This guy would do well to stay north of the Mason Dixon.

You know what I can't stand?
People who are in their mid 40's and who act like they 16 or something.
Then they walk around thinking they are in fact smarter than you. Seriously, I would love to punch these people in the face. Trust me when I say this, if you think the entire world is stupid compared to you, most likely it's you that is in fact, stupid.
Get a job, work, stop complaining about everyone else in the world has caused your problems and make something of your life.

What about people who are over 60 and act like they're 16, or, you know...something?
How do those over-60 folks act like they are 16? In other words, what do they do that makes you think they are trying (seemingly unsuccessfully) to act like they are 16?
I'm getting extremely close to being 68 and no longer have the energy to act like a 16 year-old in most ways. However, I don't wear my trousers just south of my nipples like some old codgers do. I'm as avid (or more so) about the Muskies as I was as a 16 year-old kid reveling in our NIT Championship. And I enjoy life even more today than I did back then. I think that just makes me a fun-loving 67 year-old Xavier fan --- not a 16 year-old wannabe.
Maybe those over-60 folks you think are trying to act like they're 16 are just not willing to turn their backs on enjoying life while they still can.

Drivers who change lanes in front of you, particularly without signally, then either go below the speed limit or make a left-hand turn in heavy traffic forcing you to stop just so they don't have to wait for one more stinking car to pass before they go on with their day, never mind that it screws over everyone else. The idiot of the day was on a BICYCLE!!!! F***er changed lanes in front of me with barely a foot to spare, of course riding between me and the vehicle to my left, not actually in a lane.
I've ridden a bike in traffic. I know what jerks drivers can be. But some cyclers are their own worst enemy and frankly I think I should be allowed to tap them when they pull that crap.
Correlary peeve: bicyclers who switch between sidewalk and street as it is convenient to them, ignoring the danger to pedestrians and the confusion it causes vehicle traffic, particularly on one-way streets.

I'll 2nd that. And I'll add putzes that think the escalator means time to check their crackberry, even if there's a dozen people behind them. If you aren't going to at least walk a few of those steps, take the danged elevator that is 10 feet from the escalator entrance! Don't go slowly through doors with your nose in your crackberry. Don't hold up elevator traffic because you are too busy looking at your crackberry to notice it's time for you to get off until the doors are almost closed.
If you are in motion and your nose is in your crackberry and you haven't looked up at least once every 3 steps, I should have the right to body slam you. Seriously. I'm not going to cede the path to you just because you think your little electronic device is more important than the actual human beings that inhabit the world around you.

Or the guy who wears those glove-like shoes on their feet. I don't want to see your toes. It's creepy.

I'm not kidding, I've said this a million times, but it bears repeating when the Washington Post is writing a story about it a few days ago...
I want to know when...when did it become a "tradition" throughout baseball, to throw a baseball back when the visiting team hits a home run? Who decided this? Who decided we would all become loser Cubs fans?
I went to a Reds game over the summer and there was a home run hit by the Brewers. People around me, I was along the first base side, we hoping the guy who caught it would throw it back. I waited ready to explode if it happened.
And I waited.
And I waited.
The ball never came back.
I swear to all things holy I wanted to run out to the left field stands and tell the guy I was going to buy all the beer he wanted that night. All the hookers he wanted that night. All the blow he wanted that night.
I was so proud...this Reds fan got it.
There is hope. Stop, just stop throwing home run balls back. It's not cool. It's not a tradition. Especially to you Nationals fans. I love our team, but we have been around for like ten minutes in the baseball world. We don't have traditions, except for spelling our name wrong...let alone taking another team's stupid ass tradition.
Catch the ball. Give it to a kid. And all you mouthbreathing hilljacks who chant to to the one guy who catches the home run ball, I hope you get the clap.

I'm torn on this one. I have never caught a ball. I would like to have the ball. I would also like to share that with a kid, because that would be cool too.
I hope if I catch a ball, no kids are sitting around me. That way I can be guilt-free selfish about it.

Also, what is the vicinity that the kid has to be in to give the ball to? Within the 8 seats around you? A couple seats over and a couple rows back? Same section?

The best feeling I ever had about the subject was when my 10 year old daughter caught one and gave it to a 4 year old. It was very cool to see her so excited about making some little kid she would probably never see again soo happy.

I know this is a joke, but sadly there are many who this is truth for. I interned with Xavier for one season doing MBB games. Every time I would have to do the ball toss, I would have grown men yelling at me for the ball. I made sure to throw a couple and then hand 4-5 of them to little kids. Without fail, I would have one or more adults yell at me after for not throwing them the ball.....

