Ta'Shia and Amber on the women's side.
On the Men's it has to be Tre and Tu. Miller has been talking about Sato a lot and all of his accomplishments, so including him would not surprise me either.

Sean has said he wanted to have more in the rafters. But even with the difficult standards set forth before that, Tre deserved it.

With the changing landscape of CBB, begs the questions, will we ever see a player at X worthy of a retired jersey again. Not that we wont have great players, more from the longevity standpoint.

Assuming that your base line for retiring a jersey is plays 4 years at X and graduates from here.
With how often players transfers will make that a lot more difficult. However, since they can now get paid, a 2nd round talent may choose to stay an additional year or two if they are getting a decent NIL payment.
I would lean towards yes. A freshman that plays significant minutes could see a team being built around him which would make him less likely to transfer, and so long as the money is decent, may stick with what he knows rather than trying to find a larger pay day.

Steve Thomas. 30 ppg at a time with no three point goals and no shot clock . An historic season.

For the women this would be my pick. Could be wrong but I believe she was the alltime leading scorer at XU after playing just 3 years.
Carol Madsen of Reading High School received the title of Ohio's Ms. Basketball in 1989 when she averaged 24.5 points per game and was Player of the Year in Division III. As a junior she averaged 22.8 points and made the All-Ohio second team.
She received many local and national honors. Parade Magazine listed her on its All-America second team.
Madsen started her college career at Purdue University but transferred to Xavier after one year and helped turn a mediocre Xavier program into a perennial power. She scored 1,702 points in three seasons.
In 1991-92, her first year at Xavier, she was Player of the Year in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference as XU made its first trip to the NCAA Tournament. As a senior she scored 46 points in a game against LaSalle and again was Player of the Year in the MCC.
Xavier, which averaged just 6.5 victories in the six seasons prior to her arrival, averaged 20 victories in her three seasons and made the NCAA tourney field all three years.

Jo Ann Osterkamp (1980-84) held the career scoring record until Tara Boothe (2022-06) broke it. Madson does still hold the records for career scoring average AND career assist average.

Is Thomas still alive?
Hope he gets his # retired by next season.

Unfortunately this can't happen under the current Xavier guidelines for jersey retirement. The team must have won 65 percent or more of its games during the players time at Xavier. From the 62-63 season (Thomas' first year) to the 65-66 season (which was cut short due to injury) the Musketeers were 51-54 overall with one winning and one .500 season. He doesn't meet this metric so unless than changes his number can't be retired.

Well that’s just stupid. He’s clearly one of the best players to ever put on a Xavier jersey.

For those who are curious these are the criteria for jersey retirement eligibility:
Eligibility
Must have degree from Xavier.
Must be a member of the Xavier Athletics HOF.
Individual honors and statistical milestones must be among the elite of his/her sport.
Team success at Xavier is a major factor, including championships and NCAA Tournament success.
Team winning percentage during career must be 65% or more.
Professional basketball success after Xavier may be considered.

Well deserved and the obvious next choice.
I think (outside of some old timers perhaps like Steve Thomas) the only others with a legit argument are Tu and Sato but neither is a lock like Tre was.

That's a little confusing, as the award is for the individual, not the team he happened to play on.

Supposedly it's a way of keeping from someone who was merely stat padding in the Hall of Fame, but it's been universally accepted that Steve Thomas had put up ridiculous numbers in a different era. Without him Xavier would have been abysmally bad at that time.

It's Xavier's rule so they can make an exception if they want. Perhaps they will at some point, but it may take the efforts of those who saw him play to get it done
