Found this at Dick Weiss' blog. Hadn't heard of it before, but it's a good idea I think. Though maybe could make the grace period a little longer.

What's good about that idea? I think it's a horrible idea. What's wrong with giving the kids an opportunity to go out and educate themselves on their chances of making it in the NBA before they make their choice.
Sounds like a pure moneygrab by the ACC (trying to keep their better players around longer).

I agree. There are only so many NBA roster spots available, and it's generally only those guys that are first round locks that leave early. If a coach is worried about recruits leaving early, it's as simple as staying away from "one-and-done's". Coach K does a good job of maintaining an elite program while recruiting kids likely to stay all four years already.

I read somewhere an idea of moving the signing day back, providing everyone with a chance to evaluate what they want, and still have time to sign players for the next season. So I can see placing a limit on the time to make a decision as reasonable. I guess how long this period should be is the question in my mind.

Recruiting. That's what I read into it. Bet he's losing potential recruits because he doesn't know if he is going to have spots available.

No problem from me shortening up the limit somewhat. I just think the underclassmen should be able to go to Portsmouth and/or Chicago before having to make the decision.
