I have not seen that called at all this year. Never did like the rule anyway. If it's not a foul, don't call a foul. If the dude wants to take himself out of the play by falling on the floor, that's on him. If you call a flop because it's not a foul, just don't call a foul. Play on. If you call a foul, that means you don't think it a flop. What am I missing?

Agreed but the Hoyas played an outstanding game at Cintas. Probably as complete a game anyone has played there. Hitting on all cylinders for an entire game, while rare, can make a mediocre team look very good.

Creighton is way overrated. Thought they’d win easily at home against butler but they are actually very similar to x in that they have three guys and not much else at all. they are also pretty thin and don’t look physically like a big East team. Losing kaluma and replacing him with miller was a huge downgrade. Think they are below x in conference standings by the end of the year, and a one and done in the tourney unless they get a pretty favorable matchup.

Actually, Marquette's finish is equally hard. They have to play UCONN twice, @Butler, @Creighton, @Xavier.
Sounds kind of insane, but second place is up for grabs and X could take it with a 12-8 record depending on tiebreakers and could get second outright with a 6-2 finish.

It'll be a lighter crowd tonight, but keep in mind St. John's would have arrived in Providence last night ahead of the storm. As long as both teams and 3 officials are in the building, they'll play in just about any type of weather.
Also keep in mind that the snow in Newark (for the X-Seton Hall game) ended about 1 PM this afternoon, so I'm guessing that Xavier should be okay flying out there this afternoon/evening.

Of the 8 remaining games these bubble teams play, 1 is head to head, 4 are against GT & DePaul, and 2 are against UConn & Creighton. Any loss to GT or DePaul is fatal, but also any win is worthless. I wouldn’t want my seasons to come down to needing to beat UConn or CU.
SHU vs Nova may just be an elimination game.
There are only 3 BE teams squarely in right now. Of the 4 remaining bubble teams, 2 are currently slated for Dayton and 2 are among the last 4 out.

They are so so good on offense it’s insane. If cal can get them to play a lick of defense in the tourney, they would win the whole thing unfortunately

Correct. I was at the UK/Arkansas 111-102 no defense game and if UK can figure out how to defend even half the time, they can outscore damn near everyone

Heard Seth Greenberg interviewed today. When asked about Cronin & UL, he said Cronin would jump at the chance and UCLA would help him leave. As I've said elsewhere Mick & UCLA are the oddest fit in cbb.

It was a very strange fit, but I think Cronin was UCLA's 10th or so pick from what I can remember. I tnink he'd be the same for UL. UL is making a run at Drew...not sure if they get him, but he's not making great money considering what he's done at Baylor and his buy-out is low.
If he turns it down, I'm hearing May, Schertz, Dixon, Musselman, Tang all before Mick.

He is hurt, but we don't see them until mid February and of course, he will be kicking ass again by then.
I just watched the entire game on replay. They in no way sucked tonight....even w/o Hopkins. Shooting #'s were not that great...and SJU bullied them overall, but the game was very BE intense and a killer ending.
The Johnnies are crazy good defensively and EXTREMELY PHYSICAL. As I suspected in a earlier thread....Pitino definitely has Richmond on a choker chain. In fact, they were caught on camera having it out.
TERRIBLE MATCHUP for X.

They may not have been bad tonight but even with Hopkins they aren’t great. Without him, they are .500 with losses to 3 a-10 teams and they barely squeaked by DePaul with him.
I have watched St. John’s a few times now and they are solid. Ejiofor is scary for x as well as pitinos

Went to Creighton v. St. John’s game yesterday. Both teams will be tough for Xavier. Observations: Xavier needs a point guard leader and pure shooter on the court like Creighton’s Steven Ashworth, and more solid big men to compete in the Big East. Not a new development, but needs to continue to be a focus for the coaching staff moving forward or Xavier will continue to be a middle of the pack Big East team for the foreseeable future.

I'd like to think that X is better than both of them, but winning against them on the road will be tough. That is especially true for Butler who acts like that game is their super bowl every year.
The Big East doesn't seem to be very good this year...there is UCONN, Marquette and St. John's and that's about it. IMO, X and Creighton is in that 4-5 area and the rest of the teams are pretty mediocre to flat out bad. I may change my tune about Gtown after tomorrow, but i can't be convinced they are actually good yet.

Dixon might be the best player in the country. Shooting 50% from 3 is ridiculous for a guy who's 6'9 and can also score in the post. He has to be a first round pick next year.

There are definitely 3 distinct tiers developing in the Big East right now:
Tier 1 - Marquette, UConn, St. John's
All 3 are going to be going to the NCAA Tournament barring an unforeseen collapse this year. Xavier was very competitive in 2 of those 3 contests. After the Nova game, Xavier will play the above 3 teams to finish the first half of conference play. Definitely a front-loaded schedule this year.
Tier 2 - Creighton, Villanova, Georgetown, Xavier
Enough talent in place for a postseason bid, but a lot of work to do if they want to get an NCAA bid. Creighton is the closest to potentially cracking the top tier.
Tier 3 - Providence, Seton Hall, DePaul, Butler
Any losses against these four teams are killers this year.

Providence at Nova was a rock fight. Friars kept launching 3 balls (34!). They were cold starting 0-9, but eventually made 14 for 39%.
In the final seconds, Dixon missed a pair of FTs , and both teams turned over the ball, with Providence missing the last shot. Nova wins 75-73.
