Las Vegas --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 2-1, take on the University of Washington Huskies, 2-1, on Friday in the Continental Tire Main Event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Xavier is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season, a setback at No. 2 Purdue on Monday.

The Musketeers will take on either San Diego State or St. Mary's on Sunday.

Too many X players losing the ball.
Still too many poor passes.
Still next to no team chemistry.
Still seeing mediocre outside shooting.
Even the easy shots near the basket look difficult.
The bigs are looking just ok.Too soft. I don’t ever see them being dominant this year.

While they may be much deeper, this X team may be the least athletic we’ve seen in years.

The fellas are getting to the line more–which is good–but they’re missing too many foul shots.

Green and Olivari didn’t looking sharp early again, but hoping they may have turned the corner.

Swain looking a bit more like a freshman today. Got blocked twice and missed an easy 10 footer.

Ousmane may foul out every game this year.

Good to see Lazar get some minutes. I can see glimpses of what could potentially be a very special player one day soon.

I know it is still early in the season and we have a deep bench, but we just don’t look all that good right now and it seems like it’s more than just one or two issues.

Is ANYONE on this team as good as ANY ONE of the starting 5 X had last season?
If they don’t get a lot better. X may very well be sitting at the bottom or near the bottom of the BE by the end of the season.

At least we have Sean at the helm. I hope he can find at least 5 players who play well together.

I have always been a little confused by the whole "extra pass" phenomenon.

It seems, if the balls goes in, that was the extra pass, and when it doesn't, they should have made an extra pass.

How do you know which one is the extra one? If they make 2 passes...they should have made 3, if they make 3, the 4th would have been the extra.

How do you know when the next pass would have been "the one"?

Frustrating loss. Out shot them from the floor; out shot them from the 3; out rebounded them by 10. Even with the turnovers, we would have come away with the W if we simply hit free throws! And the people missing the majority of their

I agree on ousmane. At least we have ciani. There is a bit of a drop off with him right now being that he is a freshman, but at least there is some depth.

When you get your shit blocked (and every lazy fan sitting on their couches thousands of miles away knew you were going to get your shit blocked), make another pass.

The 'extra pass' leads to a much higher percentage attempt than whatever they were trying to force. Just recall how the offense last year flowed.

And, yes, you need to go to a seminar. Not sure what topic. Maybe how to transform a basketball team through crystals and essential oils.

This isn't Miller's 1st year, 10th year, or 15th year.
This is Miller's 19th season as head coach. He knows freshmen and inexperienced players. He knows what works to get teams better.
I can't think of anything that Miller should not expect last night.

There are the issues with an inexperienced team with talent that doesn't know how to play well or persevere throughg pain.
First half X looked strong.

2nd half Washington dominated with arguably less talent.

Miller says it is toughness. I think part is toughness and part is not having a clue what each player's identity is.

Claude looks better.

The 3 CUSA transfers look lost, confused, and very unsure of them selves.
McKnight last year scored more than 20 points nine times. I geuss he knew what was expected of him and delivered.
Olivari last year scored 20 or more fifteen seperate times.

Was this past success soley based on weak opponents?
At least average 1/2 or 1/3 what you did in CUSA.
Maybe there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians...

Claude, Nemeiksa, and Lazar should lead X .
Claude: 14-17 points a game
McKnight should average 6-9 points a game.
Olivari should average at least 10-12 points a game.
Abou: 6 points and 6 rebounds would suffice.
Gytis :12 points 6-8 boards
Lazar : 13 points 4-5 boards
Green 7-8 points 3 assists
Swain :5-7 points 3 boards
Ciani: 4points 4 boards

All of that is well and good. But a lot of it is meaningless.
When you don't shoot 60% from the line (18-31), you lost it at the line.
Pure and simple. All you have to do is make your foul shots.
We had more field goals, more rebounds, more assists...and yes, more TO's.
But that didn't lose the game. 18 of 31 did.

I hope Miller with his 19 years of coaching has them all shooting foul shots in their sleep.

The second half was completely brutal. It was the ref show. It was like watching a bad pick-up game at times with all the turnovers, missed free throws and dropped passes. Let one slip away that we should have had.

It would be great if Trey Green progresses to the point of being able to take Olivari or McKnights starting spot.

Anyway, I had to leave at 6am to drive to Florida with the fam this morning. So I could not stay up for the game.

Just got done watching a recording though. The recording, for whatever reason, started after halftime though on my youtubeTV. Wish it was the other way around on which half got recorded.

Seems like a game we should have won. However, not shocked we lost. Just trying to keep faith in Miller molding this team as the season progresses and some of the freshman being able to steal more mins from the transfer seniors as the they progress.

Really need a W Sunday though.

There was a shitty football game that lasted far longer than planned. My DVR was set to record the game for 2 hours.

I missed the entire first half and the recording ended about 15 minutes into the second half.

Team clearly looks like a bunch of guys who have never played with each other. Not surprising. The dumb turn overs, poor FT shooting and careless fouls need to be cleaned up in a hurry.

Not a big fan of excuse makers blaming refs or time zone but based on Miller's quotes of a helpless feeling not being able to do or say anything to improve second half, maybe our east coast players' bodies could not believe it was still requiring energy at 1 am.