I will say this...in 1996, I caught the only foul ball I have ever wanted, off the bat of Eric Davis, who is my absolute favorite ballplayer of all time. I took that ball to Redsfest and had him sign it a few years ago, and now that ball is prominently displayed at my home.
I now never have use to get another ball. If I ever get one again, and my daughter is at the game, she will get it. Otherwise, I will find the nearest kid at the game and give it to him / her, because that kid will get more enjoyment out of that ball than I could ever hope to.
It's also like these adults who line up at the ballpark and anywhere they see a player with all of their memorabilia to get signed. If you are older than the ballplayer you are stalking for an autograph, you have no reason to get that player's autograph. Get out of the damn way and make way for a kid to get his ball autographed.

I push a button and am hit in the face with Dolby Digital Surround Sound. I risk partial hearing loss every time. I get it US Bank. You want to make sure I remember to collect my money and/or retrieve my card. Believe it or not, I am capable of remembering those two sequences in order without forgetting. But there is no logical reason to emphasize every button push at 660 watts. Tornado warning sirens on the first Wednesday of the month think its too loud. God forbid I make a mistake pushing savings account instead of checking account and have to cancel and start over.

People who chat up a storm while you are on the treadmill or working out.
There is one local weatherman, who shall remain nameless, that harasses everyone while they are working out while he pedals a stationary bike very slowly. It doesn't matter if you have headphones or not, once you step into the room you are in his crosshairs.
He pedals slowly-stalking his prey- waiting for the poor sap to casually glance over or nod his/her head in acknowledgement. Then he pounces like a lion in the Serengetti. Once he's engaged, theres no getting out. You could be running at 21 mph on the treadmill with 85 pound dumbells in each hand while blaring "Don't Speak" by No Doubt and you would still be a goner. Morning, afternoon, evening - it doesn't matter. He will get you and when he does, you will realize you just had the worst workout you've had in a long time.

Adams watering hole one evening who was apparently so ill-humored with his dinner company that every time he went to the bar for a cocktail (I was bellied up) he would order a double shot of some vile looking liquor and dispatch it before returning to the table with his drinks.

I just got an offer for 30 Days Free at goazcats.com or whatever the F that site is called. I was there for like 5 minutes a couple of years ago. Stop it already, or I am sending your offer on to _LH.
Ugh. I recently started getting ads from a company I gave my address to 5 years ago and haven't done business with since. I really hate the ones that swear they've removed you from their list but every time they refresh their site, I get re-added. And they don't believe that I've already requested removal. I'm sort of allergic to spam.
When you take a courtesy flush and your butt gets wet. Why must toilets be on steriods?
When I wear black skirts, the toilets in my office think I'm not there and keep flushing while I'm seated. It's like squatting over Niagra Falls. You know it's laundry day when I'm wearing my black skirt to work. I've often wondered if it does the same thing to black butts but haven't had the courage to ask. I'm one happy hour away from getting that question answered though.

Well the cats out of the bag. It is one Pat Berry on the bike.
Anyways, superficial and fake audience laughter on TV shows from a 'live audience'. There's always that one person who has to try and stand out. For example, here's a ridiculous audience member from some show:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH9Tm-daa1k
*Insert your own _joke since I _cannot. I have already been given a yellow card*
With the ongoing Charlie Sheen drama, I finally got around to watching a couple episodes of Two and a Half Men Season 1. The audience laughter seems a little over the top including one loud obnoxious guy who would laugh loudly seconds after it starts to quiet down.
Laughing loudly is fine in fact I encourage it. I like people who laugh funny or loudly - especially at my jokes. But there's a fine line.
This clip above is disturbing. It sounds like Justin Beiber having an orgasm.
Waiting 8-10 seconds until the general audience laughter dies down before erupting is bordering on societal collapse though. It's something I would imagine Charles Manson does at a movie theater
By the way, does anyone watch Two and a Half Men? Does it get better? Its not horrible but I don't see how its one of the most successful sitcoms of all time?

You're a cowboys fan? Aren't you from Louisville? This is exactly what I'm talking about. This is how those douche bags have fans, because the ones from their own town are some of the worst in the league. People don't even fucking watch the game at Jerryworld, you'll see. And D'Angelo Hall says you're welcome. Also, I wouldn't quite say you can beat up on a team without scoring a touchdown, but it is also always fun beating up on those posers, especially after the media keeps hyping them for no good reason.

Attending NFL games in person. Unlikely to happen again for me. Ridiculous ticket prices (there were 85,000 or 90,000 people there, so people are obviously willing to pay it....just not me anymore). $8.50 for a beer, and pretty much the only thing they were selling was pisswater...err, Miller Light. You had to search for the couple of spots with Leine or some Hefeweizen that was okay. Ridiculous numbers of television timeouts that led to ridiculous numbers of advertising promotions in the stadium as well as the multiple ribbon boards that different advertisements the whole game (they also showed fantasy stats as the game progressed...which was actually pretty cool).
I feel old thinking this way, because I used to hear my dad complain about the NFL and thought it was just because he was old. But I really can't stand it. I basically gave up the NFL when I got married in a compromise that let me focus on college football on Saturdays, and yesterday was more evidence that I made the right choice. The NFL is a great product that is packaged in a way that drives me nuts. No more for me.

