View Full Version : Cintas Lot Parking

I park in Lot B/C4 - looks like they are taking away all Montgomery Road entry to the strip mall parking. That just leaves a left turn onto Cleanay where everyone and their mother is trying to turn on during gameday, as this also leads to the closer Cintas Center lots.
The area around that left turn is always a cluster, even when the Montgomery Road entry was open. Are we all going to have to get to the games 90 minutes prior to tip-off to actually see tip-off? Or will a police presence shutter cars through without having to wait for the left turn light?
If there's no direction of traffic, that line to turn left is going to take forever.

It does seem bad. I park in C2 and it looks like they want me to enter via Cleanay as well or St. Francis Xavier Way. I always used to come from Victory Parkway and up that hill behind the Cintas Center. That left turn on to Cleansy does suck and that’s why I always avoided it. This doesn’t seem well thought out.

And to add to it, the checkpoint to scan parking passes for Lot B/C4 is the same route as those going to C2. So that will back things up even more.
There has to be a police presence directing traffic, otherwise, there's no way this works. Montgomery Road will be backed up for a mile.
Did they shut off the back route entry as well? Wondering if I can come up through campus the back way.

Got an email about this today. My parking is in R3 and it says I should access it from Cleneay. We’ve always gotten there from Victory Parkway to Ledgewood to left on the street that runs behind Cintas, up the hill to the parking lot. The email also says you can use the Waze app to “XBB - Access Point 2” to get there. I entered that and it took me the way we did last year, not over Cleneay. I emailed back to get some confirmation.

I always come from the Dana Ave exit to Montgomery to Cleneay; I usually try to get to the game about 60 minutes before tipoff. The noncon games (outside of Wake) shouldn't be a problem, although I wouldn't be too worried about traffic even during the Big East games later in the season.

Seems like they are ignoring on purpose.
Why take away entry from the shopping center entrances? I have noticed card dealership cars in that lot, wonder if they got a bunch of complaints.
Thinking about either trying to go through campus on the back side, or coming up Montgomery in the opposite direction to turn right onto Cleanay. If this is a cluster tomorrow, everyone is going to be complaining and they won't be able to ignore. I'll reserve further judgment until then.

I would really like to understand the problem that they think this solves. Seems like they are going out of their way to create a bottleneck, but I guess we'll just have to see how it works.
That being said, I usually get to the game no later than an hour for game time, so hopefully I won't see the inevitable backups on Montgomery due to this.

Last year, the only way in and out of R3 was up the hill from behind Cintas. In usually wasn’t a problem, but out took forever. I’m planning to go that same way tomorrow night. We’ll see what happens.

One other thing occurred to me just now - did Xavier say how people would be getting out of the parking lots? If you can't get out from B/C4 directly to Montgomery and have to use the same way out as you did in, there's definitely going to be a big bottleneck there as well.

There's so much easy free parking with a short 5-10 minute walk that I would rather do that than park close and deal with the hassle of trying to get in and out of the mess around Cintas

Here’s the link to the parking page. If I follow the instructions, I’m going up Ledgewood, turning left towards Cintas, turning right to go up the side of Cintas, and turning left to drive right in front of the main entrance to Cintas. Somehow, I doubt that’s the intent. I’m expecting a major clusterfuck to get to the correct lot.

And the scanners weren't working letting people into Cintas or to get people into Duffs. And Duffs had like 7 tables. I'm not a complainer, but X got an F today from an operational perspective.
At least we won.
Thankfully, they took all of the cones down and let people exit onto Montgomery Road. I wonder if it's because they got a bunch of complaints. When I pulled into the game, I asked them if all the cones would be there when we left, and they said yes, and there was only one exit. Thankfully that wasn't the case when the game was over.

Checked out the Duffs thing in the banquet room. Felt like a dining hall. Not sure what I expected, but the atmosphere was bad. Just a spot to grab some food I guess, but it was lame. No real complaints, just an observation. Guessing the main thing was to clear up concourse more. Parking crew was pretty rude but don’t care much about that.
The new bar on concourse near student section looked pretty cool. X has done some good things n that regard (finding locations to build out bars for).

