How proud are we of this team? Coach Miller and our X-men were simply brilliant last night!
We witnessed pretty much perfection. X looked like a national championship caliber team. Coach Miller had a hell of a game plan to keep Kolkbrenner from causing havoc in the paint on defense and to make sure there were no easy 3s on offense for them from the start… and his team executed it perfectly.
We saw an X team that found their rhythm early and they stayed in sync. They played loose and with more confidence, grit and tenacity than we’ve seen all season - and for an entire game. Our players out-hustled their opponent. They showed great anticipation. They passed and moved beautifully on offense. Even Claude’s confidence was through the roof. Our fellas took everything Creighton tried to throw at them. Heck, Zack literally got punched in the mouth (technically elbowed) and it didn’t slow him down one bit.
I can just imagine Miller’s halftime speech. “I’ve been talking to you all season about finding a way to put together two good halves. I’ve been talking to you about finding a way not to let up when you come out in the the second half. Fellas, if you ever were going to decided to make those things happen, it’s right here-right now- becasue if you don’t - we’re going home. So reach down deep inside and play the rest of this game like your life depends upon it, because it does. You either win and advance or you are done. This is where we see what you are made of. Let’s show them how damn good you really can be. Let’s stay smart but also relentless. Keep that foot on the pedal and put this game away so we can come advance and come back tomorrow.”
The sky’s is truly the limit, if they can play that same way tonight and each game during the NCAA Tournament.
Gotta love this team. 40 more minutes of X-CELLENCE!
