Regarding the game I think UConn is ripe for the picking. I would favor X to come out in the first half strong and just have to hold on, take the punches and finish. On paper it’s a tough matchup, but I think this is a bigger game for X and that may make a difference. Wish I could be there…

Kudos to Boum for playing through the funk and incredible pressure(Hurley also said he could not go 40), Kudos to Kyky for 3 min of great play. Kudos to Nunge for a great effort and results. Kudos to Claude for a few good minutes. Kudos to Kunk as he (until end) did a good job on Hawkins and i wish he would get a call on his drives. I could not be happier. Once Hurley got the tech he lost his team and could not even speak forcefully the last minute or so. And kudos to Hunter for sticking with Xavier after a little too much criticism last year. He has shown why he was highly recruited

Watched the game in a crowd of people not very familiar with Xavier basketball - stupid southerners...They were very impressed with X and especially with the crowd and Cintas atmosphere. That place looked very hyped and when the T was called you could feel the energy through the TV. Well done X nation!

Reid Ducharme was in the house and got a standing O from the crowd during a 1st half timeout; he'll be part of Miller's first pure signing class next year.

I think that was also the first time Xavier has beaten a #2 ranked team; we know they have 4 wins against a #1 ranked team (Cincy 2x, St. Joe's and Nove).

Jerome Hunter's 9-for-9 performance from the FT line was even bigger with a) Jack Nunge suffering from food poisoning throughout the game and b) Souley Boum looking more human from the 3-point line and FT line today.

It absolutely changed the complexion of the game - it was one possession at the time of the initial foul and a 2-point lead quickly ballooned to 6.

with 3 pointers hawkins shot 3-9 and kunkel 2-7 so kunk did his defensive job and had 2 great assists and drew 2 offensive fouls. A future coach and his heart is huge.

Listening to Sean’s interview with Joe and BLark about Hunter. Sean said he brings it everyday in practice but just needed more confidence and defined role. Did notice lack of confidence last year. How many layups did he miss last year? Guess this is what happens when you shoot 20 something from 3 and the coaching thing.

The UConn big 7'2 265lb freshman, Clingan is going to be a beast down the road.

No doubt about it. I heard on a podcast- while somewhat skewed because he only plays 15 min a game- Uconn statistically is better with him on the court than Sanogo. They also have a freshman shooter that’s dang good. I love Hurley at UConn. They will be great for the conference….and I love to hate Hurley.

Kunkel has been off a bit…but he has a threat to drive the ball and that’s what helps make the offense so strong- boum/Colby/Kunkel always moving and all threats to drive. I wish KyKy had that in him because I think he’s showing good stuff when he’s played. Great feed to hunter then obviously draining the 3. Thought he could’ve seen more minutes especially with Kunkel in a funk but the offense just flows better with three curling/attacking guards. Constant pressure on D.

Freemantle. At some point earlier this year I remember thinking and saying we are just better with him on the bench….man has he really turned it around. He’s been fantastic and often overlooked in what he provides.

I forget the name of the basketball podcast Miller was on last year but the current hosts repeatedly said Dan Harley’s act with officials doesn’t work. Many people need to have a heart to hear convo and persuade Hurley to stop the whining act.

I TOTALLY forgot that last year when we played UConn at home we were RANKED 25, that was on February 11. then WON. (Then lost Six out of Seven).

In regards to Hurley, I think the guy is one hell of a coach, he’s won everywhere he has been. However, he does come across as a whiny little b. Anyways, I was in section 200 and at the end of the game when Hurley and his assistants were walking back into the tunnel, he was hanging a “conversation” with an x fan. It looked like a latent scolding a child… I’m gonna go ahead and believe the x fan probably wasn’t innocent, but coaches with some emotional intelligence would just keep walking
