That was a huge win for Cincinnati football. I really enjoyed watching the West Virginia fans rush back into the stadium only to see them lose!!
It looks like the game against Pitt in a couple of weeks will decide the Big East title.

Except I was opting for UC, not Louisville. But I'll take the bait. Didn't UL win a BCS game not long ago? What else does Louisville have? You can't go to Six Flags in December. Do they still have Andy "My Cousin Vinny Vertrees" and the Lousivlle Speedway?
I guess Louisville did give the world that criminal draft dodger who libs in the press portrayed as some icon. When in truth he was just frightened of the Nation of Islam.

Let me defend Fred Garvin for a moment here.
UC does have a great college football program. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.. are all on the decline. And schools like UC, Ohio university, Wright State, and Illinois State will take their spaces.
And lets admit it right now. Big East football is awesome. West Virginia has an incredible football program. Syracuse should eliminate their basketball program because the football team is so superior. And Louisville is simply awesome.
And I love to tailgate at UC. Not only do I anticipate the thrill of victory, but also the thrill of not getting mugged.

I am Cincinnati.
I don't hate UC. I just don't go out of my way, like you, to root for UC. I could care less, and it irks me when people like you would usurp X for UC in any form.
Deny it all you want, you would rather go to a UC football game over going to a Xavier basketball game. You admitted it. You freely enjoy saying that UC is part of who you are.
Well, I guess we are different then, because I am about Xavier in every facet, and I won't let another college undercut that in any way, wheras you obviously would.

Well kind of but it is not as bad as attending a UC game. UC IS the enemy, the abyss, the root of everything unholy in the world. I can feel the bile churning in my stomach just thinking about that cesspool.
You see the AC/DC concert would be considered a mistep (only if one had tix to an X game, otherwise I'll be there. They are friggin' awesome). Attending a UC game and not openly rooting for the other team? Have some respect for yourself. Show some integrity and pride.:D

I dont think the ACC is as bad as people think it is this year. Is there a top team that can play with the big boys? No, but the conference is pretty solid in its depth. Duke is even somewhat respectable this year. I would say the ACC is definitely better than the Big East and might be better from top to bottom than the Pac 10 this year.

Wow, UC in a BCS game would be hilarious. That should be the end of the BCS right there.

I'm excited by the possibility of (1) UC making the BCS and (2) UC being paired with the Buckeyes in the BCS. How will that happen?
Keep in mind these rules:
1. The BCS can only take two teams from a single conference.
2. The BCS is only required to take one non-BCS team that finishes in the top 12, not all non-BCS teams in the top twelve.
So here's the scenario. There are 10 open slots (Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, Championship)
Championship: Texas Tech v. Alabama (or some other Big XII v. SEC game)
Rose: Penn St. (B10 champ) v. USC (Pac 10)
Sugar: Florida (SEC connection) v. Utah (non-BCS)
Orange: ACC rep (they have a connection to Orange) v. Big XII (the Orange has a long history with the former Big 8, with Okla. and Neb. going there a lot)
So, you're left with two slots. One for the Big East (assume UC for the sake of argument). The Fiesta ends up with UC, then has to choose between a second non-BCS school or Ohio St. (There are no other likely BCS at-larges in the Pac-10, Big East, or ACC.) Who do they take? Boise St. or the Buckeyes?
(My only caveat here is that I'm not completely sure how it all works with the conference affiliations. The Rose is affiliated with the B10 and the P10, the Fiesta with the BXII, the Orange with the ACC, and the Sugar with the SEC. But I think that since the Fiesta's "host" team of the Big XII is in the title game, it could probably choose whoever it wants, whether from the Big XII or not.)