Not that I've been there in person yet, but I have to imagine that the experience of a game at Jerry World is not too similar to the experience of games at other stadiums, particularly re multiple ribbon boards, fantasy stats, etc. Douche Snyder charges $9 for a beer at FedEx, but at least you have more options than the aforementioned piss water. I guess there's no answer for TV timeouts, but I love the overall experience of going to NFL games, despite the fact that the majority of the ones I've gone to over the last 15 years have ended in heartbreak. The biggest key to me, by far, is making a full day of it, regardless of when the game starts. Not many places, if any, have the traffic I have to deal with to get to the stadium, and it literally ruins my day if I don't leave early enough to beat the bulk of it. Getting there a few hours early to cook and tailgate, then leaving late after letting everyone else squish through the bottle neck first makes for a great time in my opinion. I will never give up my Redskins tickets and will keep going to every home game I can until I'm too elderly to move.

I find NFL football to be an excellent way to do Sunday drinking. You start around 10:30 and drink until 5:00 or so. Go home, drink plenty of water and go to bed crazy early, like 8:00. I find I'm in pretty good shape Monday morning. Early to drunk, early to bed.

I can't agree with this more. But really, I hate the people who go to NFL games. Maybe I am too old, but drinking all day on a Sunday just to yell at some kid and his dad for wearing an opposing teams jersey is not what I would consider a good time.
I hate going to Fed Ex. The last three times I have gone I have sat in many different places in the stadium. The entire place is just a big shit storm. And again walking through the parking lots with Jimmy and his Buddies from Lower Slower Maryland just sucks. Then you get in and see about 400 Steeler jerseys and then watch people spend most of the time fighting each other rather than watch the game...like this:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/29/redskins-fans-fight_n_789277.html
The game is going on while the one guy who can't stand is fighting another guy whose only quality is bleeding too easily.
They have had pepper spray sprayed into the crowd during a game against the Eagles a few years ago, and in general there always seems to be a fight, either inside or outside the stadium when I go.
A good friend of mine used to have season tickets. Two tickets he shared with his extended family, had them for years and years, and they gave them up two years ago. It used to be you at least knew the people around you. Then for the last five years it just became huge douche bags who spent the entire morning getting plowed then trying to polish their best Rocky Balboa impersonation.
Sorry PMI, I can respect your love and excitement of going to Skins game. I hope I never go back again.
I'm probably getting too old.
I think you're looking at it in a pretty pessimistic light, DC. I've been going to games my whole life, and while there are undoubtably things to complain about, it's not nearly the shit storm that you make it out to be. I've been in every area of that stadium many times, and I've seen plenty of shitty people do shitty things. That's part of life at professional sporting events. But I still have plenty of regulars around me at my seats, who are civil and enjoy the experience. I tailgate with a pretty big group usually and we don't ever have any real problems. I can certainly see how some people don't like the NFL experience, but it's not some free-for-all amongst a bunch of goons all over the place. I've been to Philly, and the difference is night and day.
And Steelers thing, while a very dark day in our team history, was the result of a horribly run organization making horrible decisions. Namely Dan Snyder. The Redskins fan support over the years despite being run by the devil for over a decade speaks for itself. If Dan Snyder owned the Steelers over the last dozen years, we wouldn't have seen much black and gold that night, believe that.

It's not a pessimistic view PMI, it's just that I did not have that much fun. I also don't think shitty people doing shitty things is a part of major league sports. Never seen a fight at a baseball game. Never seen it at NBA game. Saw it a few times in hockey, but it involved Penguin fans, so that it understandable. It seems that larger crowds, longer period of times of drinking, and tough guy mentality associated with football make it pretty exclusive to the NFL. I'm sure Fed Ex is not the worst, you point out Philly as a good example, and that's the point I think me and Go were making. I have a friend who goes to Browns games every week, and his wife always complains that she picks him and his friends up, they are hammered and always pissed. When you only have 8 opportunities to do it up, I guess you need to make the best of it.
And my point about the Steelers wasn't just about one game...it's every game. I like the Skins and it kills me how the Ravens and the Steelers have made such HUGE inroads down here. Go to Sports Authority in Rockville and you can buy Skins and Ravens gear.
Anyway, that's a side comment.
I'm sure the games are not free for alls all over the place, but there is definitely different feel at NFL games and the last few games I have gone to have been anything but enjoyable.

