The Charlotte floor leader, who sat out the first semester last season after transferring from Pepperdine, has decided to leave the 49ers.

``I'm very surprised and disappointed with Mike's decision," Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz said in a statement.``However, I have to respect what he and his family have decided is best for him. I hope that things turn out the way he wants them to."

Gerrity averaged 4.7 points in 19.1 minutes last season.

Basically from what I've heard he wasn't happy with the amount of PT he was going to be getting and he didn't like the fact he would be coming off the bench. No reason to transfer to a NAIA/D2 school though.

We will miss the depth somewhat, but Dijuan Harris is a much better defender and always had a better A/TO ratio, so Gerrity didn't have much of a chance of getting the PT he wanted. Too bad for him though, he thought he was NBA material.
