Wow, we dodged a tornado this morning. Lot's of damage in the area, but my work and home came out fine. We watched the system closely, could tell it was a bit north of us, so we went out back and snapped the pictures of the funnel cloud forming. Couldn't take more because it moved behind the trees that you see.

My house is in the area where the tornado passed, so I went home after the system passed. My house was fine, but there was a lot of destruction in the neighborhood. There are a lot of very large trees in the neighborhood, but many of them are gone. There is a clear line of the path of the tornado, and it missed my house by 500 yards or so.

I just hope she didn't lose all her clothing in the disaster.

Her home and office are fine, but her dad owns a huge store that is like a Home Depot, and apparently, it was clobbered. Phone service is out up there, and she hasn't talked with her dad, but she does know that several ambulances were dispatched to the area. She tried to go up there, but the police have the whole north end of town blocked off from the public. I only got into my neighborhood after showing them my driver's license.

Looks like that system will pass just north of ATL. Should be an interesting night.

Just got off the phone with Miss Muskie. She finally got up to the store. There were no injuries at the store. Her dad is fine except for the fact that his store received bad damage. It is hard to paint an adequate picture of this store. We have a huge Home Depot and a huge Lowes, and this store is bigger than the 2 of them combined.

CNN.com has an article about the tornado that hit Tupelo, MS. It shows a picture of a large furniture store that got demolished. That isn't the store you are talking about is it?

If so, I'd be happy to document it extensively for insurance purposes.

I talked to her at 8:30, and she was headed to court at 9. (Remember boys... she's a lawyer.) Anyway, her office and the court house were well out of the path. Well, her mom calls and asks Miss M if she can run up to dad's and pick up her alimony check, which Miss M agrees to do. As she approaches the store, she sees the tornado coming, parks her Escalade because she doesn't know what else to do, and watches the thing plow into parking lot and dad's store. It didn't actually make a direct hit on the store, but it did quite a bit of damage AND the sprinkler system went off for some reason and doused all of the inventory... including the alimony check that she was sent to pick up.

Lawyering is way down her list. Her fantasy is to become a stripper named Mandy and make her fortune selling tee shirts on the beach at spring break that say, "I feel like dammit." Dad's worth half a billion. She claims to be totally independent, but all of her credit card bills go straight to his office, he bought her house and SUV, and slips her a few large bills every time he sees her.

Oh. That sucks. Never mind. Definitely not my type.

Does she have a sister? My wife won't mind as long as she doesn't know.

You were being warned for your wicked ways.

We had an earthquake on Saturday (3.1) and another twister on Saturday night. The earthqualke rattled my house like a sonic boom and sent my cats running for the basement. Having lived years and years in CA and Japan, I knew immediately what it was, but it surprised me because earthquakes just don't happen here. The second twister missed me again, but took out my office email server at my ISP. That was a pain because they didn't get it back up until late Monday afternoon.

I think these are warnings, but I think they are telling Miss Muskie to treat me better and for her not to worry her little head about the other women that come and go.

High on Fred's list of under-rated movies of all time... The 1982 Classic with Willie Ames and Scott Baio...