I didn't really get into the tea party thing, but my understanding is that that group formed around the idea of lower taxes and smaller government. It's a pretty easy to understand concept, and one that has happened in this country's history. Maybe I'm wrong on that.
Some of the "demands" (http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-for-occupy-wall-st-moveme/)of the Occupy Wall Street include:
- $20 per hour minimum wage
- Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.
- Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.
- One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants
I'm sure there are whackjobs in the "Tea Party" movement, but to act like the Tea Party and the Occupy Wallstreet groups are remotely the same thing is rediculous.
The occupy wallstreet (or the occupy Cincinnati group that it planning to "occupy" lytle park this weekend) "group" has zero concept of what they are trying to do. So you present these crazy demands as if they're the group's in order to discredit that group but then say the group as a whole doesn't really have official demands, also in order to discredit them. You contradict yourself. The latter part is accurate, they don't have official demands. I don't really know much about this movement, but it's unfair to associate the group as a whole with one whackjob. One guy saying it on the forums does not make it "some of the 'demands' of the Occupy Wall Street" crowd, at least not in the sense you seem to want to indicate.
In reference to the Tea Party, you're correct about its origins, but many parts of the movement were taken over by strongly conservative people, as opposed to the libertarians who formed the foundation of the movement. [QUOTE=Kahns Krazy;288984The idea that the Cincinnati group is going to "occupy" Lytle park on a Saturday morning is an excellent summary of what the Occupy movement is all about. Morons.[/QUOTE]
What the hell difference does it make? Let 'em protest. Maybe go to a different park Sat. morning.
Maybe in some small way it'll make them feel better. Who cares? Maybe the 3 branches of gov't will notice that things ain't so peachy while cashing their 6 figure checks and get off their collective asses and do something at some point. Nah. Maybe Angelo Mozillo and other fired ceo's will drop in with some gas cards from their billions in severance and no jail time. Oh, maybe the same guys who created the mess that are still left in power will resign since they have a stellar 12% approval rating from all Americans. Nah. Too much to ask. Some pissed off people showing up to say they are just generally pissed off? Don't see a problem here. Yell, scream, have a good time. The cops need to stand around and collect some OT.

They see that someone is rich and they aren't, and they want someone else to fix that for them. They will even admit as much. The Occupy Wall Street Website disavows the "demands" that were published by a member and states specifically: "There is NO official list of demands"
Agreed. But I think it would be easy for them to tweak their "demands" into doable policy objectives.
For example:
-Lessen debt obligations by increasing the money supply
-Allow student debt to be shed in bankruptcies
-Break up the larger banks
I'm not saying that I necessarily agree with the above demands. But they are concrete objectives. It's a new, incoherent movement. Perhaps they just need a little time to sharpen their policy objectives.

I just want to make sure we understand where the comments began before I chime in...
People who make political and/or legal arguments while showing a completely lack of political and/or legal knowledge.
See Also : The "Occupy Wall Street" crowd.
See also "The Tea Party"
I didn't contridict myself. Those demands are posted on the website. Nobody has taken them down. It is evidence that there is no clear objective of the organization, other than to look silly and draw attention to themselves.
If we are going to start making comparisons, and using phrases like "other than to look silly and draw attention to themselves," then the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street crowd are very, very similar. Anytime people get together and dress up in costumes to make general statements about their frustrations is to me quite silly. But they also accomplish drawing attention to themselves.
The overall movement for the Occupy crowd was to bring attention to Wall Street's influence. And their perception of Wall Street's corruption in the political process.
Just like the Tea Party crowd, who have general grievances, OWS has a general grievance towards what they perceive is corruption of the richest 1%. Each group goes into details, that anyone on either side of the political spectrum can make arguments and not know anything about what they are arguing.
I think it's all of the people who took part in events like"shantytown" at schools like Xavier. Now that they don't have a school organized event to participate in with no real purpose, they find that lacking.
Shanytown is a week to bring awareness about homelessness. Now I think the entire way of doing that was silly. But they also had a general mission.
Leadership really doesn't have anything to do with people who make political and/or legal arguments while showing a completely lack of political and/or legal knowledge.
I mean look at both of their names. The Tea Party. Really? Occupy Wall Street. I don't know what that means. Dressing up like zombies or some Colonial, which is something colonials actually didn't want anyway, is really silly.
So to sum it up, both groups on both sides of extremes are exactly the same.

Wow, OWS is demanding Gov't steal from the few and give it to them. The Tea Party is asking the Gov't to leave them alone. Either way, the two groups have completely different ideas of governance. point taken.
But at least right now, the Tea Party has real power. They played a crucial role in the debt ceiling negotiation deal.
The Tea Party is not just bringing attention to their issue. They are not just representing a general anger. They are shaping policy and the direction of the country. They have a group of congressional representatives who almost seem to answer to them directly.
Not sure if that's a good thing. But it's definitely a difference between them and OWS.
I think Kahns is generally right. How can a representative get behind a movement that demands a $20 minimum wage and amnesty for all consumer debt.

