Plus the sky is falling and we should take away most of the players on scholarship, just ask half the posters over on UDPride right now.
It was just one of those games, Creighton shot it well early, Dayton dug themselves a hole they couldn't get out of.
Good night for the rest of the league though. Good win over Ohio.

I was hoping the Flyers would win that game--would have been a good one for the A10.
On the plus side, perhaps it will temper some of the talk of UD going undefeated until January...

I should let everyone know when I pick UD to win because that's surely when they don't show up. Story of the Gregory era, all balls, no cock. FUD.

good night for the a-10 otherwise, charlotte won @ Miss St., U-mass gets their 2nd win (yippie) and Duquesne won.

I know it would have been good for the A-10 but I just can't get myself to root for the Flyers. Their delusional fans drive me nuts.
X has had its own difficulty w/ Creighton at Creighton so this loss doesn't shock me in the least bit. I was smiling when I saw the score.
It's incredibly difficult to win at Creighton. I think Xavier had only been able to do it once during our extended series with the Blue Jays. Don't know what it is about that place, but it always seems to bring out the worst in visiting teams.

Dayton?
They are a non-factor. We are a top 10 team. They haven't earned the right as a program to be discussed on this board, unless we are playing them. Do we commonly discuss San Francisco, Utep, or Loyola (IL)? Same sort of programs, no reason to bring them up.

Creighton shot 52% from three. Tonight was a bad night for UD. Put those together and you get a dump trucking.
Adversity introduces a man to himself, I firmly believe that. Everyone takes it on the chin once or twice a season. We'll find out what this addition of the Flyers is about based on how they respond to this.

Well, one thing is that teams seem to pretty universally feel they get homered there.

Creighton shot well from three, but I was expecting that because MVC teams thrive on having 3 to 4 guys in their lineup who can really stroke it to offset their size and athletic disadvantages. What surprised me is UD getting smoked on the boards. That is not something I would expect.

Box Score (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=283450156)
Chris Wright's free throw shooting is way down this year. Didn't mattered in this game, but worth keeping an eye on. We've got a lot of fouls to give.
21 points by Booker Woodfox? Wasn't that the name of one of the Berkeley tree protesters?

I thought Creighton gave X a very good game last year, considering they were pretty young and the game was at Cintas.

CU fans are still pissed at us because X wanted to do a home-and-home with SIU (which later got changed to Butler) instead of themselves. Xavier played them 6 years out of 7; for some reason they think they're entitled to play the Muskies every season.
I wouldn't blame Dayton if they discontinued their series with Creighton and picked another MVC team (Wichita St, Bradley?) in lieu of the Bluejays.

Maybe it's that fact that visiting teams have to travel to Cow Patty, Nebraska to play there. Apparently, even tv signals can't reach.

I am not surprised at all, and in fact, I made a nice little bit of money on this one. Easy money, in fact. They are a shell of a team, winning with smoke and mirrors, and when it comes down to it, they are missing some very, very important parts that are needed for consistent winning. For chrissakes the jet runs point. Yeegawds.
I HATE dayton.

Still, have you seen Dayton's schedule? It's cake. Considering how bad the A-10 is and the cake-ish remainder of UD's OOC slate, the Flyers could get through the regular season with like 4 losses.

Adam,
Has there been any talk lately about the possibility of starting Lowry, going with a 3-guard set, and bringing Little off the bench to spell Wright?

I would rather have Dayton go undefeated in their out of conference schedule than UC.
I have way more hatred towards UC.

Hey Adam if I may add to that...
Has there been any discussion of closing up shop and putting a big "For Lease" sign on UD Arena and going back to what you guys do best, making shitty commercials?
You could have a commercial that says: "Hey we tried our best and still failed miserably. The moral of the story is never try at all. But hey we got cool sunglasses, check it!"
Seriously, fill me in, I'm dying to know.
Not really.

Adam,
Has there been any talk lately about the possibility of starting Lowry, going with a 3-guard set, and bringing Little off the bench to spell Wright?
Probably not. Lowery still has a lot of playground JUCO in him, but when he's on he's really good (Marquette, last night). Right now with Lowery it's about consistency. He's got all the tools, but needs to figure out how to use multiple tools at the same time. And for all the crap London takes, much of it deservedly, he can be really good at times, too.
Little is not a starting type player, and BG needs to realize that. He creates mismatches and can really be dangerous in a 6th man role. He didn't win the 6th man of the year award by accident. That's his perfect role.
But the one guy I want playing more? Mickey Perry. He's putting up 5 points a game in only 14 minutes, and he's scored double figures 2 of the last 3 games. He's really good defensively, too. He's a junior, but playing his first real season of basketball in 4 years. I think he may be ready to break out a bit.

Chris Wright: 8 rebs., 2 ast., 1 blk., 1 TO, 0 stl., 8 pts.
Derrick Brown: 3 rebs., 5 ast., 2 blk. 2 TO, 1 stl., 18 pts.

Last night was the first time that I got to see Chris Wright in person and I was completely underwhelmed, often to the point of not realizing he was on the floor. He did not seem to want to take the game over even though Creighton had no one that could adequately defend him. Wright almost always had 4-5 inches on the man guarding him, yet seemed content to be a perimeter player. There is no way, in a road contest against a quality opponent, that he should have only taken 5 shots.

Wright is not a dominant offensive player in the half court...yet. He's good and improving, and can score in multiple ways, but he's got a way's to go. He's only now developing a mid-range and back to the basket attack.
His dominance comes in blocking and altering shots, on the boards, and on the run. He's an amazing athlete that missed most of his freshmen season. He's a stud, and will only get better.
UD's offense as a whole is predicated on their defense. When they don't force turnovers and shut down the opponents offensive rebounding, they will struggle to score until they start hitting perimeter shots at a better clip. I think they will before long, but who knows. Hopefully the back to back gimme W's at home gets their shooting minds back on track.

DC is on fire of late. His pure hatred of all things Dayton and UC is to be commended.

He needs to develop a jump shot to become a dominant offensive player just like Brown had to develop a jump shot when he got to XU. Fortunately, DB had 3 years (1 redshirt year and 2 years as a role player) to develop that jumper.
Wright is being asked to carry UD's offense before he is ready.

UD will find a way to lose more than 4 games. Trust me on this one.
