Free off the bench is 3-3 with 7 boards and some assists...and some TO's.
Curiously, our entire team has NO offensive rebounds. That's hard to do. At least one should come bouncing your way.

I'm glad he got some time and seemed to play well.
Haven't given up that he might help give Nunge and Free some breathers.
If he doesn't get much time this year, I would think he'd transfer.

Thought Edwards looked pretty impressive in his limited minutes. Hustled and made some nice buckets. Might be partly that he played against some of their backups. Still, he looked like he might have at least given Sean a little bit more to think about.

With Free and Jack most likely gone, if he can commit to working hard, he will have an opportunity at Xavier next year. Needs to get bigger and stronger and be an enforcer on defense and he will Play.

agree. He shoved a couple players out of the way all for a rebound.

Edwards looks much more coordinated than Miles. Miles always looks off balance and seems to get pushed around pretty easily. Edwards has more upside from what I saw last night and have seen in the past.
But…no sense in getting to excited. There are some HS/Prep teams that could probably beat SELA.

Miles looked much better last night offensively but the difference is on the defensive end. That is the reason Edwards’s does not play and Miles does. Offensive is not an issue with this team. Miles did well defensively against Duke and Gonzaga bigs. If Edwards could play defense, he would play.

it is hard to believe that SELA beat Wyoming (a 500 team in Mountain West) and lost by 10 to colorado state. I liked the look of Kraft's stroke last night, Edwards and Miles look ready to help out, Claude improving etc. Nice to have a blowout to give them minutes. A sneaky problem we had the past few years is that we did not blow out anyone so the young players never had a proving ground. We were playing starters 35 min against Eastern Kentucky , etc

Nothing really to take from the game. My favorite part may have been the live look in up 30 and Sean talking to his team. You can just tell the coaching still going on, the leadership and changing culture. What he said was so simple yet so important in changing the culture. And then Sean getting a T up 30.
As for edwards, I always feel he can provide a little. But if he hasn’t seen the floor until last night then he won’t really see it and it’s more important for the team to get Miles time. What he can (potentially) bring to the team helps out more than what Edwards can bring.

Yeah and i can't see what our starting 5 is next year with him gone. The backcourt can't be Miles, edwards and the incoming Frosh. We need a transfer and possibly a Euro big.

I don't think he is a lock either, but he may just be done with college ball and want to go make some money. If he continues shooting like he has, there is very little reason to come back to college. He'd be a complete college product at that point.

Have to lock up some NIL deals - in all seriousness, that's what's going to keep these second tier guys around for 3-4 years.

True, but the same could be said of Tre who came back and Scruggs and other players who did come back.
We just never really know what these guys are thinking. Either way, given the landscape of college basketball these days, I anticipate/expect Miller will put a competitive team on the court next year. I say that understanding also that Miller needs a couple years to really make this program his again.

Yeah that’s an interesting twist in some of these decisions. Colby just saw Scruggs injury that could leave a lasting impact on his choice. I agree with Xville, I don’t see him staying. Doesn’t mean NBA but if he keeps this up he won’t have all the much more to prove anyways. I’m not worried about next year with the transfer pool.

Tre came back because he didn't have the quickness or skills to defend in the NBA as a junior.
He didn't have those skills as a senior either, as it turns out, but he was definitely trying to play his way into the league v. going to Europe and giving up on the dream.

so that I understand NIL, couldn't North Carolina come calling for Colby the transfer next year and some private donor fund NIL money specifically to Colby? An example would be to use Colby's NIL for a large car dealership sponsorship of some type.

I saw a much more intense team, including Free, and I think it noteworthy. Still, agree that we need to see that level of fire against better talent and an equally intense opponent. In that regard, Saturday may represent a turning point in this season. We shall see..........

That makes no sense, but ok. Tre's biggest barrier to the NBA is and always has been his lack of athleticism. Nothing about another year of college basketball was going to change that.
While it was a very overmatched team X played (their one big reminded me a little of Stainbrook -except that Matt was good at defending, rebounding and scoring), I think it was just the kind of game X needed at this point in the season. SE Louisiana was the perfect, less competitive team to basically scrimmage against and work on fixing some of the things that have been killing them in games (e.g. playing poor defense, not getting defensive rebounds). It also allowed some of the non-starters to get in rhythm and gain more confidence.
I think Craft may have gained the most confidence last night. He looked the most comfortable he’s looked all season. Not only was he hitting from 3, he looked really good in transition, scoring on a fast break.
The games from here on are certainly going to be much tougher than this one, but I do think Kam and some others like Free, Nunge, Hunter, Miles, and Edwards are in a better place because they got a chance to work on fundamentals, gain more chemistry and find a comfortable team rhythm during an easy scrimmage/game.

The latest mock draft I saw had him as #37, so he is pretty solidly in the mix, if he continues his play he could get into the first round....

ESPN's newest has him #36 and has this to say:
"Xavier's Colby Jones had a breakout performance at the PK85 tournament, averaging 18 points, six rebounds and five assists while shooting 9-for-10 from beyond the arc in three games. Entering the season a career 30% 3-point shooter, Jones had some questions to answer in that department, especially since he doesn't pop from a physical standpoint with his average size, length, frame and explosiveness.
Jones started off the season cold, not making a single 3-pointer in his first three games, but was scorching in Portland, which is a significant development considering how many NBA decision-makers were in attendance. Jones' passing ability and all-around feel for the game are what really make him interesting as a prospect, as well as the toughness he displays defensively. If he can continue to show that his outside shooting is real, he'll have a chance to enter the conversation as a first-round prospect with the other intangibles he brings to the table."