It was a forum post, one of the links on this thread http://occupywallst.org/forum/. They haven't been taken down, because it's a friggin forum. That would be like if I made some post titled "Sarah Palin for President" and then people on other sites started saying that Xavier Hoops as a whole entity backs Sarah Palin for president. And then people like you on other sites would say that it must really be Xavier Hoops' view, since the moderators hadn't deleted the post.
These people have no clear objective, I already agreed with you on that. However, that's how grassroots movements start, off an initial sentiment or complaint but with a potential difference of goals among its members. They're definitely not just trying to draw attention to themselves. As a general rule, people don't risk getting arrested just to be part of a crowd that didn't even get decent TV coverage initially. They're trying to draw attention to what they see as a problem, the apparent corruption in politics associated with the top 1%. All power to them; that's populism at work. It was the same with the Tea Party before. Sometimes such movements lead to change, sometimes they don't. That doesn't take away from a good-faith attempt, no matter the politics.

For those who missed it, the Nytimes article on OWS is sort of funny (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/25/nyregion/protesters-are-gunning-for-wall-street-with-faulty-aim.html)
That cause, though, in specific terms, was virtually impossible to decipher. The group was clamoring for nothing in particular to happen right away — not the implementation of the Buffett rule or the increased regulation of the financial industry. Some didn’t think government action was the answer because the rich, they believed, would just find new ways to subvert the system.
“I’m not for interference,” Anna Katheryn Sluka, of western Michigan, told me. “I hope this all gets people who have a lot to think: ‘I’m not going to go to Barcelona for three weeks. I’m going to sponsor a small town in need.’ ”
Some said they were fighting the legal doctrine of corporate personhood; others, not fully understanding what that meant, believed it meant corporations paid no taxes whatsoever. Others came to voice concerns about the death penalty, the drug war, the environment.
“I want to get rid of the combustion engine,” John McKibben, an activist from Vermont, declared as his primary ambition.
“I want to create spectacles,” Becky
...
One day, a trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, Adam Sarzen, a decade or so older than many of the protesters, came to Zuccotti Park seemingly just to shake his head. “Look at these kids, sitting here with their Apple computers,” he said. “Apple, one of the biggest monopolies in the world. It trades at $400 a share. Do they even know that?”

They have a group of congressional representatives who almost seem to answer to them directly.
Whether you're liberal or conservative, the first JOB of congressmen and congresswomen is to answer to the people they represent. It's not out of line to suggest that a vocal percentage of the country wants fiscal responsibility as its top priority (or big government with an emphasis on a buget-cutting Bible Belt lifestyle).
Since we're in the pet peeves thread, I guess we can add gerrymandering to the list.

Credit cards are a hell of drug.

Why did I know somebody was going to go there (credit cards).
And i agree with you caling them a drug. Yes, they can be useful if you want somebody to float you a few bucks until the end of the month, or in this age of internet commerce to act as your middle man in transactions, as long as you pay them off at the end of the month. Like any "drug" proper use can be quite beneficial, abuse can ruin your life. Particularly the abuse of charging and never intending to pay it back, or paying only the minimum. Now that they make credit card comapnies print on the statement how long it would take, and how much interest you would pay as a minimum only payer, you would think that would be sobering to some people. But, I bet it will fall into the "Little guy can't get ahead" camp.
---
Back to OWS - I can see Kahn's point that some of these people were the same types who would get involved in political/social activities, and now find a void in that part of their life. Particularly if they were emotionally invested in those activities, convinced they were truly making a difference.
College campuses have, historically, been a hotbed for political/social activity/protests. Like society at large, what is the ratio of those who understand vs. those who bought a slick presentation by a biased speaker.
Tea Party, has, like it or not, grown into its own, 4 years now, and a solid mission statement. (I'm not saying it has merit or not, but at least its well articulated) OWS is a newcomer, maybe it will grow into a movement just like Tea Party (who were seen as the same kind of nutjobs as OWS back when it was first gaiing traction), maybe it will falter and fade away. too early to tell.
The overriding 'mission statement' seems to be all about "Some have money and infulence, and some don't, and I'm in the group that doesn't" Which may be a true statement, but I don't think it's earth shattering. I think the same thing has been discussed in bars, and break rooms, and the like for years. But, it does come across as "They have more than me and it's not fair" whining.
I like the "demands" even though the group is so disorganized right now, they have no official demands, and I'm not even sure they know what they want really, other than a big pity party.
Let's see - Raise the minimum wage to $20 - You know that saying about a rising tide raises all ships, you raise the minimum to $20, then suddenly business has deal with the huge jump (almost triple) in their labor costs for minimum wage, entry level type jobs. How dot hey do that? Either triple the price of the product, which means the minimum wage people are right back where they were in purchasing power, or cut staff by a two thirds to keep costs the same. (Closing 2 out of 3 stores,), or something somehwere in the middle of those two extremes. Either way, your purchasing power is dimisnihed, the dollar is worth less, or you lose something in the way of service and conveneince. Do they not get Econ 101. You raise a businesses operating costs, either the price has to go up, or expenses have to go down, or both. Or maybe they do get the point that it would sucker punch those that have saved and sacrificed who find their nest egg is now worth a lot less.
"Outlaw credit reporting agencies" - great, eliminate the watchdog that tries to keep people from overextending themselves. (Not that they have shown to do a great job of it, but still) - If they were to pay their bills on time, they wouldn't even notice the credit reporting agencies existed. Not to mention, if the reporting agencies are doing their job right, they are alerting lenders to those who are unable/unwilling to pay, thereby reducing the businesses bad debt, which leads to lower operating expenses, which, in theory leads to lower prices, which leads to more purchasing power.
"One trillion dolars towards environmental improvement projects" - Okay, I think this was thrown in by the Go Green groups that try to attach themsleves anwhere they can get traction, but still, if we as a nation decided that the Environment Projects they outlined were worth $1 Trillion, great, go for it, now how do we pay for it. Raise taxes in the form of payroll taxes or sales taxes that would further hurt their premise that "They can't geat ahead" , or go into even further national debt.
Then there is Occupy Cincinnati, which seems to think the whole premise is that they are being wronged because public property (which has been put into the custodianship of the government to manage and regulate) has some limits on its use. Like the guys that got $105 tickets last night becuase they didn't leave Piatt Park when it closed at 11pm, then claiming that they were being charged to use their own park. No, you were charged becuase you were in the park when it was closed for the night, most likely for their own safety. Which, of course, they will have to pay out fo the monies they claim they don't have becuase they can't earn a living wage...

