Just called to make reservation. There is no more availability. They will put you on a wait list. Bummed, but good to see Sean is getting a good reception.

Never been there but if they have no room, maybe 30 fans want to show up in Mariemount.

Do you think this place has only 7 tables?

Listened to Miller on 700WLW.
It was agood show. He likes frontcourt 4 (Miles, Nunge, Freemantke, Edwards)
He really praised Craft as a silent assassin scorer. Deadly from 3 and he loves the game, a natural player who enjoys getting better and playing pick up games.
He loves Boum as he shoots a ton of free throws and scores in multiple ways. He and Kunkel are experienced guards who look not as strong or imposing as Craft and Caudle but they both are intelligent and don't have to be taught college bball speed.
Shooting 3's has been a weakness in 4 years of Steele. Miller said there are 3 types of threes to shoot. Some players should not shoot 3's. Hope Hunter, Freemantle, and Miles don't shoot 3's but I am not holding my breath on Hunter and Freemantle.

My only worry on Boum is his slight frame...is he going to be able to hold up in the big east? PG is still a question mark and it has been for a very long time at X. I can't remember the last time that X had a good point guard. Maybe Sumner or Q before he went to hell.

Miller said there are 3 types of threes to shoot.
Which are?

Which are?
Those who shouldn’t, those who can situationally when open, and those you plan to take 3s

Which are?
Sean said the real issue wasn't about how many three balls X shoots. It is about WHO shoots them. Shooting the three is NOT an equal opportunity event. And the categories are...............
1. Those players who never have the green light to shoot beyond the arc.
2. Those players who have a conditional green light with the condition being they are wide effing open.
3. Those players who not only have the green light but "who we will work so they have those opportunities".
No names were mentioned but I think most of us can read between the lines.
Sean was asked specific questions about players or groups of players like "front court" or newcomers. I am not reading too much into which players were not specifically identified and discussed but Hunter, Tandy and Tucker were not mentioned. Probably not a big deal but interesting.
The other point Sean made that I found important is he believes X can differentiate itself within the B.E. by playing an up-tempo (but disciplined) offensive game. I took that comment as the death knell for Steele's silly circle the wagons offensive scheme. Hallelujah!
Realizing it is only a radio show and the season is a long, long way off, I am so glad Steele is gone and Miller is back! There is much about which to be excited. I think we are going to like this team Drudy!

so, basically the same thing most of us were saying for four years..but yet the idiot who was getting paid over a million a year disagreed with. I almost feel sorry for Miami Ohio basketball fans...if there actually are any

One other question asked of Sean is if he would be interested in re-kindling the rivalry with dayton. He said he has a "love/hate" relationship with UD.
He hated them when he coached against them in the Atlantic 10, while coaching at Xavier.
He loved them when his brother Archie was their coach.
"And I will let you decide which side I am now". (I interpreted this to mean he hates ud with every fiber of his being).
We went on to compliment the ud fan base, Anthony Grant, and threw in some other platitudes. But then said he doesn't think that will happen anytime soon. He made it sound like Greg Christopher would never consider giving a game to the window lickers in dayton.

What a novel concept! Sounds like what a number of us have been saying for the last 3-4 years. And we dont even need to make $4M a year to have this keen insight.

Sean Miller didn't say this on his show last night, but it sounds like Boum will be given first look at PG

In discussing the newcomers, specifically Bohm, Miller acknowledged X has no true P.G. He described Bohm as a "combo guard" and communicated that lack of a veteran P.G. was not concerning given the "way the game is played today". I did not realize how slight of build Bohm is. Miller said he is 6'1" and about 170 lbs.
Overall, I found Miller's comments and answers to specific questions to be direct and lacking either hyperbole or cliche. He evaluated specific players accurately without the Travis Steele nonsense. I don't think anyone on this board could have listened to the show and not come away with confidence that Miller is staking out a sensible new direction and culture. Not surprisingly, but comforting nonetheless, Miller clearly seems to know what he is doing. A bit of a change from the last four years.

It is early in recruiting and it shows our emphasis and early interest in top talent and OKGs

I think the point guard comment is made by people who don’t have one, and think it’s a bit of nonsense. You look at the final four this year, every team has a true point… hell, unc had two.
I don’t expect miller to say “yeah we are effed because we don’t have a true point” but I think he’s doing a bit of coach speak there

Great show….
And not a single canned cliche in the bunch. How refreshing.
I think “Practice points” are now in the past.

Who in the hell keeps asking this UD question ? Next time I'd like Miller to suggest the questioner buy a house in Montgomery County. F**k Dayton.

It's been relegated to the status of the odiferous Corcoran men's room with the long floor urinals.
