rest of the time? Sleeping, eating and drinking.

No, well techically, I guess I am in my office. When you have a home office, you are in the office even though you aren't working. I am not working, but in the office.
And yes I am going to start drinking early for the game tonight.

I am presently "working for home". I knew that no one would be in the office, so why bother driving in.

Boring.
What? No canoodling with women or musical headbanging? :)

Crickets here today, but I didn't want to burn a PTO day when all I am going to do is screw around anyway.

I am in the office today and until 3 tomorrow and then off until Monday morning. Will do dinner with family tomorrow night where we will swap some presents, and then I am headed out of town for out-of-town canoodling. It is very different from in-town canoodling. When I get back, I intend to OD on football.

Like Nuts, have a home office. Not expecting much activity this week, but got 3 orders today. Looks like I'll be here a while...

This is kind of like the comments on the Enquirer site. There you go to read about X and a bunch of trolls comment about how over-rated the team is or how great UC is.
I read the first post on this thread thinking I'd find some consolation for being stuck in the office until 3 pm tomorrow and a couple of goobers jump in to tell us how they've been off since Friday and are sitting around drinking enjoying themselves! I mean, I know you are some of the more respected posters on this board but DAMN! Just RUB IT IN why don't you.
Merry Christmas, dammit!:D

That's kind of my philosophy around holiday PTO. Why burn a day when you're not going to do anything that day anyway?

Friday was my last work day for the year. I spent about 10 hours yesterday driving back to my hometown. About 6 of those hours were spent on roads like this...... It sucked!

I'm working today, tomorrow and then next week Mon-Wed. I know I have posted this before, but one of the most unique sites I have ever heard of:
dumpstersluts.com (definitely not safe for work, probably not for home either!)
Also, check this one out:
The Living Peter Pan!! (http://www.pixyland.org/peterpan/)
It will definitely make you feel better about yourself!

Oh.
Wow.
A 53 year old man who dresses up as Peter Pan and likes to think of himself as an androgynous 5 year old. And he's got a fiancee. And pixie friends. And it isn't Michael Jackson (but I bet they have a lot in common).
So not right.

I work in security consulting and I'm busy as can be with all the parties and such. Drove to Lancaster and back this morning. Was back by noon, then had 4 conference calls. Hung up on the last one at about 6 PM. I teach some martial arts classes a few nights a week, but right now is between sessions, so at least all my nights are free.

Being a dayton fan, I am sure the martial arts come in handy in that ghetto up there.

Personal trainer? Nah. But I know a guy who is, probably makes more than the both of us combined. I drive around and essentially become a liaison between a client and a security company, because most security companies just send a few guys over and have them stand in a corner. I make sure they're in the right corners, are fully trained, and the like. I do ok.
I volunteer at the night job because I love the martial arts, like working with kids, and my best friend and fellow former amateur MMA fighter runs the studio.
What is it that you do, stone caster?

No problem working Christmas Eve - full day's pay for half day's work.
I have actually gotten a good chunk of work done this morning. Head off for Christmas feeling like I earned it - leave it all on the office floor.
Plus, I have listened to Christmas In Hollis about five times. That helps.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Miss Muskie sent me a text at 10 am asking if I wanted to come out for drinks. (10 am, seriously!) I declined the invitation. Her kids have gone to their dad's for Christmas, and she is planning on partying. My parents have flown into town for the holidays. The Dane is cooking a traditional Danish Christmas Eve dinner tonight. Better prep everyone on how we are going to deal with the buxom blonde that is likely to crash dinner. I asked her not to. That means that she will.

Union job.
Don't know if you are serious or jabbing me, but you made me spray water on the computer screen.
The only thing I want to do with unions is obliterate them, subtly with thermonuclear weapons.

I'm not in the office today, but am working at home today.
We usually finish up around 2AM on Christmas Eve, so I certainly don't mind working it. The day tends to be quiet and I don't get bothered much, so it's a good day to work. Honestly, between Christmas Eve and New Years, the bus is empty and the office is empty, so it's a break without taking vacation. Very nice.
Of course, it's amazing I'm still singing the praises of the bus after spending 3.5 hours on it getting home last night :)

Yes, I am working today, but it is well worth it to trade the day with a fellow firefighter in my house who has little ones. Plus we eat great today, the chickey is swinging by with treats, and life is good in every way. Life definitely is good.

I would imagine it is a nice day to work for a firefighter. Not to mention it is likely what double time? Triple time? As long as you don't have too many runs, there are a lot worse ways to spend the holiday.

JAX, thank God you didn't rub it in by letting everyone know it's presently 76 degrees outside right now in the 'ville. It's depressing to be this warm at Christmas. Don't worry guys, if misery loves company, my back is so messed up that I haven't been able to golf for a couple months. I'm counting on acupuncture at this point to save me from the knife.
Back on topic: home office, screwing around reading XH.
To throw a little credit Adam's way, my children were in Tae Kwon Do when they were young. The self-defense and physical aspects of it our obvious, but the other values and discipline gained from it are exceptional. I wish I had pursued it when I was younger.
Excuse me while I now go attack the Christmas cookies - again.

Dash,
It is pretty unfortunate that Thursday, Friday and Saturday has been an average of 78 degrees with minimal cloudage. Guess we're just going to have to put up with it!