That's just one part of the credit card statements - personally I think the other figure they show is just as important (if not more so) - that would be the monthly payment you would need to make if you were to pay off your credit card in 3 years without adding any new purchases. I don't remember off hand if it takes annual fees into consideration.

People on scooters at amusement parks!
Seriously. It is getting ridiculous. Apparently if you're fat, smoke too much, or are over 30 you get to ride a scooter and run over any person who gets in your way and act as though you are the sun and the rest of us just revolve around you. We just got back from Disney World, and I've never seen so many lazy people on scooters. These were not handicapped people who needed a scooter in order to get around (because those people typically bring their own mode of transportation to the parks and aren't a-holes). I have zero problem with a person who has a legitimate reason to be in a wheelchair or scooter and who skips to the head of the line with a valid handicap pass. Those people have, most likely, gone through hell and deserve something easy in life.
No, these scooter users were lazy, fat, heavily smoking people who didn't want to walk and who wanted a reason to compete for "The World's Biggest Scooter Jackass" award. By our 5th day in the parks I was ready to commit scootercide. If you can ride Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Tower of Terror, etc. and stand in line for said ride for at least a half an hour, then you don't NEED a scooter, you're just lazy and WANT a scooter because you're lazy. Perhaps, if you need to ride a scooter and you're only 40 years old you should lay off the funnel cakes and cigarettes I saw so many scooter riders partaking of around the parks. Just a suggestion.

Seriously. It is getting ridiculous. Apparently if you're fat, smoke too much, or are over 30 you get to ride a scooter and run over any person who gets in your way and act as though you are the sun and the rest of us just revolve around you.
Or...you might have just had a long, misspent youth like this guy. (This is actually at Disney and his girlfriends were on them too)

Dude is 100% worthless. I don't necessarily blame him for continuing to do what he does. It bothers me so much that apparently there is a significant portion of the population that thinks he is a value-add.
He's also lazy. His math is often wrong, and since saving money is all about numbers being right, it pisses me off when he does that.
I called him out one time on a "price of gas" story he ran where he picked an arbitrary number out of thin air for average miles per gallon that an average car gets. He used something like 14 miles per gallon. He actually responded, admitted he was lazy and said he based his number on the fact that he sees a lot of SUV's on the road.

My pet peeve is people who assume smokers are lazy and fat.

I'm sorry, but really? I realize I hit a nerve because you smoke, but this is your argument? Because you "do 3-5 miles daily" you think every other smoker in the world is like you? Honestly? That's just silly. In any event, there are two areas of Disney World (one near Cinderella's Castle and one in Adventureland) filled with youngish people (30 and 40 year olds) who were all smoking like their life depended upon it, who were overweight, and who were all sitting on scooters. I don't think they've gotten your memo about a smoker's exercise regime. You might need to do a better job of getting the message out there!
And besides the people who we saw at Disney who were fat, lazy and smoking, I also saw more than my fair share of people at X who were overweight and smoking. I also saw many overweight people taking smoke breaks outside many buildings downtown when I worked. I also personally know several people who smoke and who are overweight. So, while not all smokers are fat, lazy and ride scooters at Disney (and I never said that they were), it is also safe to say that not all smokers are "doing 3-5 miles daily". Regardless, I'm gonna go ahead and stick with my original pet peeve, and you should definitely go ahead and get the info out there about that smoker's exercise regime! I know lots of people who were at Disney a week ago who could use it!!

