Anyone else following this? Girl claimed she was robbed at an ATM, and when her attacker saw she was a McCain supporter, he beat her up and carved the letter "B" into her face?
Well, the latest reports (on Drudge and other sites) is that she fabricated the whole story and has confessed. I would guess (though haven't seen it written) that she did this to somehow damage Obama.
At face value, I can't imagine that anyone should hold this against the McCain campaign (just as if it were true it shouldn't affect someone's views of Obama either). My only thought is this: Have politics gotten so crazy that this is what people are willing to do?

Yeah, I saw that earlier today. Crazy bitch.
I did read an article this morning somewhere about police ramping up security in major cities in the event Obama loses amid accusations of "foul play." That's sad that we can't have an election in this country without potential rioting.

If McCain were to pull out a close and disputed election I think there would be violence. Living where I live I thank my lucky stars this won't be a close election.
We talk about election fraud so much on both sides that in any close election the loser will be bitter and point fingers. It is dangerous to our democracy.
And that crazy bitch carved a b in her own face. Do you charge that woman with a crime or just send her to the mental ward? What a loon. I bet Karl Rove made her do it and Rummsfeld sent her in there without body armor.

You can bet that McCain's people will issue some type of apology/statement, even though they don't need to.

I find myself agreeing on many points. I don't think there will necessarily be violence, but it is a possibility. And it's also a shame that election fraud gets bandied about so much on both sides. It really undermines the process. In that regard, maybe it would be a good thing to get a landslide for once.
Finally, what the heck do you do with her? You have to press some sort of charges, right? Just crazy stuff. Clearly she has some problems if she was willing to do that.

She got charged with filing a false report.
It's a pretty sad commentary that this thing is getting as much coverage as it is actually. She's just a whackpod looking for attention. Both sides have these kinds of dolts, and it shouldn't be a reflection of the McCain camp, but I bet somebody makes that leap. Hell, I read on another site that she was an Obama plant to make the McCain camp look bad.....
That's how stupid some people are out there.

I was actually surprised at the lack of coverage to some extent. I saw it first yesterday on Drudge, where he obviously played it up (when it appeared she was attacked because she supported McCain). He's looking for anything positive for McCain right now. I saw blurbs of it on cnn.com and msnbc.com this morning, and on foxnews.com--then Fox had a bigger piece on it on the website.
But I think anyone looking at it thought it seemed fishy from the get-go. And you're right, it shouldn't reflect on either campaign. Just a sad commentary on where we are today I guess.

It was obvious she was lying. What a fool.

B is for Binnie.
Wouldn't he have done a "T" for "Traffic Cone" in that case?

It did happen in Pittsburgh. Maybe Hines Ward blinsided her and the B is for Bengals.