I usually leave about 90 minutes early; glad I decided to leave 10 minutes earlier than that. They could really use someone directing traffic at the Montgomery/Cleneay intersection starting 2 hours prior to tipoff. Lots of people left the game early and it wasn't because Xavier was finally pulling away from the Tigers.

I honestly can't understand the change. How could anyone possibly think limiting numerous entry points wouldn't cause major issues? It's not like this was a major issue in the past that they needed to fix. Sounds like a "there's a new sheriff in town" thing that was completely unecessary.
Just open everything back up like it was last year, and problem solved in 10 seconds.
There was also no police presence after the game in the shopping mall. They did allow a right turn out of the mall, but luckily Montogomery wasn't that busy and people were just going whatever way they wanted, and I'm guessing it helped that alot of people left early.
There needs to be cops there after the game and they should allow both right and left turns out onto Montgomery (71S south is literally a quarter mile from that right turn out of the parking lot).

We left an hour and fifteen minutes early last night and made tip off well in advance. Problem is we live in Madeira. It took us ten minutes to get to Norwood and another half hour to get parked and into our seats. Friday is an early game. I can only imagine how effed up traffic is going to be at the intersection of Cleanay and Montgomery. Rush hour.
Let's put the same geniuses that came up with the new parking, to work on the Xavier budget deficit. Yeah, that will work well.

Tried calling the ticket office because that’s the only number I have to call. After 10 minutes of “all representatives are busy”, I gave up. They’re probably getting slammed and maybe have stopped answering the phone. I have no intention of being rude, raising my voice, etc. They have nothing to do with this, but I want to actually speak with a live person to let them know yesterday was a less than ideal experience and it needs to be addressed before Friday. With that game at 6:00 and rush hour traffic, I feel like I’ll need to leave my house in Liberty Township before 4:00 to have any hope of making the tip-off.

Went to the game with my Dad, coming from Anderson Twp. We take Kellogg to Columbia parkway to Taft (past JD Vance's house) to Woodburn, cross over Dana, to park in the handicap lots. The handicap lots haven't changed from last year, but they tell us we can't go that way with a handicap pass. They wanted us to turn around and come in via Montgomery Road.
I pulled out my parking pass for C3 and they waved us through.
We had a handicap pass, parking is in the front of C2 and/or in front of the arena.
It makes no earthly sense to route us back to Dana, to turn left on Montgomery, then left again onto Cleaney when we had a pass for a parking spot in front of the lot for the parking pass.
Quite the cluster. Forcing everyone to enter via Cleaney is a terrible plan. Did they plan this for security reasons? Lack of labor to man the other entrances?
drudy23
11-05-2024, 11:58 AM
There seemed to be plenty of people in yellow vests, so I don't think it was lack of labor.
They literally created a major problem for no apparent reason. If there is an apparent reason, they should be transparent about it. It has to change by Friday.
I don't mind getting to the game 45 min early, but no one wants to be there 90 mins early.

I mean you do get discounted beers if you are there that early.
Not parking related, but another example of lack of training yesterday, there was a security guard in front of Duffs not letting anyone in without a wrist band despite signs throughout Cintas saying Duffs was open to everyone (eventually this got fixed).

Yes! And add to that the scanners weren't working to look at tickets to get into Duffs, even though it didn't matter what type of ticket you had. As I said, alot of operational miscues on day 1, when you typically don't see many of them.
And if Duffs is open to everyone, why isn't it in the larger dining room? There were like 8 tables. We gave up and went to the concession stand.
Just ALOT of head scratching last night. Not like anything I've experienced at Cintas. Honestly felt like someone went out of their way to make things difficult in multiple areas.

My tickets wouldn't scan to get into the game. The old man scanning was sending people to the ticket office. I figured maybe it was his scanner bc others looked like they were getting in fine. I went over one door and that old man's scanner worked for one ticket but not the other 2 and he just said go ahead in.

