I tried to get some Derby conversation going on derby day, but there wasn't much response. I'll try again one more time today. Maybe there aren't many race fans on here.
Who's everyone got?
I'm betting an exacta with Big Brown over the all. I'm also going to bet a tri with Big Brown, Icabad Crane, and Racecar Rhapsody. I heard that Gayego flew in to Baltimore on Thursday. I'm not sure how that effects a horse though. Either way, I'm gonna stay away from him.

They said on TV that the trainer and jockey plan on pushing Gayego early, so I am guessing he will tire down the stretch.
Big Brown should almost certainly win. There is no horse in the same class.
The battle for 2nd place is tough to figure.
Gayego is the only horse besides Big Brown to post a 100+ Beyer in his career, but like Blueguy said he has had a crazy travel schedule since the Derby.
I expect a moderate to quick pace with Tres Borrachos taking the early lead. With a hot pace I expect to see one of the closers like Macho Again or Racecar Rhapsody close strong for 2nd place.
If the pace is slower, I expect Gayego or Kentucy Bear to challenge Big Brown.

This may be the worst Preakness in a long time. Some horse is supposed to challenge Big Brown in the Belmont. I forget its name but its Casino something. It won the Peter Pan Stakes which is a good Belmost prep and its the half brother to both Jazil and Rags to Riches, who are the past two Belmont winners. I really dont see Big Brown winning the third leg because of the distance and because of the lack of rest between races. The horses in the Belmont should be significantly fresher.

Who's everyone got?
20 minutes before the race, I'm all over Big Brown. But on that short of money I'm working to beat him. Beware of Kentucky Bear, Racecar Rhapsody (will be running the fastest at the end but Pimiloc's short stretch doesn't help) and Tres Borrachos. Mild watch on Riley Tucker, but I have him in my tri's.
Good luck to all. I want to hear about winners!

It was awefully tough to win much money, outside of the tri or super. I missed the trifecta by one horse. Odds are probably going to be similar for Big Brown in NY too.

I hit the exacta and would have hit the tri and super had I bet it. I usually do 3 and 4 horses in exactas and tri's but didn't pay for the tri this time. I wanted to do the $.10 super at River Downs but they don't offer it. You can box 5 horses for that bet for only $12 dollars or 6 for only $36. It wouldn't have paid to do it today as you would have only got back about $50 for the $.10 super.
I bet 5 races at Pimlico today and hit the exacta on 4 of them. They didn't pay well but I came out a bit ahead.

The last time I saw a horse pull away at the top of the stretch and turn on the afterburners to lope down the stretch and be eased at the finish was Secretariat way back when in the Belmont, only he was in the stretch when the rest of the field was --or seemed like it just coming out of the last turn.
It will be interesting to see how the jockey rides Big Brown in the Belmont. He'll be a prohibited favorite again, and I don't think that distance will bother him. I know if the mile and a half were today he'd have had even more left in the tank.
How appropriate if Big Brown wins the Triple Crown and Derrick Brown leads Xavier to the Final Four. UPS would make a killing.:D

We had a pool going at work but we scratched Big Brown ourselves just to make things more interesting. I won $30.00
