It's too bad. I hope whatever is preventing him from playing somewhere stops.

3 other players besides Basset were deemed academically ineligible. UAB is down to 6 scholarship players.

RUMOR...
From IU, Basset is leaving UAB becuase he wants to be in the midwest, closer to his family. He had no problems and stayed out of trouble at UAB, he is strictly transfering becasue he wants to be in the Midwest... (cough) xavier (cough)

I have absolutely no interest in Bassett. He's got way too much baggage and we're OVERLOADED at the position he plays. Plus how many years can he have left eligibility wise? X or his next Division I school is his Third stop.

When I heard about this half the guys were saying they heard he was in trouble, half he wasn't, regardless, we don't need him IMHO, only way my mind will change is if Sean brings him in.

Ohio University has added ex-Indiana and former UAB guard Armon Bassett.
Bassett averaged 10.4 points and 3.2 assists in two seasons at Indiana before being dismissed for, according to sources, failing multiple drug tests.
Bassett landed at UAB, where he was sitting out this season due to transfer rules, but mutually agreed to leave after just one semester without ever playing a game for Mike Davis.
Ohio coach John Groce has had a relationship with Bassett for years – largely due to the fact that Groce’s step-brother, Travis Steele, coached Bassett in AAU a few years back.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome Armon Bassett into the Ohio basketball family,” Ohio head coach John Groce said. “I’ve been close with Armon and his family for a number of years, and I’m confident that he’ll be a great addition to the program, both on and off the court."

So when is he eligible? Next fall? Or next Spring?
