Great question! Tough decision.

Hard to choose. I'm going with the player who was most productive per minute and will have his minutes increased this season (I assume).

I guess if Frease gets substantial minutes that cut into Love's, then this prediction is off.

Having not seen Kenny, it's hard to give him more love than...Love.

Derrick Brown, being an excellent rebounder and logging the most minutes, will grab the most boards.

Exactly why I voted for him.

I thought the same thing when I read the thread Title.

Tough question...but one that does not have a wrong answer

If it is Frease, the freshman has a bright future and Xavier is having a good year

If it is Brown, no one will be surprised (a possible games like BYU with 18 rebounds in 18 minutes)

If it is McLean, then he is getting a lot of playing time and is one of the best transfers in the country

If it is Love, we are going to have a lot of offensive rebounds and a bunch of second chance opportunities

If it is Anderson, then he is playing down low a lot more and is opening up our outside shooters

It would be great to have all of these guys average double digit rebounds a game(don't know if that's possible)...kinda like our balanced scoring

That would mean we were the best defense in NCAA history. Nice to think about, but not likely.

I have to give it to Brown. Frease and Love will cut into each others minutes, and therefore numbers. While I like C.J., he is just too sporadic in his productivity to lead the team in anything.

I am going with Brown because of his athletic ability. Being tall doesn't make you a great rebounder. A guy like Frease can do a great job of helping team rebounding numbers by keeping offensive players off of the boards by blocking out and taking up a lot of space for other to operate underneath.

How many rebounds do you guys think our top guy will get, whoever you think it is.

I dont think we will have a double figure rebounder. I think we have too many great rebounder's down low for one player to get 10 or more a game.

Average - 7 tops

Is rebounding average and total number of rebounds the same thing?

I seriously doubt anyone on the team will average 10 boards a game. The bigger issue is if the team is plus on the boards.

I am agreeing with Glow on that one.

This is going to be interesting, but those that picked Frease are looking good right now. If he continues to get 20 minutes he should get the most boards on the season. Derrick Brown can get 37.5 boards in one game though.

Through Six Games:

Jason Love 39
Jamal McLean 35
Derrick Brown 31
CJ Anderson 30
Kenny Frease 28
BJ Raymond 26

The highest rebounder on a per minute basis is Jamal McLean.

If Redford got more minutes, I'd go with him.
J-Love gets my vote for top rebounder on the team.

I love how this year we don't have to worry about how and if we will be able to rebound against our opponent... We have so many quality student-athletes on our team who can rebound, defend, take a charge, and do the countless little things that wins basketball games. Right now, we're a pretty scary team due to our size and toughness... as soon as we get Holloway back on the hardwood and as Frease, Redford, and Walsh all get more minutes and confidence...we'll be a damn scary team who can do some damage in March.
