Take it for what it is worth, but there is a rumor on the Kentucky Rivals Board that Chris Wright is looking to transfer from Dayton. If that happens, Gregory may as well resign, because next year would be brutal without him.

Yeah, I'm sure Kentucky Nation is in deep with the motivations of Chris Wright.
Got to love the off season!

Chris Wright is going to be a great player...UD really needs him
I'd put the probability of Wright transferring to UK around zero. Though it's an entertaining rumor, Wright could've gone to UK if he wanted as they had offered him, but he chose UD. Wright wants to be at Dayton.

There has been a changing of the guard at UK, though.

For the good of the A10, I hope that doesn't happen. Plus, most UD fans would just explode....it would be the apocalypse at UDPride.

Once I read this I went over there to check and didn't find anything...I would love to see the reaction over there

UD knows all...they are like that annoying guy/girl in class that always knew the answer and always had to be right...just want to slap them or yell "shut up" in the middle of the class

I hear ya, Go, but unless the University of Kentucky uprooted and moved to Trotwood, Ohio, I don't see Wright leaving the friendly confines of UD. One of the big selling points for Wright going to UD was that it was close to home...and that Wright would resurrect them from the ashes.

Maybe Wright talked to Trent Meacham. Of course, the difference would be that Meacham had to walk on at Illinois. Wright would presumably get a scholarship.

I'd be more concerned if fans from Jacksonsville (the school not the NFL team) started this rumor then Kentucky.
That one's for you 87!

Apparently the UD board has gotten a wiff of a Chris Wright rumor, but it isn't UK they are talking about, but rather IU. IU is going to be down for a few years and just doesn't make much sense. But it is the offseason, so the diehards have to do something with all their spare time. Posted the link just incase anyone cared.

What a huge blow to the program, Xavier's not UD's, if London Warren transferred.

I don't think there is much to this.
But I'm also wondering why the Kentucky board would come up with a rumor like this.

Maybe Wright wants to play in the NCAA's, because he probably won't at UD. Just ask Brian Roberts.

If Wright goes let's hope Gregory stays, he is such an asset to the XU program, his mediocre coaching and recruiting is the key to us beating UD.

Maybe the pick up games he and other UD players are playing with Staten and Payne are an effort to woo them to UK with him?

This is total BS. Its just a bunch of blow hards from IU and UK that have nothing else to talk about in the offseason so they start rumors about elite recruits from 'mid-major' conferences. LOL. This is humorous, next week after the Derby Classic, Holloway will be on the verge of decommitting from Xavier to go to U of L or UK like Odia. Classic. Its the offseason I guess you have to be creative to pass the time.

Maybe he's like OJ Mayo, he's going to bring the whole team in with him. ;)
Hey Adam, how long do you legitimately give Gregory before it's time for him to go? I can see not wanting to get rid of him now, but if UD takes a step back next year (which is possible), would it be time for him to move on?
Also, I see Gregory is out recruiting PG's pretty hard. Who's leaving?
jdm2000

And just to clarify, I'm not implying Gregory should be gone--23 wins, NIT in a year where I thought that would be successful for UD, a decent class coming in, commit from Staten for a couple years from now--but I'm just wondering how much rope you think he has up there.

I'm not big on giving coaches "x" number of years. I want to see progress. I have seen progress over the last two and I want it to continue. If it stalls or regresses for a couple of years in a row, it's time to reevaluate things.
There's rumors that Stephen Thomas may be looking to transfer back to a school in Indiana, but I haven't heard that's really very likely from my contact near the program. It's more likely that Thiago Cordiero is going the way of Charles Bronson and James Cripe...seeing the writing on the wall and wanting to actually play his last year dropping to D2. There's also supposedly a chance an incoming recruit may be a non-qualifer at the start and may be a prop 48 for 09.
My guy can confirm the Thiago possibility, but the other two are just hearsay at the moment.

A non-qualifier would be rough, and I would assume would come from the group of Williams, Johnson, or Benson, since Fabrizius was being recruited by Northwestern, wasn't he?

Adam, any truth to the Little rumors? I know it has been mentioned that he could be a possible transfer. I live up here in Centerville and my wife is a prof at UD so I have heard a bit of chatter about him. Anything solid on him? I think he would be foolish to leave UD.

Those same rumors popped up last year, too, when Plummer was shown the door and Des transferred to wherever it was he transferred. Evidently the rumors this year are about going to Europe to play professionally or dropping out to take a shot at the NFL (ala Antonio Gates). Just completely random stuff.
Charles is far from a serious guy and seems to say whatever pops into his mind...and uses Facebook quite a bit. Him leaving wouldn't shock me, but I wouldn't be calling a bookie just yet...

I've heard noting on CL or any of the incoming guys being a non qualifier. The only reason CL would leave is because his mom is apparently quite sick. There was an article in the paper earlier this year about that and how he almost left at the end of last year because of it. The Antonio Gates rumor only started because it was basically a paradoy in a blog somewhere out in cyber space. I swear, the internet is going to ruin sports.

The NFL thing is more than a parody on a blog. Scouts have told people in the program he has the perfect skill set to be a TE.

I think that Gregory is doing alright. The recruiting is up. Chris Wright getting injured was a major setback. You may not have been aware of that.

Reggie Butler should have been a defensive end for the Bengals.

UDPride has a thread saying Thiago Cordiero is leaving UD. Gregory has been recruiting a couple point guards but doesn't have any open 'ships, so someone must be going.
But, it looks like UD's top pick for a PG, J. Simmons (a JUCO player), may end up at tOSU. Basically, OSU wanted a guy named Dumes most of all, but Dumes is going to Indiana (because.....wait for it.....Holloway is coming here). So, it looks like this:
Holloway to XU
Dumes to IU
Simmons (potentially) to OSU
Which would leave UD going after a high school PG from Kentucky named Edmondson, I think.
I guess Cordiero never quite panned out. He was a JUCO big man, but I don't recall him playing much against X.

Hilarious. Man we are going to bring what, 12 guards, and they have Jihad Warren.
And they will be pimping this guy Edmondson as the best thing since sliced bread. I laugh just thinking about how good Warren London was going to be.

I swear, if UD had a point guard this past season, even with Wright out for half of it, they really could've done some serious damage and possibly edged into the big dance. Warren isn't really a point guard in the sense of "running a team's offense". He's more a conduit around the perimeter for throwing the ball around until Roberts could get open.

Dayton certainly would have been right there for a bod, if someone other then the Jacksonville Jihad was running the team. What ever happened to that freshman, what's his face, who was supposed to be pretty good? I don't think he picked up any minutes. Is he done? Thomas?

There was a thread on UDWhine that Thomas might be taking the bus back to Indiana, and that scholly was the one to open up for Simmons. So they might still be losing another player before all is said and done.
I know reading their board is kind of strange...but it's like the comics, sometimes they are just so damn funny you can't resist going back to read them.

I have nothing against LW...I just don't want him running the team for 25-30 min a game. He creates havoc in spurts out there. Edmondson is not an option for us nor a good one. No point in bringing in a true freshman that's just going to sit the bench anyway. Lowery is visiting UD this weekend and most likely will be offered. He's from MD and shot 40% from 3 point line and 78% from the FT line while making the JUCO All American team. He hit 6 three pointers in the JUCO All-Star game this past Sat. That's exactly what we need, somone who can handle the ball and at least be a THREAT to hit the open J....unlike LW. Ironically, he looks like LW.