Modern "protesting" here in the states. I must be getting old because I just don't understand what most "protesters" are protesting for or against anymore. I got stuck in a nightmarish traffic debacle near Oak Hills H.S. this afternoon because they were dismissed early as a result of the Westboro lunatics protesting at the school. Why they're protesting at Oak Hills, no one really knows, but they're there, and as a result so are the anti-Westboro protesters which is exactly what Westboro wants - a big scene to draw attention to their lunacy and to attract other lunatics to their "cause". These Westboro people aren't protesting to make a change or to influence lawmakers. They just like to get people all riled up and piss people off. What kind of protesting is that?
Then I get home and read that PETA is protesting at Jeff Ruby's downtown because it's a steak house. And, to make it even better, the PETA members are supposed to be dressed like zombies to show that only zombies should be eating flesh, or some weirdo sentiment like that. Seriously?!?! I wish I had the kind of life where the worst thing I had to worry about was whether or not another human being was eating tofu or steak for dinner. These people need to get a job, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, something with which to occupy their time.
And speaking of occupying something - I'm completely convinced that 9 out of 10 people who attend these "Occupy" protests don't understand what they're supposed to be protesting. I want to support the message of holding Wall Street accountable for its practices, but I'm not sure that's what the message really is. What's scarier is that I'm not sure anyone knows if that's what the message really is. I'm not yet convinced that these aren't a bunch of bored, lonely, unemployed people looking for something to do.
People around the world are protesting to gain freedoms and civil liberties and to enact real change, and we have people dressed like zombies protesting a steak house restaurant and people milling about in a park supposedly protesting Wall Street-esque practices. (Sigh). I never used to understand why my grandfather just shook his head all the time, but I'm getting it now that I'm older. DC - I will concur (that's for Go because it really sounds like he likes when people use legalese in everyday convos ;)) that the Tea Party message is muddled and that there are many people at the rallies who are there simply because they hate Obama and maybe themselves.
I think that at the outset the idea of holding the government accountable for how it uses tax payer dollars was not too far off the mark. I mean, really, who in this country, liberal or conservative, doesn't want the government to make the most of the money it collects from its citizens. Representatives of both parties are guilty of pork barrel spending and both parties should be held responsible for that. Sadly, the Tea Party (what a stupid name) lost that message in favor of freak shows like Michele Malkin, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, etc. Now, the Tea Party has lost all credibility with independents like myself.

This gets my goat as well. The "occupy" movement is so splintered that very few of them even know why they're there. Hell, the occupy Cincinnati group is now protesting solely for a place to protest.
This knucklehead group seems to be nothing more than a bunch of recent college grads upset that the real world isn't inviting them in with $100K+ jobs. They thought that all they had to do was get a degree then their life was made. Work for a living? Earn your salary? That's ridonkulous.
My cousin displays this behavior. He's had no less than six jobs since graduating 3 years ago and he's quit each one because he hasn't made CEO in 6 months. He's had quotes such as "they make me do too much" and "they don't like that I can't come in 5 days a week." You're an unmarried, childless college graduate! What obligations, other than sheer laziness, do you have that require a shortened work week?

Good samaritan drivers directly in front of you that feel the need to let everyone merge in during traffic.
Has this ever happened to you? You are stuck in traffic. Lets say it was a two lane road in Northern Kentucky near NKU. The right lane is closed due to construction. You are in the left lane. The car in front of you stays 10 feet behind the car in front of them, inviting all the slackers in the right now to come in. Then you get the cheaters who deliberately go into the right lane to bypass traffic and sneak in the left lane while Mr and Mrs Putz in front of me keeps a ridiculous safe distance behind the car in front of them.
I understand 1, maybe 2 cars you let through. But 5/6/7 is unacceptable. You are not Gandhi. You will never be Gandhi. Just move up or turn in your drivers license and get a crotch rocket with a Nic Cage Vanity License plate that can simultaneously carry Rosie O'Donnell AND Kathy Bates

You know the kind, talking about everything but the actual game and sounding like the world's biggest morons at the same time. I was sort of happy when they started commenting on the looks of the Morgan State players because at least at that point I figured they were at least paying some sort of attention to what was happening on the court.
I don't know if they're trying to be cute or charming, but mostly they just make it seem like all women are uniformed when it comes to sports and they wind up irritating everyone sitting around them, including the men.
I know it seems like I'm betraying the sisterhood or something, but seriously, nothing annoys me more than people who use a basketball game to hold a garden party while those of us who actually have a clue are trying to enjoy the game and couldn't care less about Clinique's latest fall colors.

