Sadly, I don't own an iPod. Just haven't had the need to get one yet, I guess. However, on the old fashioned cd player in my Jeep, I have been listening to AC/DC Live (the 2-disc version) lately. I guess I was just in the mood for some of those songs that just get you jacked up - Hells Bells, Thunderstruck, TNT, Highway to Hell, Back in Black, etc. Now that I think about it, I may have purchased that when I was at X! I'll have to check the year on it.

By the way, ATL, enjoy the rep points!

Right back at ya. I have two AC/DC discs in the car player right now- Highway to Hell and Razor's Edge. Good stuff. My wife hates it, saying, "All the songs sound the same." To which I reply, "Hell yeah they do, and they all kick much ass."

Funny, my wife was complaining about the musical choice the other day too. I simply said, "Quit your b----ing and shut the f--- up"...on the inside. On the outside it came out as, "Ok, we can change it, but can I just listen to a song or two first?" Things have become so much easier now that I understand my role as a servant, um, husband.

I'm on board with anything from U2 and I'm man enough to admit that I enjoy a little Hootie, as well. The other selections are quality too, but must take a backseat to U2/Hootie.

Agree. For some reason, I usually get in the Hootie mood when down south. Was in TN last week.

I just got done listening to Bulls on Parade.

First, U2 is ridiculously good. Good music, good lyrics, lots o' variety. Seriously, listen to their early stuff, some middle stuff, now...they have had so many phases and have been successful in all. The pop/techno U2 almost went too far, but they caught themselves and got in touch with their roots again. Hopefully that grows another 20 years of great sh!t to listen to!!!!!!!!! (FYI - you're not alone...I know quite a few people that hate U2. For the life of me I don't understand why or how, but they do.)

Bulls on Parade...kick arse music. The majority of Rage is pretty good and can rattle your bones.

For a similar, yet Celtic, effect, I love listening to Flogging Molly. (And I'm a greezy EYE-talian!!)

Things I have been loading on the iPod the past month or so:

The Fray
Tom Petty (getting ready for the concert this summer)
Andrew Bird
Dropkick Murphys/Flogging Molly/Gaelic Storm (Long live St. Paddy's Day)
Foo Fighters (new CD is pretty good)
Pearl Jam
Muse
Linkin Park

Joins music already on the iPod:
Dave Matthews Band
Guster
Outkast
Jack Johnson
Johnny Cash
Led Zeppelin
Nickel Creek
Nirvana
Oasis
311

Gotta love the iPod or anything similar...so much music, so many options

There is not a single AC/DC album that you can go wrong with. I have all of them on my Ipod. I currently just loaded the Flo Rida CD as well. I've got a little bit of everything on my IPOD that is what happens when you have 80GB to fill.

Don't own an iPod, but have lot of nice classical music playing on the computer right now. Very decent mix.
In the car CD's include early Mozart piano concertos, #6 is a favorite and if you listen to the third movement you'll understand why Notre Dame and I aren't on speaking terms.
Also got in that car-disc collection the five Mozart violin concertos, his piano trios, and the Stones 40 Licks concert, and Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and another whose name escapes me singing Lukenbock Texas,
Oh, and a Gershwin Piano Concerto in F, the Gershwin-Kaufman "Of thee I sing." love those lyrics--"She's the illegitimate daughter of the illegitimate son of the illegitimate nephew of Napoleon, (which means she's of royal birth." and a medley of Cole Porter stuff and more Stones.

Little off topic, but have any of you been watching VH1Classic's Classic Albums series? I have DVR'd the entire series. The best so far are The Band's The Band, Steeley Dan's Aja and Elton's Goodbye Yellowbrick Rd. I'm gonna watch Who's Next, well, next.

Also, the other night I caught Jonathan Demme's concert film Neil Young: Heart of Gold on Showtime. Pretty good.

I'm a huge Wilco fan and have seen them several times. Prior to that I was obsessed with Uncle Tupelo. You Chicagoans have it pretty good for that genre. I believe Wilco is based there as well as my favorite label, Bloodshot Records. Love those Waco Brothers.

