This is not meant to turn into a "Liberal media" rant, but I just found it interesting that Olbermann and Matthews have been pulled from anchor duties. Olbermann and Dan Patrick were the best team in reporting when they were on Sports Center, but now Olbermann is just a parody of himself. He apparently lacks the self-control to be an objective new anchor. I don't care what side of the debate you're on, this guy has just plain lost it.

Being switched from an anchor to a "commentator" is code that you are not objective in the least bit so we will use you in a way that allows you to come out with your political opinions without dragging down the rest of the network.

Agreed. I'm fine with guys like Olbermann and Hannity having their opinions and expressing them on their own shows but it's crazy to think they can be impartial while providing election coverage. David Gregory seems like a decent choice. He may have an agenda but at least he can keep it somewhat in check.

I would miss Keith if they tossed him off entirely. I watch all three networks because I have no life. I go to Olbermann when I need a good dose of bile. It can be entertaining.

Nice to see the Culture Wars back front and center. I love the culture wars. And I love it when the Republicans push back against the liberal media elite. Looks like they just got a couple of scalps.

Take that you leftist pigs.

I love Keith. He is hilarious. If you think he is just a shell of himself, then you just don't like his politics. Which is fine.

MSNBC's coverage of the conventions were awful. Just awful, but yet entertaining.

Sarah Palin's church hopes to 'pray away the gay' and convert homosexuals to heterosexuals

September 7, 2008Recommend (18)

FROM ASSOCIATED PRESS
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin’s church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

‘‘You’ll be encouraged by the power of God’s love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality,’’ according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for about six years.

I like watching Olbermann but they guy has become too argumentative for his own good. He's probably the smartest guy they have - problem is, he knows it and isn't afraid to let you know. That's not a good thing to do when in the anchor role. His ego has just gotten too bloated.

I remember the line Jay Mohr used when asked about Olbermann once - "I just saw him outside arguing with a parking meter."

Yes, I would concur with that.

I guess their bosses were taken aback after Governor Palin made her comment (at the convention) about the media, and the crowd chanted 'NBC, NBC, NBC!".

I am going to miss Tim Russert's unabashed enthusiasm (and white board) for election night coverage, especially if this one is as wild and down to the wire as 2000 and 2004. Who's gonna predict the "swing state" for us viewers at home?

Olbermann is who he is. Just like O'Reilly is who he is. I've heard people complain about Olbermann being too left wing and my response is that he's not a newsperson but a commentator who gives opinions. I may not like his opinions, but that is what he is hired to do.

The problem is that MSNBC then allowed Olbermann (and Mathews) to be placed in a position where he was supposed to objectively report the political news. That was ridiculous. How could anyone believe that Olbermann, who spends much of his time loudly complaining about the Bush adminisration and Republicans in general, would or could be objective, when reporting on the same people he criticizes over and over again? And based on some recent events, Olbermann was not and could not be objective.

The sad part is that MSNBC for months has been claiming that Olbermann could wear both hats. And the sadder part is that the MSNBC execs probably still believe that nonsense.

And the same is true for Mathews. How could he be objective after he made such statements as his leg gets "tingly" when he hears Obama speak?

I agree with you 87. When put in the proper role, Olberman is good TV because he either pisses you off or makes you happy.

And this might rile some people up, but I think that is why Fox News does a better job than MSNBC. When they need an anchor they get someone like Brit Hume or Greta Van Sustern (sp?) who I think are both pretty objective, but what do I know.

There were times when I prayed for my ex-wife to be gay for a few hours. That didn't work either. I couln't pray the gay into her, and I don't think you can pray the gay out of anyone.

It is a nice thought. I would also like to pray my beer belly right of my waist, and to pray a dick load of money into my bank account. If it works for the gays, why can't it work for us hetero's?

Nuts, that was wonderful. While we're at it, why not pray for all people to be one color, green? Olbermann, Hannity Greta et al are what they are, commentators. Some of them may try to appear to be news people, and as such unbiased, but that's just plain silly. I haven't seen a lack of bias from any localo or national newscaster in so long I can't remember when.
I too laughed at Keith when he was on ESPN Sunday nights and lamented when he left, no pun intended.
Stripping him of his role in the election coverage is just another example of the last-place network caving in to the current powers. As has been said, they are what they are. But I firmly believe in the old adage, "Be careful what you ask for. You might just get it."
The saddest part of all this is there seems to be no room any more for the middle. You are either to the right or to the left. And the hate on either side is what makes for independents.
At my age, I probably won't be around to see if I can survive 8 or even 4 more years of what has happened to me the past eight. But maybe there is a certain blessing in uncertainty.:D

The most entertaining thing on televison, aside from The Two Cory's, is hearing senile Jack Cafferty go off on Sarah Palin. Some hilarious clips at Newsbusters.

Campbell Brown went off of Palin last week on CNN. Today, her husband, Dan Senor, went off on Biden in the Wall Street Journal. I wonder if the dinner table conversation has been a bit icy as of late.

That's OK, Obama's church wants to do away with white people.

Olbermann has become just as annoying and as much as a joke as O'Reilly is. Having opinions isn't a bad thing. Thinking that yours are so much more important than everyone else's that you have to express them every chance you get is the problem.

I really liked Keith on ESPN. It's a shame that he has become what he has. His "editorial" when Chuck Knoblauch hit his mom with an errant throw into the stands has got to be one of the funniest sports commentaries I've ever heard.

I've been watching some MSNBC lately. And at least in the evening, it's nothing short of remarkable about how left wing they are. They have that left wing Rachel who runs story after story about how bad McCain and Palin are. Olberman speaks for himself. I realize that Olberman is a commentator as opposed to a reporter and I assume that Rachel is also considered a commentator, but it's amazing how one sided this network is. And then you have Chris Mathews who gets a "tingle" in his leg when he hears Obama speak. The three of them are nothing but a bunch of cheerleaders for Obama. It's no wonder this station is in last place in the network cable ratings.

Say what you want about O'Reilly, but he doesn't do the cheerleading for McCain like I have watched MSNBC do for Obama. Now Hannity is definately a cheerleader for McCain, but he is balanced by Colmes, who is a cheerleader for the left.

But MSNBC consciously decides to run programs which half the country will competely disagree with. They deserve to be in last.

In the past, Andrea Mitchell (I believe) was asked to name one conservative at NBC News.....she couldn't, and answered the question awkwardly.
The higher ups at NBC realize that they needed a makeover, but I'm not sure Gregory is much different than ther other guys...aside from the fact that he normally refrains from making outlandish comments.

This conversation gets old, but probably because those who still refuse to believe that there is bias, it's clear that NBC did what it did because it was painfully obvious to everyone (as their terrible ratings provide additional 'proof').
Bottom line...we need good, honest, unbiased reporting from ALL outlets. That's change that is desperately needed.
