Syracuse? They will be in the 'tas on July 18th for the first game. Win and play again the 20th.

What a great night!

My takeaways:

1. UC still can't win in the 'tas! LMAO.

2. How awesome to see all these guys back at Cintas playing. Especially the duo of Tre and JP. Freaking awesome.

3. BJ now has 2 iconic shots in Xavier history. The Do it BJ, do it game in 2008 NCAA tourney against WVU and the 2022 TBT game! How awesome was that??

4. The Zip Em Up players were so awesome with the fans. JP and Tre must have signed 100 things and taken 200 pictures. BJ led the team back over to celebrate with the fans. Got my Tre runningman signed which was awesome.

5. I sat courtside and am not sure I can ever go back. I am ruined now lol.

I would just like to point out that watching it on television really makes me proud to be a Xavier alumnus. The Cintas Center has really come into its own.

They put on a show and it was glorious.

They say time heals wounds - after the press conference debacle after a certain game I never thought I’d hear that phrase being used so openly and officially - Zip Em Up

I kept waiting for the announcer to get into the moment and call “for Xavier!” Leave it to the fans in the last moments to have “Let’s Go X” ringing through the hall. Im sure the producers loved that.

Even the TBT Twitter acknowledged how fan friendly the team was after the game - Xavier - were something special.

There was no energy during the SucKS game except that one buzzer beater (which was impressive) and a stray energetic fan here and there - the mid fans were more engaged during saturdays scrimmage game. Then our game started and that’s the Cintas crowd we know and love. BJs shot nearly brought down the house.

When we make it though this week we go to The Dump, nothing good can come of that.

Yeah Semaj is so under-ranked by most Xavier fans bc of his shorter tenure and the lack of post season success in his time here. No tourney at all his freshman year and first four loss his second year.

He stays 4 years and he is a top 2 or 3 scorer all time in X history. He averaged 17 ppg on 48% shooting from the field as a sophomore in the Big East.

Tre was never quick or explosive enough to ever have a real shot at the NBA. JP just wasn't skilled enough. It shouldn't have been surprising that neither made it, they weren't good enough. And I love them both.

Tre is also about 25 lbs out of playing shape, so it wasn't surprising he struggled a little.

It is amazing that JP actually got any mins ever in an NBA game. Testament to getting the most out of his ability.

Again, just an awesome time watching these guys at Cintas again. I was a little surprised that the attendance wasnt a little better, but the crowd that was there was awesome. I guess it was a little pricey ticket wise too and summer months with people out of town.

Perimeter defense was lacking but I would venture to guess its lacking for a lot of the teams.

I'm not really sure how all the teams are formed, I'm supposing it varies, but, theoretically, these other teams can go out and get a big that is available easier than a team that is restricted (almost exclusively) to one program.

I think that could be possible that limiting your reach could be a disadvantage, but at the same time I think it is an advantage to have guys who know what its like to play together too. And they have a coach who coached some of them and in their system which I think makes it easier to actually run plays which they did a lot of. A lot of the teams don't have anyone who really had been a college coach, let alone for the same program of all the players.

They also did try and get Daum who seemed like he was coming then changed his mind. So I don't think they are opposed to looking outside the program. Definitely need a big for next year. Farr, Reynolds, Tyrique would be great. If you can't get them look to other players from outside the program.

BJ retired after this last season after 14 years. He is now a Graduate Assistant on Sean Miller’s staff and going to X Grad School
