View Full Version : One VERY upsetting thing from today's game.

After the game was over, I was listening to the post-game on 700WLW. In the background, I could hear the Xavier fans changing "WE ARE X - U, WE ARE X - U!......"
Are you serious? That's dayton's thing. If you have friends or family down there, please call them and tell them to never do that again.

I never really thought anyone owned that. It seems like pretty much every school has some variation of it.

I've never heard Dayton do it actually.
If anyone owns it, it's Penn State.
Who cares who does what? If people enjoy doing it, I'm not going to tell them to stop.

I've just always associated it with UD. Every Xavier dayton game i've ever been to, the dayton queers always start chanting that "we are UD" crap, and I hate it because of them.

I hate it because of UD and St. X students because that is the only cheer they know

I've heard X fans use that chant for 20 years. I have no problem with it but Dayton still sucks...that I agree.

I think Marshall would have something to say about that...

I realize we own UD, but have they really given up and started chanting "WE ARE XU?"

Watch it now, there are more Men for Others on this board than you may think.

Hey, it's a universal--UC was doing it back in '68...not 86, '68...So has every school in the known universe-except for Florida State and that Noxious faux Native American chant...

St. X has the most original cheers in the city.
I always thought our high school cheers trounced any pro or college ones I'd ever heard. They were clever, funny, sometimes just downright offensive, and always well received by the fans. I guess it's easy at an all guys schools when 95% of the kids are drunk assholes. Go team.

ND's been doing it for at least 30 years. That was one of their main rally cries. I don't hear much anymore (unfortunately ah, my Irish are a little rough.) and rightfully so.
Notre Dame thinks they started everything.

PMI, No. Did I say they started it. No. I said they've been doing it for thirty years (sorry, very, very bitter today). Anyway, I have to agree that the drunk fans of all boys schools come up with the best cheers (I went to Cov Cath, ok Ohio people pile on....but before you start just know that while we always lost to Moeller in football, I'm 7-1, it took a while to pull that together, in baseball).

I know back in the early to mid 80's we used it all the time during games, basketball too....

my first vivid memory of xavier basketball involves chanting "We are...X-U!" with all of the other X fans while exiting the Hoosier Dome after beating Georgetown in '90. so i have no problems with that chant at all. in fact, i welcome it!

They truly believe the melody to their Fight Song is original. It isn't. They stole it from Mozart (Piano concerto #6)..Believe me. Listen to it if you doubt.
Heck, I heard Oklahoma's fans doing it tonight. No big deal.:D

I haven't heard UD fans chant ANYTHING since the Carter administration.
Wear blue to games.
