We could also play them at the Phil Knight Legacy thing.

Also, WVa's non-conference schedule is complete except for who they'll play in the SEC challenge.
We didn't have a final non-con schedule last year until July 7th. Would be nice to know earlier I guess.

Huggy Bear vs X. Classic showdown

Love it. WVU probably would have been a top 3 choice if I had one. KU and Baylor then WVU. TT and OU would be in the mix too.

Thuggins back coaching in the 'tas for the first time since '04 will be cool though. Can't wait to boo him!

Wish it was a better WVU team lol, they got some interesting transfers so far, but man they were not good last year (as my number 2 team too), this is gonna be great for me, a whole lot of shit talking with friends, and hopefully a chance to make it to Cintas for this one. I'm so excited.

No. When they introduce him, there should be no reaction at all. Just dead silence.

In honor of the thread’s title, ‘Cause we need a little controversy, ‘Cause it feels so empty without me (him).

Perfect thread title for the return of the Huggs.

Or maybe the student section should be so liquored they vomit when he is announced. Would be a nice tribute. Some signs with the ABC's all jumbled up perhaps?

Cop: "How much have you had to drink tonight?"

Huggins: "no sir"

So many opportunities for great signs and jeering. Not sure the student section will even have the knowledge that they need to abuse Thuggins all night long.

He comes to the country club in my home town along with the football coach every year (part of a convenient store chain golf tournament or some shit), and every time he eats there he tips around $1000, so that along with his alcohol bill really keeps the fine establishment of Bunkers running. That's a nice trait I think?

Got to give him credit for that.

Maybe if you count his 3 years as an assistant for Matta.
He won the sweet 16 game vs Huggs.

In general, Xavier has always done well against Bob Huggins coached teams. I believe Huggs still has a losing record against Xavier, for his career. He has been a fun villain over the years.

All that aside, dude is one of the best coaches of his era. His players all love him and he is about to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September. After a couple hours of jeering the old man, I think it would be kind of cool to give him an ovation. Might be the last time he coaches against us.

I’m with you nuts. It would be nice for fans to keep it classy. He hasn’t been at UC for years, the DUI thing has run its course, and he’s one of the best to ever coach. At some point it looks a little silly to be haters.

Besides, it would blow the minds of the Clifton community college fans.

In truth, the level Huggins took UC to significantly helped Xavier. The better they were, the better beating them was. He's not who he was so hating him now is silly. He was good fur the rivalry and for X in the long term.

It didn't start that way against Huggins. He was 5-2 against Xavier in his first 7 seasons at UC; he could just as easily have been 7-0 if not for a pair of miracle wins by Xavier at the Gardens. Fast forward to Lenny Brown's Shot and he's 3-7 against Xavier afterwards if you also count his time at Kansas State (a loss at USBank Arena) and West Virginia (2008 Sweet 16). He never played Xavier while he was coaching at Akron.

I would buy this argument much easier for some of the great former XU coaches who some hold such ill will for around here. (Myself included).

Oh, he was great for the rivalry. I thought him leaving was going to severely hamper it. Mick more than made up for it though with his little man antics.

Bob Huggins is an ass clown who should be jeered, booed and generally harassed from the minute he enters Cintas until he leaves. Being a good coach doesn't make him less of an asshole.

He did have a lot of early exits for a stretch but in 2000 they made it the 2nd round for sure where they then lost in the 2nd round without Kenyon Martin.

I don't think they would have won it all like they all claim they would have but they probably make a deeper run with Martin.

The number 1, 2 (UC), and 3 seeds in their region all lost in the 2nd round that year. #8 seed UNC came out of the region.

Fixed that for you. Mick Cronin (during his UC career, at least) learned from the master.

Speaking of our old Leprechaun pal, what's the consensus on Cronin now that he has a Final 4 at UCLA under his belt, and what not, I still think he's an average coach at best, still was shocked that UCLA hired him (though I guess it looks like a good hire now)... I don't know how to feel about him other than I dislike him, a lot.

I don't care about Mick one way or the other. It appears he's a pretty good coach, when surrounded by talent. He's not a factor for X, so why even pay attention to him ?

Haha great point, and honestly I don't pay attention to him which is why I was just kind of curious in general. I do think there's a possibility he becomes a factor for X in recruiting battles if Coach Miller elevates us to the spot where we all think he's going to, but that's just guessing on my behalf.
