On CBSC....

Don't watch it. It will piss you off. First, dumb*** keeps calling X Ecksavier, repeatedly, and Gillen, who is on the panel, DOESN'T CORRECT HIM. Then, the same jack*** says that X is the best midmajor in the last 20 years. Not once. Not twice, but a whole section is focused upon the best midmajor....

Slap in the face, over and over, then over again.

It's 2 AM, and I am pissed.

I HATE dayton.

I got a real chuckle when I saw this special. The 3 hosts, including Gillen, were obviously unprepared. It must have been filmed a couple weeks back, too, because they were still talking about how dangerous UMass should be this year.

The guy in the middle wasted no time calling the A10 mid-major, Xavier mid-major, calling Xavier ex-avier like 50 times (even though the other two didn't, he never picked up on that), and even giving this back-handed complement to UMass (I think) - "They have great guards - mid-majors always have great guard play - that's how they can give the high majors fits." Can you imagine the reactions when McGlade and Bobinski saw this thing? WOW! I bet someone got a talking to. I did notice that the "ex-avier" guy finally got the pronunciation right a few plays into the Auburn game.

Mark Lyons called Xavier Ex-Zavier even after he committed. Greg Anthony is from the east coast and that is how they usually pronounce it on the east coast. Also if you watched the Auburn game on CBS college sports he did the broadcast, and seemed to have learned the proper way to say the name.

What I dont get about the Eggs-avier pronunciation is that no other X word I can think of in the entire English language is pronounced like it? There is no other word you can point to and say oh well thats how that word is pronounced so I got confused. It seems like idiocracy to me. If someone can think of a X word that is pronounced with an Eggs- at the beginning of it I will eat crow but until then I assume anyone who pronounces it that way is just plain old dumb.

I think the confusion comes from people named Xavier being said as Eggs-avier.

Think Charles Xavier from X-men...almost everyone knows X-Men growing up and he is Professor Eggs-avier.

My friend's name is Xavier. He said he would never pronounce it Zavier.
I think that's how most people feel about it...based on the name pronunciation in America.

Fans shouldn't worry about it.
It's nicer that they are talking about you at all versus nothing. (On the other hand, it is the network's business to know the schools and details important to them.)

Why get bent out of shape when it comes to something they are ignorant about?
As long as XU's team is winning and representing itself well, things will turn that around.

BJ Raymond was just name Emergen-C (http://www.emergenc.com/) player of the week. This channels relationship with the A10 results in more pub than you see elsewhere. Emergen-C is good for you.

AX, That would be the Spanish pronunciation of the word. As in San Javier (Hov-e-air)

If the eggsavier sh!t really gripes your giggy, write and email cbs sports and let 'em know. Ask 'em please to have Gillen correct the ignorant bastards when they mispronounce it any of them...and as for the mid-major crap, that's just plain ignorant. Even Vitale doesn't categorize Xavier in that manner. :D
