Xavier joins an impressive group of teams in this round robin event. Here's the information from Xavier Athletics:
"Xavier men's basketball will take part in the Phil Knight Legacy event in Portland, Oregon this Thanksgiving. The field includes Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Oregon State, Portland State, Purdue, West Virginia and Xavier. Each team will play one game per day in the bracket-style format on November 24, 25 and 27, 2022."

I will be there. Not many opportunities for me to see XU close to home. Would not miss this one

My daughter lives in the Seattle area. She is going as well.

Only thing that stinks is I would be surprised if Sean is coaching this one. I expect some sort of suspension heading into this season.

Can they just go ahead and announce the punishment, for God’s sake? I think the waiting to find out may be worse for me than the punishment. There should be some kind of “speedy trial” requirement.

A Phil Knight tournament without the Oregon Ducks? Am I reading that right?

Xavier is on the Legacy half of the tournament. Oregon is on the Invitational half with Villanova, Alabama, Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina, UConn and Portland. UConn was in the American when they originally came up with the field so there's an exemption in place for Nova/UConn.

From what I’ve seen on here his hearing (and assumed suspension) will be coming this summer

We open against Florida on 11/24 at 5:30pm EST on ESPN 2.
Looks like we would play the winner of the Duke/Oregon State game the next day if we win, and the loser if we lose.

As always in these tournaments, important to win the first game.

Exactly - you win game one, regardless of what you do in game 2, you're pretty much guaranteed Duke, then either Purdue, WVU, or Gonzaga in game 3 - great wins if you can pull it off and loses that won't hurt you.

Does anyone have the scoop on how to get Tix? Is there usually a block for XU or something?

Wasn't UNC, UCONN and Villanova in this as well? Is it a split bracket?

You had to request them through Xavier, and the request was due back in late May/early June. I don't know if they used their entire allotment but our group got all of the tickets we put in for.

So we could play WVU and Huggy Bear twice this year, eh?

Not sure. They also have a new coach I believe.
I have not seen them in any preseason rankings, except for one that did the top 40 teams for next season where they were #40. Xavier was #30 in that same ranking.
Speaking of new coaches, it would be great to have Miller back and available for this tournament (assuming he gets a suspension, like we suspect).
Recently I heard from someone who thought it would be 2 games. The only other thing I have seen that tried to put a number on it was an article in an AZ newspaper from May that said 9-15. I have to guess (and hope) that it is a lot closer to 2 than 15.

.
They do. That is why it was really odd when 2 BRAND NEW, interim replacement coaches, faced off in the NIT last year when X beat Florida.

Florida's going to have 2 starters back from the team that lost at Xavier back in the NIT - Colin Castleton and Kowacie Reeves. Kyle Lofton also played against Xavier as a member of the Bonnies in the NIT as well.

Kowacie is a hard guy to forget for unexplained reasons…

I had hoped to go to this, but don't think I can make it work this year. Still will be a great tourney to watch on tv and I hope X brings home some hardware.

How in the world is a (non season ticket holding) fan supposed to buy tickets to an event like this?!? One doesn't even know which ARENA a team will be playing in for rounds 2 and 3 until Round 1 is decided.
I'm seriously considering skipping family Thanksgiving to fly 2000 miles for this but can't figure out how to secure tickets for all 3 rounds.

Tickets actually went on sale today (https://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/rdkum3)
It won't be in the Xavier section, but as you noted the venues do change daily. Looks like Thursday will be at the old Memorial Coliseum, Friday at the Moda Center (current Blazers arena) and Sunday would depend on their bracket placement. 5th and 7th place would be at the Chiles Center on Portland's campus, but 3rd place would be at Memorial Coliseum and the championship at the Moda Center.
