When I was young, I used to love Midnight Madness.
This, not so much.

I've had fun the years I've attended. It would be more satisfying if the scrimmage was longer, but I'll take what I can to whet the appetite.
I guess bets are open on who is going to look awesome at this event, only to rarely leave the bench during the regular season. There's always one!

Yeah, it sounds like fun, especially if you have kids to take. I’ve never been, but I’d be looking for more scrimmage and less hoopla. That may just be me, but I’d like a little more meat on my sandwich.

I sure hope they keep these two contests as part of MM. They are two of the most exciting parts of it.

I don't know. Haven't been in a while. Might actually go this year because....new regime...new era...new start.
I get not wanting the team to do too much this early. They have to supplement with all the hoopla (interesting expression for basketball themed stuff) to make it an event.

I was going to go until I saw the dance team was on the schedule! *Insert sarcasm font*

I went last year. I enjoyed myself. Cintas Center is really entertaining and there is a ton of stuff to grab your attention and make you happy.
The scrimmages are not usually good but we cheer on our Muskies!

Looking forward to being there. There was also a Fan Fest before the TBT tournament. It will be nice to just be inside Cintas. Go X!

I pretty much just want to see the new guys and redshirts like Tucker to see what kind of game they have.
I might sneak in a beer or two
Just good to be back in the Tas and watching BBALL

moved to kenwood and sub teach at some fantastic high schools..it has been a blast wear my Xavier fleeces and boys and teachers seem iiinterested. Funny a big article on bankrate.com said Ohiio is 4th best state to retire(Fla, SC, Mich, Ohio and Conn 5th worst). Also Cinci 3rd best retirement city(Charleston SC, ? , Cinci). So far so good

I can think of 100 cities I would rather retire in than Cincy....
I'm sure cost of living was a big factor and I get that
Out of the cold of Jan and Feb for me when I retire.

you would be surprised...nerdwallet just had Cinci as 3rd best retirement city and bankrate had ohio as 4th best state. Florida may have lost some luster due to Hurricane Ian. I have been very pleased so far..

I hope you get your wishes in time. Personally, two months away from the cold is not sufficient for me. We have highs in the 50’s coming next week, with 30’s over night. I’m already dreading it. I’d be happy with 6 months and a day in FL to avoid state taxes, and spend the summers somewhere cool.
I must say, I’m impressed with the Cincinnati ranking. I’m also curious what it’s based upon. I can think of a LOT of great locations. I’m trying to figure out the best possible retirement scenario. The wife has a few years left before retirement. I know we will have some kind of residence wherever our son winds up with his family. That part will be decided for me. Family first.

There's where YOU want to be....and then there's where the FAMILY is, and they often aren't the same place. Just keep in mind that when you're retired you generally have more time to travel to the places YOU want to be.
I thought for sure that I was going to end up retired somewhere in the mid-south. Low cost of living, generally good weather year-round, no state income tax in some of the states, beautiful scenery and a laid-back pace of life. Even went so far as to buy a small house south of Nashville that we planned to use for a vacation place for a few years until my wife could retire and we would move there full-time. But then my kid in NKY started having kids, and my other kid (an air force vet) left the force and moved back with his family to NKY. We sold the house down south and bought a newer home in NKY so that we could be close to the kids and grandkids. But we still travel down south pretty often, in fact I'm sitting in a rental just north Ashville as I write this. We generally go for long weekends 4-5 times a year. I'm happy living in Cincinnati area because I'm close to family. I'd be miserable if I moved south and never saw them.

Back when it was Midnight Madness, it used to be a great event. It definitely lost some luster during the 4 years with Travis Steele as HC.

Per Adam Baum;
White wins it 50-46. Souley Boum's my MVP. Jack Nunge a close second.
Desmond Claude and Kam Craft both showed some things tonight.
Souley Boum: 6-7 from the field (4-4 from 3), drew 5 fouls and finished with a game-high 16 points and three steals.
BOUM!!

Souley— I suspect he will become a fan favorite fast. Hard not to root for this kid – and his mom.

it looked to me like players were playing for playing time..a real game. Even the walk-ons were effective. Very enjoyable and nice to see the players take the floor.

Let’s hope this is a precursor! We don’t have to rely on one. Granted this is a, well we know, but nice to see all contribute.
Gotta say it Boom! Might actually get that shirt!
SUPER BOWL!!!
Oh, wait…..
Glad to hear Souley is as good (if not better) than advertised. Sounds like he might end up being one of the most underrated transfers. More importantly, he could be the next Malcolm Bernard - helping to lift up and even carry his new team to a Sweet 16 victory or even a elite 8.

… or a F4.

Or maybe Souley played really well because we stink at defense? (I wasn't there. I'm just trying to temper my own expectations.)

Heck, why not win the whole damn thing.
Last season NIT Champs.
This season NCAA Tournament Champs!
Has it ever been done before?
A ton would have to go right, but these guys have already proven they can turn it on and deliver a long streak of wins in a tournament. Now with a top tier coach at the helm, why the hell not?!!

There was definitely some of that. The defense on the wing was still really slow to react to picking up a drive. If Boum is really that quick to other teams as well, then we're in for a treat.