I had a woman come into my store yesterday after she was aimlessly wandering around looking at stuff and she wanted to buy some tea (it's what I sell at my store). I inform her that one of the samples out front is a mixture of two of our products and she interrupts me with "How much is it!?!?" I try to explain to her the pricing and then attempt to show her how much she's getting and she cuts me off with "No, don't show me that. I don't want that. Do you have any smaller jars or anything?" I try to explain to her that we don't and I go to show her again and she cuts me off "NO, I DON'T WANT THAT!! JUST SHOW ME ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CONTAINER HOW MUCH IT IS!" At this point, I give up and attempt do it her way but she storms off in a huff before I can continue.
What is it about retail associates that makes people think they can treat us like shit? Honestly, I'm nice and I've had plenty of compliments given to me by customers in front of my boss and yet there's always a handful of people who insist on acting ugly no matter what, as if I'm your pawn to disrespect at your whim.
Customer service is a two-way street. Yes, it is my duty to help you out as best I can and give you service with a smile while leaving my problems outside. HOWEVER, it is your duty to give me a fair chance to assist you. The silent treatment, the stink eye, bitchy remarks, cutting me off, that does not help me to help you. Get the f$%k over yourself. You want something, you may or may not know what it is, but I'm trying my hardest to help you find it, something similar, or perhaps something better.

Puerto Ricans with giant Puerto Rican flags on everything they own.
No, I did not get the memo. Apparently I have to put a flag on all of my property if I am a Puerto Rican living abroad. There's a difference between being proud and being obnoxious; these people are the latter.
Fun fact: 90% of them were born in the U.S. and have never even been to the damn island.
And on that note, another pet peeve is latinos who are born and raised in the U.S. but still speak with a heavy spanish accent despite not knowing HOW TO ACTUALLY SPEAK SPANISH!!!!
Snipe is in love with you right now

Ditto. You just gotta brush it off. Some people hate their lives or feel entitled. They take that hatred and direct it towards others to feel better about themselves. I work in a 911 center and we hear from people all the time who talk to us like we are complete garbage. It is infuriating. A little respect towards someone, no matter who they are, goes a long way.

Super minor pet peeve. Ambiguous labeling of restroom doors. I was in a restaurant last week that had an overly stylized "M" one one door, and a "W" on the other. Those letters aren't all that different looking. I hate that it makes me stand there looking at the two doors looking like I'm trying to figure out if I'm a man or a woman.

Was it by chance at a place called Brick House Tavern? They do that shit and it trips me out every single time

These kind of people, I'm convinced, never had to work retail. Working the return desk at Target my freshman year at X, changed me forever. I always try to go out of my way to be nice to people working retail and I always tip high at restaurants. It's true that sometimes there are crappy cashiers or servers, but for the most part people are just trying to make a living. Retail and serving are totally thankless jobs, and people treat you like dirt.

This.
Plus I'm convinced that these types of people are so demanding, especially if they're looking for something specific, that their asshole tendencies just come out if you don't read their mind and get them exactly what they want. Ugh.
But the worst part is that I actually like my job. A lot. Sure it's still a typical retail job and I sorta knew what I was getting involved with, but it's still a shame to see that people act so tacky and rude.
I'm a horrible person at times but it's deservedly so. Like towards idiot UDump fans and sUCks fans. But honestly, there are limits and times when it's held in check, especially towards nice people.

This provides a nice segue way into a pet peeve of mine: senior citizens. They generally just slow shit down. At stores, on the highway, walking on a sidewalk....all over the place. And it's not so much that they are slower because I understand that age happens and people can't move as fast. It's that they are oblivious to how slow they go.

People who back up into parking spaces. Rather than just go in front first, they confuse and slow down everyone else by going past the open spot, then backing in.
This can be bad especially when the person behind assumes they don't want the spot when they go past and tries to go in themselves. IMO once you drive past the spot you lose your right to it.
Pisses me off.

As another person with retail experience, sometimes you have to realize that most customers just don't have any clue as far as what to expect for pricing at your place. I'll always try to bend over backwards to cater to their every need and whim, but some customers just want some space and come in with a fixed budget in mind.
I feel your pain, especially in this economic climate.

Good luck with that. When Xavier makes it to New Orleans, there is a certain section of the French Quarter where you will fit right in.
Since basketball season has started, my pet peeve are the people who stop in the aisles to talk to their friends when the game is over thus blocking everyone who is trying to leave the game. Can you at least step in the row to let us pass? Then, the people who stop at the top of the stairs and congregate as they wait for others. Please, move to the side so everyone else can leave.

Here is one MOR would love. On ESPN broadcasts....after the final media timeout of the first half, they always give a little promo for what is coming up at halftime. The first bullet is always.."A look around the Big East" or "Big East Update" even when the two teams playing aren't in the Big East. BS.

Went to Krogers two nights ago at about 11:45. Parking lot was pretty empty. As I was walking back to my car, I noticed someone driving slowly behind me.
I get to my car and I guys see the turn signal go on behind me. He was sniping my parking spot. Meanwhile there are about 20 other open parking spots around including one that was 5 spots down. Homosapiens are bizarre sometimes.
