Why? What is your argument against them? All OOC losses were to A LOT of FF contenders. 13-6 in the ACC. Winning streak stands at 6. Only home loss was to Stanford by 1 which has to be considered their "worse" loss.

Pretty simple for me. Both teams have just 1 quad 1 win but dig deeper.

UNC has 1 win vs field (UCLA) and their 2nd best win is vs a team that won't be in the field SMU

Xavier has 3 wins vs field (at Marquette) and UCONN and Creighton.

Xavier best win beats UNC best win, 2nd best and 3rd best crush UNC's 2nd and 3rd best wins

Like most in the media he knows the teams he covers and that’s about it. I do think he actually understand the X’s and O’s better than most others, but he still doesn’t know the teams he doesn’t cover. There’s nothing unusual about that, but of course he’s going to say North Carolina is better. He probably hasn’t seen Xavier play but one or two games. If that. I hate Duke and always want them to lose but will have to root for them to day I don't want UNC in the field for obvious reasons.I think Duke will take care of business. They beat UNC at home by 17 in February and are 10.5 point favorites today.
Duke is on a Xavier type of roll, winning 5 of their last 6 games by at least 30 points. I wouldn't be surprised if they extended the streak because they are top 10 in both offense and defense.

The theory always was, and still is a Hail Mary.

It’s like all else being equal, maybe it comes down to the optics of conference standings. 2 other things come into play in this exact scenario. 1 is that Marquette had a far better noncon performance and overall a better season. The second is that we will play them in the BET. So if they beat us, it would certainly carry more weight than us taking 4th with the tiebreaker. And if we beat them, then we are in for sure and the theory never gets tested.

But whatever. I’m just kinda surprised we are where we are right now. Hopefully we’re 2 hours away from locking up a bid…..
