Rhode Island at Duke

Anyone else interested to watch this game? Could be a good barometer for our much anticipated match up with Duke and to see if Rhody is any good. Hopefully they'll be able to keep it close throughout the game.

It's on ESPNU at 4:30.

Well, Rhody is up 9 only ten minutes into the game. They don't look out of place. I still doubt they'll win though.

Great effort by Rhody, but they still have the same issue Baron's URI teams have all seemed to have: when they need a stop, they can't get one. I think Duke scored everytime they had the ball from the five minute mark on.

Agreed, the entire 2nd half they couldn't get a stop to save their lives. Even when Duke missed a shot, URI couldn't get the rebound.

The announcers were pretty damn annoying. Must've been Duke employees.

Why do you think they went from 14-1 to the outhouse/NIT last year? Unlike Dayton, they couldn't use injuries as an excuse for their freefall.

Anybody else notice Singler jawing at Jimmy Baron in the 2nd half for no apparent reason? I haven't hated Duke much since Reddick left, but this has restoked my fire. I can't wait to play them; I have a feeling it's going to be a very fiery game

at the end of the game, baron was trying to take shots from inside the arc. STUPID. he didn't make one shot from inside the arc the whole game.

The rest of the A-10 figured out that you need to guard him with a bigger, stronger player. Coach K finally put Singler on him in the end and that made the difference.

Yeah, but he also had scheyer on him who is 3 inches taller than him and Baron had no issues raising up over him. Singler was definitely the equalizer, but there aren't going to be too many 6'8 A-10 players who can stay with him.

Anybody else notice the shot he had where he pump faked the defender and then hit the jumper? It was slightly to the right of the top of the key. I could have sworn his foot was well over the line, but they gave him 3 and didn't review it.

I don't know which shot was more impressive out of him, the DEEP one from the top, or the one from the left wing where he was falling out of bounds.

Rhode Island could have done something better on the final possession. That James kid had a great game and probably could have gotten a decent look while using Baron as a distraction.

And those may have been the two worst announcers to ever announce a college game. FYI...it's Singler...not Singular. That old dude announcer was kind of senile.

It's actually funny you say that. I'm not trying to start and argument with you, but my roommate and I both commented on how each time he made a ridiculous shot, he just ran down the court. Both of us agreed that we would have either stared, jawed, or done something toward the students if one of us were in that position.

I will say that I wasn't watching Baron every moment of the game, so it's possible I did miss something.

Can I hate on a Duke player on a Xavier board or do I need to ask permission first? Singler was jawing at a guy for no good reason while his team was down 5 at home to the 9th best team in A-10. I want us to beat the guy. Sue me.
