i remember posting this earlier in the summer with mixed reviews...

http://www.xavierhoops.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4106

i'm living outside of cincinnati now for the first time in ten years. i wouldn't call myself a diehard bengals fan, but i learned to like the team because for about ten years, i'd meet up with people every sunday to watch the games. what started out as something to do on a sunday afternoon turned me into a fan. i'm enough of a fan that i wanted to keep watching the team even though i live out of town. the only problem is that the bengals were expected to suck so bad that they were never on television.

"oh no!! 11-5. we're on the brink man!! this is our year!!"

i decided to spring the money for nfl sunday ticket. nfl sunday ticket is definintely worth the money if you're an nfl fan. it's literally every game of the season. however, i'm just a bengals fan, and i bought it because i was under the impression that the bengals would be good this year. the bengals always spoon-feed us a bunch of nonsense about how they're doing the right things and how they're getting better...much like a team about fifty miles north of xavier. the thing is, they're NEVER any good at all...much like a team fifty miles north of xavier.

i feel i should be reimbursed. my only question is who i should confront for my reimbursment.

-should i call directv??
-should i call the bengals league office and bitch them out for deceiving a fan who was niave enough to think they actually give a shit??
-am i an idiot who deserves no reimbursement at all??

i will base whatever action i take on the result of this poll...

I will trade you NFL Sunday ticket for my Bengals season tickets. At least with your purchase you get to see other games.

So who is the bigger idiot?

Even though I have tickets, I am not going to the games. I'm giving them to friends.
I "watched" the game today...but it honestly doesn't bug me anymore. It's hilarious actually.

Mike Brown "I need a new stadium to win"
Taxpayers and Fanbase "OK, here you go!"
Mike Brown "Ha ha FOOLED YOU! Thanks for the free money with no repurcussions!"

The Bengals are just plain ole bad!!! I was at the game AGAIN!! Wow...we lost to the Clowns, why do I actually get mad anymore?? Its a waste of my money to go anymore, yet I continue to put myself through this misery. It is kind of like a car wreck..you are afraid to see the mess, yet you turn your head to see what happened...depressing, I know.

I think the federal reserve should reimburse you.

I heard that Obama is adding your reimbursement to his economic plan to help all of the economically disadvantaged an d is going to tax Mike Brown directly for the money.;)

All the season ticket holders will receive an undisclosed amount of Schrute bucks at the end of the season.

I don't mind losing so much as I mind playing with damn near no emotion at all, and lying to the press and fans b having Palmer insist he would play. That's crap and the Bengals should be fined heavily for it.
All you had to do was look at two scenes, one of which occurred numerous times during the game to realize that two of the Bengals key players have been broken in spirit if not completely physically...the first, any shot of T.J. after a miss-connection. The look on his face was one of utter discouragement.
And this will not meet with approval of the experts, but Chad Johnson or whatever his name is, has been broken. Absolutely had all the joy taken out of his play. He caught the first TD pass he has caught all season and turned and handed the ball to the official and trotted off the field head down.
The offensive line sucks horribly... Third and one and Levi false starts, twice. Perry, the guy who was going to take Rudi's place fumbles for the fourth time this year and now leads the NFL in fumbles and fumbles lost. How many picks were there today? The defense commits stupid penalties at the wrong time.
Awe fagetaboutit! I'd rather watch UC play or any 1-AA team compete. At least those people try to win for their money aks scholarships. Hell, tomorrow night when the Xavier club
football team plays there'll be more enthusiasm and love of the game shown.:D

WKRQ: Chad did that because Jordan Palmer told him he should go "old School" and just hand the ball to the referee if he scored yesterday, which is what he did.

Anyway, I think everyone should do what I have done for years and that is get outside, do some yard work, go for for bike ride, take the dog for a walk, shoot hoops w/ your kid, etc., all of which are more enjoyable than watching the BenGALS. I hope they stop selling out so they are not even on TV anymore.

You shouldn't request reimbursement from anyone. You paid for, and are receiving, a very good product. It's not their fault that you based that decision on a weak premise.

They should demand Stanley Nickels

You can't ask for reimbursement from anyone. At least with the NFL ticket you do have access to good football. It isn't Directv's fault you only watch the Bengals. That is the very reason I have the NFL ticket--so I am not stuck watching the Bengals and Browns every Sunday.

If I only had the 3 network games in the afternoon to watch football, I doubt I would watch most weeks. Also, I joined a fantasy football league about 14 years ago. This allowed me to root for a team and if I didn't like the move the GM made, I cussed myself out. Try that next year, but don't join Billy's league because I will have to beat up on you like I do the rest of our league.

Scoreboard.

That is the sportsmanlike reply when someone whose ass you are kicking starts talking smack. It does not give the satisfaction that "I am the greatest" or "You suck" give. So, allow me to be unsportsmanlike and say:

Nuts, you suck.

I am the greatest!!! 4-0 beeches. Smell the glove.

I can own it. My team is on a 2 game losing streak, but I absorbed all my byes this week, and should bounce back just fine. No shame in sucking in 2 game stretches. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Paybacks are hell, (insert cliche here).

But if brew joins the league, I have no doubts I will own him. At least in a few 2 game stretches. I mean anyone can run into that kind of luck, right?

Ah Crap, I need a beer.

In this day and age of ultra liberals always shirking personal responsibility and seeking restitution for problems they cause, you never can tell.
