I found this article about Cincy kids looking at colleges. I read this quote by one of the kids and I just don't get it...

Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati were both attractive to Tim Canterbury, but he couldn't decide on one or the other.

He found elements of both schools during a recent visit to the campus of The Ohio State University and decided to go there.

"If Xavier and UC had a baby, it would be Ohio State. That's why I liked it," Canterbury said.

Huh?

Here is my guess: UC is a state college and is cheep while XU is a great overall school and has great athletics, combine those two you get OSU to some degree.

He's saying he likes aspects of both XU and UC, but both lack what the other has. OSU has both.

Not much to read into there.

And if Mr. Hanky and the Elephant Man had a baby, it would be Dayton.

I have no idea what aspects of each school he sees that shows up at OSU. If he is implying that he likes a crappy campus with a bunch of hillbillies for fans then I guess OSU is the place for him.

Sounds like the kid has a serious ego problem that needs to be stroked. Question: How seriously was xavier on this kid and how good is he? And please, why does he have to negate the two local schools? He made his choice. That's it. Move on.:D

Q, this wasn't an athletics based article, if he's referring to the one I'm thinking he is. It was about non-athletes choosing schools.

Still, I think that the quote has no meaning. People say things all the time that really make no sense. No matter how you cut it, it's a terrible analogy.
