PROVIDENCE, R.I. --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the BIG EAST Conference, take on the Providence College Friars, 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the BIG EAST, on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Both teams are looking to bounce back from Wednesday losses. Xavier lost 80-75 to No. 4 UConn, while Providence lost 75-73 to St. John's.

Xavier won both meetings last season. Two of the last three meetings have gone to overtime, including a triple overtime marathon in 2022.

All around a damn good game. Green obviously. Swain sparked the run defensively in first half. Claude maybe had his best half in an X uniform. We were down 11 and won by 20. Great stuff. Providence isn’t the same team, but think they will find a way to stay a Q1 win. And 20 point win in the big East on the road is damn impressive regardless.

Absolutely! Impressive comeback from eleven down in first half. This team has capabilities. One hopes that the confidence continues to build. There was a lot to like in this game.

That's mainly why Djokovic never saw the floor after the first half. He was constantly getting beaten on defense when Providence would either hit a cutter or the extra pass to set up a 3. We saw today what will likely be the top 8 players going forward.

It was definitely great to see Green pick up the slack with Olivari getting slown down by Providence's defense today. Next two home games are very winnable, but you cannot sleep on Butler this year. They are good enough to sneak into the NCAA Tournament this year.

A great win and got the 1-1 on the week x needed. Go 2-0 next week and this team may be able to do something in February to get them in the conversation

Providence is about to go through a brutal stretch with 5 of their next 7 on the road. Xavier really helped themselves by cashing in on a road win here.

If they can beat both Butler/Georgetown at home and steal a game at either Creighton or UConn, then the calculus changes for the better.

Came thru! X can win at creighton in a couple of weeks. It’ll be tough but creighton isn’t as good as last year.

Over his last 11 games Trey is shooting 43% from 3 on 42 attempts. In Big East play he has made 46% on 26 attempts. He also is holding is own on defense as he fights hard. Need to play more and keep firing away. I am also fine with him playing along side Dayvion more as well. Teams are really taking Quincy away especially on the road so Green should be able to loosen some of that up moving forward.
