Word on Victory Parkway is that we are expected to get a commitment from Trey Green. Green is a 5’10 point guard and is ranked 98th nationally.

If you go to Rivals, he’s grown an inch and put on 15 LBS!

I trust Sean and this staff to sign and develop some quality players. Hope for good news!

Xavier: “I love Sean Miller. He is a great coach who is known for how he plays his point guards. He loves to play fast. I love the relationship we have built.”

With his commitment arriving at the end of the week, Green says he will base his decision on a trio of factors.

“The relationships, atmosphere, and coaching staff,” Green said on what he will base his decision off of. “Honestly those are the three things that will be the reason for my decision.”

Announcing Saturday. 247 crystal ball is 100% X.

Researched some highlights and the dude can flat out shoot! What makes him unique he seems to be a passing PG first. Did I mention he can really shoot! It has been a while since we had a point that is lights out. And can really shoot from the outside. Sorry forgot to mention that.

If we get him, he certainly will come in polished! Apparently he was turning heads as a freshman. This article is from nearly 2 years ago.

Final game highlights from Peach Jam where Green was MVP.

Game was a lot more competitive than the tip-off.

Xavier also had 24 Kayden Fish on a visit last week. Plays on same team as Green. Think he had 13 and 7 in that game. Also they have a really good shot at #5 on the team in white, the lefty Deshawn Harris-Smith.

Trey Green would be a great pick up.

Then Sean needs to reel in another athletic big.

I was thinking there were a few players in that game that looked to have some good moves in the highlights, and perhaps more importantly a good physique that could be developed for the college game. #5 was one who caught my attention.

I don't know if it's the competition in these clips or what, but Green doesn't seem like a guy with a height disadvantage. He seems like he has the skills to create space for himself. (Although I noticed on at least one play shown he totally lacked defense on stoping a ball handler who was a bit bigger than him. Just one play, but it stood out to me. )

Does anyone here know off the top of their head some past X frosh that came directly from prep school or a competitive AAU program?
I know D West went to Hargrave, Craft went to Skills factory, but I don't remember a lot of others.

Off top of my head, Scruggs and Nanji. Also think Ty Jones as well.

Sounds like Green is taking the lead as head recruiter:

Green's the first commitment for Xavier in 2023 and now that his decision's out of the way, he's focusing on getting more players to join him at Xavier.

"I've been trying to reach out to a couple guys, especially ones that are heavily considering Xavier," said Green. "Recently, DaShawn Harris-Smith dropped his top five (schools) and I've been talking to him. Real cool guy. He's a dog. I love him. I played against him in the Peach Jam championship.

"Kayden Fish, my big that was with me at Mokan. He does whatever it takes to win also and he's a Peach Jam champion. There's some guys I'm definitely talking to get them on board."

Little known fact…UC was Green’s dream school and number 1 choice. But they spurned him in pursuit of Isiah Collier. Green chose Xavier to spite his true love UC. Read the UC boards..I am not making this shit up.

I can forgive his initial failure in judgment if he uses it as inspiration to be great……and stick it to them! He’s OUR guy!

There was no initial failure in judgment…they are psychos. Now that they are going to the Big 12, they think everyone wants to go to Clifton. It’s hilarious…and pitiful.

If they don’t beat X in their shit hole of a renovated dump next year…they will melt down. And I don’t see that happening.

Have any of you been to renovated…I dont even know what it’s called at this point…those mouth breathers think it’s way better than Cintas. What a joke. I try not to be biased…but that place doesn’t even come close to the Cintas experience.

Nothing to prescribe for delusional disorder, just have to let them be crazies. Hilarious though, honestly kind of what I expect from anybody that roams around Clifton.

Great post, Nigel.

It had been and still may be 5th/3rd Arena, but, now that you mentioned it, I honestly can't say if they renamed it or not. While I don't doubt that UC is improving its position in all this with its move to the Big12 - pretty low bar, coming from the AAC - they don't appear to have fully digested the fact that they won't be a P5 team, because there will no longer be 5 power conferences. When the B1G and SEC finish this next round of digestion, they'll both be at 16 a piece and generating about $90 million or more per school per year. We all know the other three conferences will not and cannot come close to those two lottery tickets. Hell, the ACC is holding its members "GOR Captive" right now.

Big12 media payouts are expected to collapse to about $20 million per school when UT and OU exit the conference. That isn't a "collapse" for UC, coming from a truly terrible AAC ESPN+ deal, but it is very problematic for schools like Baylor and TCU, which are smaller, private and lacking the ability to gen up student fees like their larger state school brethren to backfill their funding needs. Importantly, even though UC will experience a funding bump from the move, it is a given that it's funding requirements will also increase to keep pace in the "larger" conference setting. Either way, UC improves its status, while falling further behind, and while most likely being locked out from any opportunity to make it into one of the two dominant conferences. BTW, it's not clear at this point if or by how much adding Arizona, etc. to the next iteration of the Big12 could bump up the coming payout figure or not.

UC announced a $100 million athletic funding initiative over there as part of their transition towards the Big12. That will be interesting to watch. I would think there already is a certain amount of fatigue from the funding round required for Nippert Stadium's renovation and the basketball arena's first renovation, etc.

And, whatever the place is called, it certainly isn't nicer than the Cintas Center, even with its pending underwhelming $6 million improvement coming up. I wonder how many of them still believe UC should not be playing Xavier in basketball anymore. They're my favorites.
