I saw somewhere someone mentioned winning the BET is a much bigger deal than a Sweet 16. I find that to be ludicrous. I'll take the Sweet 16 all day every day. Is the BET nice yeah, for 24 hours, then it's on to the Dance. Where legends are made.

Sweet 16 for sure. Of course, I want both, but that's not the question!

Winning the BE is one of the goals, but the ultimate goal is to win a championship.

If you are in the sweet 16, you are one weekend closer to playing for a NC.

Therefore, I would consider the sweet 16 to be a bigger deal in the grand scheme of things.

Sweet 16. Easy. Now if it’s just win one game in March or BET, I’ll take BET

There is a very good chance X can win the BET. Accomplishing that feet would be a huge for the school and the basketball program.

That said, winning at least two games in the NCAA Tournament and getting to the next weekend still feels like the bigger success for the season. I think it’s because the NCAA Tournament includes “all the best” teams in the Nation and the longer your team is able to play during the season the more it feels your team is deserving of being called successful. The NCAA Tournament games are the final games to be played for the season and to be one of those final 16 teams (or 8 or 4 or 2 or 1) that advances is quite special. It’s a National badge of honor that is talked about for life.

I will add that there’s no reason X can’t tear through both tournaments like Nova used to do. I vote we just go this route and drop the talk of limiting our expectations.

S16. More eyeballs and national exposure. Sure, the BE tournament is electric, but if I had to pick one place to win it would be the NCAAT no question. I'm pretty sure I've read that Xavier (as well as any other school reaching the S16+) have a noticeable bump in applications after reaching the S16+.

Sweet 16 by a wide margin for me.

Easily, Sweet 16. Doesn't mean I don't want to win the BE tournament though. That is a prestigious tourney to win and the last big item to check off Xavier's bucket list since joining the BE.

I have been seeing a lot of "should Xavier rest and save up for the NCAA tourney and bow out of BE" talk, which to me is almost as ridiculous as thinking winning the BET is a bigger deal than going to the Sweet 16.

That’s the right answer, except you can’t win the BET and go to the Sweet 16 at the same time!

I will add to the, so far, unanimous preference. I'm not sure to whom you are referring, preferring the BET.

I would rather win the BE regular season than the BE Tourney. Sweet 16 would be a little better. It does look cool to see NYC fill up MSG and have crazy fans yell and scream with North East folks.

Sweet 16, no question.

If the Xavier squad that put a stranglehold on Creighton keeps showing up, we are looking at a both Ginger and Maryann scenario.
