A Fraternity brother of mine who just finished his freshman year was killed in a car accident last night. He is from Cleveland and that is were the accident was. He went to St. Ignatius and just finished his freshman year at SLU. Please pray for his family, whom I didnt know, but I'm sure need the prayers very much. Thank you very much.

It's a tough day for the family. His older brother was set to graduate from St. Louis today. My girlfriend was extremely close with this family and told me about it yesterday. Prayers indeed are extended. A sad occurrence for the Jesuit family

Except in many of our own parents' cases, only the good die young.
What a horror for family and friends to undergo! Mass tomorrow will indeed have a very special intention.

DWest. Do you have a name? I probably know the family.

MOR, I did a Google News search and found this blog entry from cleveland.com (http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/05/19yearold_brecksville_man_kill.html). Very sad. I know he looked at XU before deciding on SLU. Prayers to the family and the Ignatius and SLU communities.

Right, '07. My Musketette daughter, who you know, went to school with Anna.
After I made my post yesterday, I found out about it a few minutes later from a friend. I didn't hear anything on the news. Very sad.
I offered my Sunday Mass for Danny this morning. 19 years old is way too young and I can't imagine that anything is worse than burying one of your children.

I'm an old Wildcat myself (class of '91) and, despite not knowing the young man, it's always a bit worse to hear that one of your "family" has passed. Obviously, it's always sad when someone passes in such a tragic manner, but there's that extra connection when they attended your school. I know there are many who might not understand that as far as high school goes, but Ignatius injects a sense of pride much like XU does. Its students are proud to have attended the school and there's always a connection to others who have walked the halls before or after. I know not all high schools are like that, so I consider myself lucky to have gone to one that does have a sense of pride and am saddened by the news of Danny Modic. Prayers to his family and friends...

Thank you all for the prayers. I only knew Dan for a year, but its been rough on me and everyone else I know who knew him because of what a great guy he was. The wake was today and was very difficult, especially with an open casket and seeing his family look so devastated. I felt guilty when I left and was eating dinner with some fraternity brothers, who are also here for the funeral, and I find myself not thinking about it. I dont want to think about it because it makes it more real for me but then I feel guilty about how real it is for the family and how much it must hurt them. It is just a tough situation that I'm sure a lot of you have gone through. Thanks for the prayers. The funeral is tomorrow, which Im sure will be another tough day.
