All avitar images for the next week will be honoring my friend, Natalie. She has finished her first 4 rounds of chemo (red death). Now comes the surgery on Friday. We are hoping for a lumpectomy, but a full mastectomy is still a distinct possibility.
Nat had further complication when she developed a staph infection at the hospital when they inserted the port that they use to inject the chemo. This particular brand of staph appears to be resistant to antibiotics, so there are long term dangers with that as well.
As bad as it sounds, her prognosis is much better now than it was 3 months ago. If all goes well this week, she will be looking at a full recovery.
Best wishes and prayers glow. She's a beauty.

Nat. My wife had to deal with the same thing except for the staph....She's been free for four years now and we thank God every day. It'll take too long to explain, but I'm sending the guardian angel Elizabeth to watch over you during the surgery and after. Don't worry, she'll find you. God and his angels be with you, you're in our prayers.

Wish Nat the best of luck. Ive been there dealing with my mom having it, minus the staph and it is a lot to deal with. Once again good luck!

Guys, I just got back from Mobile where Nat had the surgery. That part went well. It ended up being a lumpectomy. They removed the tumors and then removed and tested the sentinel lymph node. It did have a tumor, so they had to go back in and remove the axillary nodes as well.
We will get the biopsy results on Tuesday or Wednesday to see if the cancer has spread to those other lymph nodes.
Nat is doing well and is in good spirits. The surgery was Friday. She went out for dinner Saturday evening, and she went to mass this morning. I was on her case for pushing so hard, but she wants to show "the invader" who is boss.
Thanks for the update, Glow. I will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for everyone for continued thoughts and prayers.
Pathology results came back today, and it is not good news. The cancer has spread to the lymph system, and there are suspected tumors in the left breast as well. Nat will meet with her cancer doctor tomorrow to go over options.
Ugh. Arrrgh. Crap. Dammit.

So sorry the results didn't come back as we'd hoped. Hopefully the docs will have a solution tomorrow. I'll be sure to keep Nat (as well as her family and friends) in my prayers.

Glow, the angel stays until further notice. You're smart to rein Natalie in. No matter what the outcome of the biopsys is, hang in there. We'll keep praying. Take care.
Glow, hang in there. Keep the faith. We'll keep Nat in our prayers.