No question. But “it’s not my area” is passing the buck. Rightfully so, and it’s way easier to respond when you have absolutely nothing to do with it. Just got an email about B/C4. They are opening up another entry on the other side of the lot, which I guess will help a bit, but still no access to the strip mall lot. The only rationale is that they've been told to not use the back half of the lot nearest to Montgomery Road. If that's the case and it's out of their hands, just say that, and people wouldn't complain as much.
More of a band-aid than a solution. But whatever, looks like I'll be getting to games 60-90 mins early this year. Still disappointing.

I just received an email saying they are changing entry for AA, C2, C2X, R3, and C3 to allow you to enter via Cleneay or by coming up the hill on the north side of Cintas from Ledgewood Drive. I still think they need to allow some access via Montgomery into B/C4 and E.

I also got that email which says you can use the hill entrance on the north side of Cintas if you have a "navy" reserved parking pass for those lots.
Problem is that my parking pass certainly looks "royal blue" compared to my tickets which are definitely "navy"!
I really can't believe that there are actually different color electronic parking passes. more likely that whoever wrote the email is likely colorblind.
Do others really have "navy" parking passes for those lots?

I also got that email which says you can use the hill entrance on the north side of Cintas if you have a "navy" reserved parking pass for those lots.
Problem is that my parking pass certainly looks "royal blue" compared to my tickets which are definitely "navy"!

I’m wondering the same thing. My parking pass for R3 is more royal blue and my tickets and more navy. Does that mean I still have to use Cleneay? Maybe passes for C2 and C2X are “navy”?

I always parked out on the corner of campus near the new health building. It’s always been $10. On the highway within 3-5 minutes of getting in the car. They moved it up to $15. Need to find some free locations.

The C2X pass is also Royal Blue compared to the navy tickets. I'd go by the lot's they mentioned as opposed to the color of the pass.

When I don't have a pass I always park off the side streets off Williams over by the strip mall and B lot. Depending on the time I get there sometimes park a little further but I always find something. Cut through the lots to get to Cintas, easy in and out.

Might give that a try. I’m still curious if anyone has a “navy” parking pass.

From the parking page on goxavier.com:
Lots AA, C-2, C-2X, C-3, R-3
Lots in the Cintas Center East Parking Area can be accessed by entering at Pacific Avenue from the south via Cleneay Avenue. Pacific Avenue is accessible via Cleneay from the south entering at Francis Xavier Way from Dana, or the east at on Cleneay Avenue from Montgomery Road.
In addition, vehicles parking in these lots can access from the north on Ledgewood Drive via Victory Parkway, and then proceed up the hill on the north side of Cintas Center.

I am just going to assume that the education system has once again failed society and they just don't know what "Navy" blue is! :(

I have parked in the lot off Woodburn for years. first $5, then $10, and now $15, My problem is the condition of the lot. It is crushed limestone with potholes which turns to slurry with rain or snow. When I take guests, I usually drive because the floormats and sometimes exterior need cleaning. I have contacted Xavier in the past with no avail. i have no issues with the price if the lot was in good condition. What condition is lot near the health building?

I read this thread with some amusement (because sadly I'm way down here, and the games are way up there).
But the capacity of Cintas hasn't grown.
So, unless there was some major change in the available parking lots around the arena (maybe there were), why did they need to change what was working out last year?

They rebid the parking contract and a different company came in with a lower bid.

Get what you pay for, apparently.

This company (BEST) is apparently in charge of parking and the ushers/ticket takers this year.

Parking was MUCH better for this game. No real delays going in the old way up the hill behind Cintas.

Couldn't go tonight but great to hear. They also completely fixed the issue with our new seats I posted in the reseating thread. Great job by the ticket office/X to address ticket holder concerns immediately.

You’re complaining about parking. Playa please…

It was just a completely unnecessary problem that was forced by a dumb decision and now has been easily corrected by reversing said situation.
It's all good...playa

Yes, I am glad too. That would have caused a horrendous experience game after game.