If you haven't seen it, I'm Trying to Break Your Heart is one of the great rockumentaries. It chronicles the making of the sublime Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Only one I have seen is the Who's Next one, and I DVR'ed it. It's really good, and spends a good deal of time on each song. Some of the best scenes are when the engineer dissects each song, isolating Moon's drumming, Entwistle's bass, etc. Good stuff. Who's Next is in my top 5 of all time, if not #1 so I was really interested in that one.

My only advice is to be prepared to get into the movie. There are times where it moves a little slowly because it has to. I really enjoyed it, but I'm pretty sure there would be some days where I would not have. Hirsch really looks like the kid. The pictures at the end are startling. Penn's commitment to the authentic story is unlike anything I have ever seen in a movie.

Tons of Slaughterhouse, which is a rap group comprised of Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce da 5'9'' and Joe Buddens.

I know not many people on this board listen to rap, but these guys are the best thing going right now.

Do you entitle this the "The St. X mixer 2000 mix?"

Haha, no. I went to McNick actually. It is on the Summer Jams playlist along with Big Willie Style and some others. I checked out some Slaughterhouse actually and they aren't too bad. I'll have to listen to them some more.

I was big into the Cure in the late 80's. I've been listening to some of that lately, and I still like it.

I don't know if you caught this Juice but Slaughterhouse's song "The One" is a free download right now on iTunes if you're interested in checking them out.

The Cult..Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary, The Rain... etc plus a half dozen more. Great stuff from the late 80's to early 90's. A new band (to me) Hollywood Undead. They are somewhere between Eminem and Limp Bizcut. I would call it rock/rap.

Them Crooked Vultures self-titled studio album leaked this morning. It sounds quite good so far. The band is made up of Dave Grohl (drums), John Paul Jones (bass), Josh Homme (vocals, guitar) and Alain Johannes (guitar). I would recommend checking them out if you are a fan of any of these guys respective bands (Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Probot, Eagles of Death Metal, Eleven, Kyuss).

Sufjan Stevens - The BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway)

Very intricate project by Sufjan. More of an arrangement than an album. If you liked any of his past work, check it out.

The Flaming Lips - Embryonic

This band is a trip. Crazy music, crazy live show. I am going to see them, Phoenix and Pete Yorn in December...super pumped for that show.

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

Stellar 4th album by the group. Listen to "Lisztomania" and "1901" and you will get the general sound of the group.

Phrazes for the Young by Julian Casablancas

If the Strokes were an 80s new wave band then they would sound like what Julian did with Phrazes. Great album and makes me wish the Strokes 4th album was coming out sooner.

I saw The Features, The Whigs and The Dead Trees at a concert last week and have been listening to them 3 on the reg. All 3 are great up and coming bands. Each of them have their own sound with The Whigs sounding like Kings of Leon should (the irony of that statement is that all 4 from KoL were at the show and are big fans of both The Whigs and The Features), The Features are more of a southern Spoon and The Dead Trees are a fuller sounding Ben Kweller.

Don't like ipods, but I've been listening to:

Animal Collective: www.myspace.com/animalcollective

I bought their album "Feels" which after 3 listens really grabbed me. Highly recommended.

Wooden Wand is another band I've found recently. I think their done now, but pretty awesome folk:

A couple of new cd's. A group that opened up for Taking Back Sunday at the Cintas called "F.U.N." Interesting group, very ecclectic style. And lets just say that their name is no false advertisement. Honestly, I think that a lot of folks would just enjoy it. Their single is "At Least I'm Not As Sad As I Used To Be". Another one I like is called "Be Calm". Their cd is titled Aim and Ignite.

The big mainstay on my iPod right now is Say Anything's new cd that just came out. Got a chance to meet the group and they are freaking cool fellas. Laid back, polite, and just interested to meet all their fans. Their last album was a disappointment in that it was quite a change of pace as to their first major release, titled "...Is a Real Boy". This new one is self-titled. It's upbeat, kind of punk/rock/alternative with probably some of the better lyrics out there.

Hopefully some of you have a chance to check out these groups. I know some of you liked Muse, and I still feel that's a solid solid album. Sportscenter has been playing their single during their Ultimate Highlites.
