Pirates have hijacked an oil tanker carrying $100 million worth of crude oil.
I wish I was a pirate. It would be far more interesting to tell people at reunions and such.
Arrr.
Should the US military get involved?

Should the US military get involved?
No. The military may be facing budget constraints, but piracy is not a viable, long-term source of funding.

If we do get involved we have to be very careful and very PC now that change is coming. Our pirates would be known as African-American Beard and their spooky, ghostly ship would be known as The African-American Pearl.

It is if the Saudi's will give a reward to whoever recaptures their boat.

Since I graduated with a Comm degree my friends say I should try and be a Somali Pirate Spokesman. I think it would be a sweet gig. Sail around the Indian Ocean, hijack oil tankers and cruise ships. That's the life for me. Forget working in Nashville, I'm off to Somalia.

You don't have to go far. There are parts of Nashville where you can feel like you're in Somalia. Trust me on that one.

Yes I am a pirate
400 years too late
The cannons don't thunder
There's nothing to plunder
I'm an over 40 victem of fate
Arriving too late
Ah all this pirate talk makes me want to sip some Captain and listen to some Buffett tonight. (I know some on this board hate JB, so please be civil if you care to respond).

There is a time and place for Buffet in my opinion, but Cincinnati in winter, when there are actually snow flurries and wind chill factors is not one of them.
To each their own, and if it makes you feel warm, I will not judge you.

I was thinking the same thing this afternoon. It would be a significant career change, but I think I might be able to stay based here in Cincinnati and just work my piracy gig on the Ohio River. Also, I played Mr. Smee in our sixth grade production of Peter Pan. I'm pretty sure my costume is around and likely still fits.
Thor, do you still have that boat your brother gave you? Is she seaworthy?

Capture the treasure, save the girl, and later watch X play. It's a good day's work.

It's sitting at a friends house, and yes it is seaworthy. Well, maybe river and lake worthy, but probably not "sea" worthy.
I am guessing I have one step on everyone else in becoming a pirate. Plus I have also helped to sink a boat in my recent past too, so there you go. (don't try to launch a boat at 3AM after a night of heavy drinking, especially if you don't put the drainplugs back in)
I HATE dayton.

Alright here is the Xavier Pirate line-up:
Thor - Captain (he owns the boat so it makes sense)
Xues - Second in Command (he played Smee, what more do you want from him)
BBC - Xavier Pirate Spokesman (My degree finally has a use)
XUGlow - He brings the Miss Muskie and her crew
Snipe - He brings the rum
Nuts, ATL, The Artist, Kahns, DC and the rest of the gang can just come along and hang out (unless you have a specific title or job in mind)

Jeff from Nashville is the official Xavier Hoops ESPN chat representative, hence the spokesman.

I have a policy against negative repping or I might have pulled the trigger over that one. That was just bad.

I'm with you on the policy. Come on Kahns, you're better than that. Things like that might get you kicked out of the Xavier Pirate Line-up.

Are we talking about modern day Pirates here...or do they suspect Dick Groat, Bob Friend, Ed Ott, et al. have something to do with this.?

We could bring Rod Scurry and Dale Berra and have a cocaine cruise.

I'm looking for a career change, and I've always wanted to be a pirate. I have the Pirates of the Carribean sheets to prove it. I'll accept a position as a general scallywag, with opportunity for advancement, of course. My specialty will be telling awesome jokes like this nugget:
Captain Th-arrrr walks into a bar with a steering wheel hanging out of the zipper of his pants. The bartender looks at him and says "hey buddy, you've got a steering wheel hanging out of your pants." To which Captain Th-arrrr replies "arrrr and it's driving me nuts."
Awesome idea, instead of being a scallywag, I could be an advanced scout/recruiter for our ship, the XHoopst-arrrrrr. I could go from port to port telling the tales of our ship (all my awesome pirate jokes) recruiting the best and brightest blue chip pirate prospects.
