Alright... I'd really like an X football jersey. I'm willing to pay full price for one if anyone can hook me up with the people who do the "sales" for the football team. Do I have to go to a game to buy football stuff? it seems to me that in my day (1996-2000) one could buy club items at the Bookstore.

I saw one game last year against Miami. I really liked XU's uniforms. They did not have a bunch of modern bullcrap going on with them, just a classic design and they did not do too much with it. Miami's on the other hand were awful. They were the same as their real team's uniforms but instead of white with red accents or red with white accents, they were black with red accents. Black helmets with a red M and black jerseys with red lettering and stripes on the side. They looked like the bastard brother of UC.

Or, at the very least, see Xavier back on the Project Helmet website. Gonzaga and Providence get fictional helmets but not X?

We're getting new Jerseys this year according to my contacts. Apparently they will be White, with Xavier on them and Blue Stripes. They sound nice.

FYI:

Meijer's on Harrsion Ave. a few months ago had Xavier football jerseys for sale with numerals and a "X" on the sleeve. I imagine that they are still available although I have not been to the store recently. While these are not the same jersey style as the club team's jerseys, they look pretty sharp. I have had a few mini helmets made one of which I will be giving to coach Powers. It looks exactly like the current team's helmet and it is very good looking.

Months ago, I had contacted helmet world's web-site regarding the custom making of such a helmet but decals and pictures were problematic. I was able to secure a local mini-helmet high school dealer who came up with the final product which I want to have coach Powers review possibly for fund raising purposes.

Generally, mini's run from $19.95 to $29.95 per helmet but manufactures sometimes can lower the costs for larger orders. The four that I have had made ran about $30.00 apiece so for fund raising purposes, I am not sure how much cheaper they can be made. I will let you know what coach Powers thinks and get back with the board. It would seem at a mnimum, interested parties could order helmets on their own but I would need to confirm all that with the local rep.

I will say that the helmet in a very tangible way confirms the existence of Xavier football.

The Meijers on Harrison Avenue had these last fall and I bought the Blue and White one, so that I would have home and away. I like them but I could have suggested a few changes.

No plans right now to sell jerseys but that could change. Currently you can only get club football merchandise at our games or by contacting the head coach (see our website www.xu.edu/football) for contact information. When we get jerseys to replace our current ones (a few years away), selling them is a great idea.

THe jerseys were designed from the 1950 Salad Bowl Champions jerseys. We put the stripes on our pants to match the jerseys and helmets. It is important for us to remember our football past. Our Club Team has great respect for those that came before us and wore the XU uniform. We wanted our current uniform to show that.

We have hats and t-shirts available ($10.00 each). If you want a 2007 t-shirt the sale price is $2.00 but sizes are limited. Would like to expand our merchandise sales. Suggestions for items are welcome.

The uniforms I saw last year had a good, classic look to them. I like the philosophy your team has plus the style of uniform that results from it.

I agree re the uniforms. Classy and clean looking. I remember the 1973 uniforms which I also thought looked sharp. The football helmet exhibited at the football tribute at Cintas belong to Xavier great and Hall of Fame meber Rich Kase. Looks a bit heavy and cumbersome with that face mask. While I thought those 1973 helmets looked good, the club team's helmets I think are an imporvement (but I guess in thirty years they might look dated too).
