Cops have tough time finding sober driver for boy

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana state police said that after a mother was arrested for drunken driving, the three relatives who came to pick up her 1-year-old son also had all been drinking. A state trooper stopped a minivan for speeding early Saturday on U.S. 30 in Schererville in northwestern Indiana. He arrested the 24-year-old woman on a drunken driving charges.

The boy's father arrived later to pick him up, but officers determined he was intoxicated and also arrested him on a drunken driving charge.

Police said the boy's grandparents then arrived. Both of them also had been drinking, state police said, but the grandmother who was driving was not over the legal limit, so officers escorted them home with the child.

Thank goodness Grandma is a light drinker.

That story is awesome! Wow. And I thought my family drank.

Granny must hate getting picked on by the rest of the family for not hanging.

I'm gonna go with over since it will be 15 till he can drive. Once he gets that licence though, all bets off.

With the kind of parents that will 1) Drive drunk with a 1-year-old kid in the car and 2) Drive drunk to go pick up the 1-year-old kid, it's pretty likely that mom and dad will have that kid driving them home long before he's 15.

any way you look at it, the kid stands no chance. His destiny has been written in stone.

Great find KK...and I can say for certain that on many a christmas eve the smails clan could have suffered a similar fate. My grandmother used to walk around seving manhattans in a pitcher. That 85 pound german woman could knock em back with the best of em..

Over on DUI but under that he gets picked up for driving without a license and under the age limit as he attempts to take over for a drunken parent or grandparent.

He'll be drunk off his arse on his bicycle.

Firehose will probably be hanging on his back.