Here is Stewart Mandel's predictions on SI.com:
Jan. 1 Orange: North Carolina (ACC champ) vs. Cincinnati (Big East champ)
Jan. 1 Rose: Penn State (Big Ten champ) vs. USC (Pac-10 champ)
Jan. 2 Sugar: Alabama (BCS at-large) vs. Utah (BCS at-large)
Jan. 5 Fiesta: Texas (BCS at-large) vs. Ohio State (BCS at-large)
Jan. 8 BCS Championship (Miami): Texas Tech (BCS No. 1) vs. Florida (BCS No. 2)
• The Fiesta Bowl will select 11-1 Texas to replace Texas Tech and, with the first at-large choice, take 10-2 Ohio State as the Longhorns' opponent.
• The Sugar Bowl will take 12-1 Alabama to replace Florida and, with the second at-large choice, select 12-0 Utah over the Big East champ (which I'm projecting to be 10-3 Cincinnati).
• USC will win out, while Oregon State will stumble once, sending the Trojans to the Rose Bowl where they will meet Big Ten champ Penn State.
• North Carolina will beat Wake Forest in the ACC title game. (To find out how I reached this conclusion, send me a self-addressed stamped envelope and I will send you back a 36-page flow chart in which the league's top six teams all finish either 9-3 or 8-4.)

The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is whether the Fiesta and Sugar have to take their conference reps., or they will just want to.
On second thought, though, if they get to pick replacements before any at-larges are picked, then it makes an OSU/UC game almost impossible (unless one of them picks Utah or whoever over the remaining Big XII or SEC teams, which won't happen). So forget my previous post, I guess.
I don't believe the Fiesta bowl is affiliated with any conference. As for the Sugar, in the year they aren't the Championship game, they have to take the SEC team. Same holds true for the Orange and Rose bowls.
Where I am confused is the extra game. Did I just wake up from a Rumplestilskin sleep or something? Wouldn't the Miami championship game be the Orange Bowl?

No, they have the BCS championship game and the Orange Bowl. Each city/bowl gets the game through the rotation.

Wait, if Oregon State wins out, do they go to the BCS? Is the first tiebreaker head-to-head?
Florida's going to win the national title.

I understand rooting for UC football in the absence of any real football team here in Cincinnati and do not begrudge anyone on that.
But referring to any University of Cincinnati team with the pronoun "we" is so utterly wrong.

If Oregon State beats Cal, Arizona and Oregon, they go to Pasadena to get a rematch against JoePa.

You are correct. So instead of adding another bowl (like the Cotton) they just decided to play two games in one city? That seems pretty stupid to me.

i saw the end of this upon getting home from the X game. What was the deal between the two coaches? No handshake, and the announcer said they were arguing before the game? Anyone have any idea?

UC traditionally prays prior to the game near or around the 50 yard line but they always stay off the other team's logo or mascot and apparently UL coaches felt UC was intentionally disrespecting UL and words wer exchanged with both head coaches trading words. Kelley wanted no part of the handshake afterwards (reminded me of Gillen and Thuggy).

X fans publicly rooting for UC without shame. Isn't that the seventh sign of the apocalypse? I'm deeply concerned and worried.:)

That would be UC getting an Orange Bowl invite while Ohio State has to settle for the Capital One Bowl.

UC's gonna win the Big East and Ohio State is gonna play Oregon State in the Rose Bowl. And you'll notice this requires a little help from a former UC coach.

Let's go Cats!!
I'm not, and will not root hard for the basketball team but see no conflict of interest in supporting UC's football team. They have something good right now and it is worth my time to take interest.

UC is one win away from essentially being locks for the Orange Bowl. Unreal. Even more unreal is that they'd probably be favored against anyone the ACC has to offer.

I support UC football and would like to see them do well, but there are several teams from the ACC that I think would beat UC. I actually saw conference rankings today and the SEC is third behind the Big 12 and the ACC.

The ACC doesn't really have a single really good team. But they don't have any bad teams, either. It's weird. But UC will be favored in the Orange Bowl if they beat Pitt (Miami might be the exception since it would essentially be a home game for the Canes).
