According to Crosstown Shoutout:
Another top 150 name to remember for 2010 is a face up power forward named Alex Gauna. He has already visited X and UD but will probably wait to make his decision.
Anyone know anything about this kid?

He is a face up PF in the mold of J. Doellman, right now Xavier is going to focus on Kyryl in 2009 and if that doesn't work out Gauna could be a high priority in 2010.

Also Gauna wants to wait till spring to decide. That works out for Xavier because by then we should have a better feel for Kryrl. Xavier can always use that schollie for a transfer after the coaching carousel begins. Who knows what may happen. Maybe Payne decides to come to X. Maybe Staten wakes up and realizes he went to bed with a dog.
Hard to believe but the coaching staff can pretty much start looking at 2011 kids.

I hope the staff goes after a center. A kid at least 6'9 or bigger. Love will be gone after next year, leaving Kenny as the only true center. Kryl would be a great addition, at 6'10 and athletic would really give us a great combo at the center position.

Right on. With Mark Lyons eligibility issue, and assuming he graduates as expected, he really falls into the class with Parrom. Being a combo guard, the staff doesn't need a point in 2010, so will probably now focus on Tharpe for '11.

Alex Gauna, Eaton Rapids 6-9 junior center
6-9 junior center
No player is getting bigger raves locally heading into this season. He's gotten bigger - adding nine pounds since the start of fall - and even better after earning a Class B all-state honorable mention last year when he averaged 15.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game. He's a big-time college recruit, with Michigan State, Xavier, Dayton and Indiana among his top group so far.

If his top four are Michigan State, Xavier, UD and Indiana....then I believe it is between X and MSU. Of course he could go to IU and play right away and be part of something that is rebuilding and probably won't be descent enough until he is a sophomore or Junior. UD, if he wants the NBA, he has no chance of developing at UD then....I am just looking at history and the facts....
Gauna received an MSU offer today and took it. He is now off the board, and is a Spartan commit.
