Thanks for sharing my fellow Musketeer also living in NJ.
It should be exciting to this group playing together under Sean’s new leadership. Gotta feel confident that Jones and Nunge are going to help lead this team to new heights. I am expecting Miller will be helping Kunkel be a little more disciplined with his shot selection. Really looking forward to seeing what the four new guys (Boum, Craft, Claude and Tucker) can bring to help compliment what we already have. Kyky is another player who I am excited to see healthy and getting some action. Could he get some time at the 1?
Wondering if Miller can even help mold Miles, Hunter and Edwards all into more of a threat on the court. Finally, I am going to make a bold prediction that Zach’s defense improves dramatically under Miller this coming season and that we will see him have many more games like the handful of good games he had towards the end of of the season. I’ve gotta think he realizes he delivered only a fraction of his potential last season and is going to play with much more focus and tenacity.

My prediction is that Zach will be riding the pine a lot more when he doesn't play defense the way he should. He will not be given a pass like in the past.

the league is a monster as usual. A 5 point win will be huge. So many transfers coming in and hard to tell. Will not be a given but it never is. We will complete and every game will be it's own story. So much more interesting than the pros. The Big East is enough for me to follow these days and i think Miller will make a difference in our mental toughness. Like a tough boss at work you really dont want to screw up and get called out and i did not feel that occurred as much the past few years.

A "sense of battle tested grit", if it exists with this team, would be a definite change for the better. If you look at the players we lost (Scruggs + Johnson) the returning players and the bench support, on paper we should be much improved. But, as per above comment, the B.E. is again a "monster" and many other teams should be improved as well. I'm in the IM4X camp. Not only am I excited to see the new guys, but we really need them to contribute. Hunter has to improve. Edwards has to be better. Can KyKy get his old confidence back? What about Miles and Tucker? Are we going to see them start to fufill their potential?
Under Steele, we all saw how a team can under-perform. I'm ready, along with everyone else on this board, to see how a team can over-perform. Wish the season could start tomorrow.

I like the idea of maybe seeing a new version of KyKy. I dont ever envision him becoming a lock down perimeter defender, and maybe we should just accept that. Hopefully, Miller finds a way to give him 5 minutes each half and just lets him fire away and not have to worry about getting yanked. Could be a situation where we increase the tempo and go small when he is on the floor. Give the opponent something they have to gameplan specifically for.

X again struggled from 3 last season. Kunkel launches way to many 3's and wasn't reliable for any consistency.
Why would X go from bad shooting to average or good shooting? Craft can't do it all. I hope it improves from poor to average.
If 32% last year turns into 35% this year. I will be pleassed.

With an ACTUAL OFFENSE that MAKES SENSE and PUTS PLAYERS in MOTION this seems very doable.

Steele's offense was simple, easy to defend, and never changed. Scheme alone will improve our shooting percentages.

I'm not really understanding why you responded to my comment about KyKy with this.
But, with that in mind, I can see ways in which out 3Pt shooting will improve.
-First, Scruggs, Free and Hunter took 213 3 attempts and hit 57 of them which equates to 26.7%. These 3 took 28% of the attempts. Scruggs is gone and I expect Free and Hunter to both be on a short leash when it comes to putting up 3's. just NOT TAKING 3 point shots can improve our %.
- I expect Jones to improve upon his 29%, but not take a considerably higher amount of shots.
- I think Kunkle is a better shooter than he showed last year. He was the ONLY shot creator we had and the guy that sometimes had to just launch at the end of a possession. I think with more creators on the floor, Kunkle can be more of a catch and shoot guy and hit in the high 30's%. His off the dribble 3's should still be in the mid 30's%. I just think he'll have a better mix of shot type.
- Boum, hopefully, can replace Nate's 37.5%
-I think KyKy will get many more attempts and will shoot above the team average. If he doesnt get much PT, it may mean Craft is better and that could be a good thing for us.

The above argument is reasonable. I too expect improvement. I believe it will come from more discipline around who shoots the three-ball along with better ball movement creating more open looks. Miller essentially laid that out in his radio show last month. Steele's offense essentially passed the ball around the perimeter or used a very basic weave and generally the resulting shot was not an unhurried wide-open look. I wouldn't be shocked if we take materially fewer shots behind the arc. But, in the end, I expect to see marked improvement in the results.

I quoted your post just as a point of reference. I didn't disagree with your Tandy analysis. I agree with your posts 95% of the time.

I heard on a sports radio show this morning a discussion about DeAndre Ayton of PHX. They talked about how in college Az ran NBA sets to get their 3 pt shooters open, specifically Ayton. I think our 3 pt %, just like our Defense, and our FT % will all improve because of Miller. He's not God with a whistle, but he's a helluva better coach than Miami's coach.

Doesn't every d1 head coach believe their offense isn't too difficult?
I mean no coach wants their team to struggle offensively.

Steele seemed to be ok with missing ALOT of shots.

Lunardi has 7 BE teams in:
3 Creighton
4 Nova
7 UConn
8 Xavier
11 St. John's
11 Seton Hall
11 Providence
I'd take it.
