We're heading towards summer. I thought I would offer another diversion.
So, to the extent that boating is in your life or that you care about it at all, do you prefer power and speed or listening to the wind?
My concept:

May not be practical on the Ohio River, but it sure as hell would look nice here in Jax, and on the "blue water" off Jax. My goal would be to load up the boat with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and a bunch of time and Cubans and sail to the Islands. GPS and damn good charts would come on board along with the rum to avoid missing the Abacos and clipping Cuba or the Dominican Republic.

I haven't done much sailing (2-3 times) but being a pretty avid (avid...not good) wakeboarder, I am definitely a power boat guy. There's something about the sound of a straight inboard that really gets me into full summer mode. A good friend of mine has a Mastercraft that we ski every Thursday night during the months of June-July and August. Hidden Valley Lake can be a great wakeboarding lake when there's not much traffic.
My dream boat would be a Malibu 247RX

I spend just about every weekend of the summer at a small lake south of Indy skiiing, drinking, and having an all around great time. However, I also enjoy sailing immensely.
To be completely honest, I don't think it matters much whether you're speeding along in a powerful inboard or coasting along listening to the wind and lap of waves on a sailboat as long as you're on the water with friends and some sun.

Preposterous! Judge Smails would never be caught on a power boat.
Personally, power boats are all I know. Never been sailing in my life. If I had my dream boat, it would be a houseboat down on Cumberland.

Smails, it's time for the picture of Rodney's dropped anchor lodged in the poor Judge's sloop.

Personally, I'm a powerboat guy (I wakeboard too). With that said, gas for a full day out on the boat now costs several hundred dollars - literally - if you're skiing/tubing/wakeboarding. So I might have to take up sailing.
