Not to be Johnny Raincloud here, but for the four guys that said they were back, were they ever gone?
Are we moving to announcements every year now?

I think with a change at Head Coach this is more of an issue that just you’re typical portal activity, but it’s certainly not like the old days either way.

Prior to Kunkel, most indicated some sort of reflection with the coaching change. Clearly this is a coordinated plan with one announcement each day. It makes me wonder if anyone else is going into the portal.

Yeah, it certainly seems organized. I hope Sean gets everyone back he really wants, but the most critical pieces are in place.
Kunkel and Jack have played enough to be leaving, it's on a smaller scale talent wise but really no different than when David West said he was coming back. Plus we have a new coach, and the portal, this is probably just a "this year thing". And it's just another reason to kill time refreshing message boards to see the latest. After the last 4 miserable Springs, it's fun to end the season on a 5 game win streak, have a new coach, have a good core returning, and have good news to look forward to most days.
Great news.
Welcome back Adam!

Not to be negative, but I am rooting for Kam Craft to beat out Kunkel for starter minutes,

I would just be happy if KC got some playing time next year. - trying out that Kansas City thing to see if it sticks in my brain.

Welcome back young man. Great news! What an extraordinary turn of events for Xavier and its hoops program over these last number of days.

Seriously. This. The team collapses late. The NCAA bid dissolves. X accepts an NIT bid. The fan base is unhappy to put it mildly. X fires its coach. All is a mess.
Then, the assistant coach shows what most of us thought was there. They fight, they battle, they win. X hires Sean Miller. The fan base is ecstatic. X wins again and again and against the odds wins the NIT.
Most recruits stay. Most returning players stay. The core is good. The future is as bright as ever.
X has gone from what was likely a painful offseason dreading the coming year to an offseason I want over so these men can get back on the court.
Steele has a new job. Didn't even have to move. Coach Hayes has a new job in his home state. That worked out for them as well.
What a flippin' crazy turn of events. Come on November. Get here now please. Damn this is fun again.

I have been a bit on the fence with Kunkle. He seems to make great plays but not enough or consistently enough to outweigh the head scratching ones. The good news is we know he can make those plays. As was the case with most of the team, those skills were neither utilized properly nor developed. I'm hoping both of those will change under Miller. I can imagine Sean meeting with Adam and saying such as, "Are you are willing to work on things like shot selection, working within the system, distributing more effectively (etc.)?
Adam is ready to by into the Miller Program. If that happens, I think I can get onto the Kunkle band wagon.

Muskiefan, great summary of the crazy unfolding of the situation at X
It went from looking like things were going to end in complete darkness and despair for the school, the team, the coaches and the fans to one where a cosmic shift all of the sudden happened (Miller gets hired) the sun came out and everyone involved where the right fit and brighter days look to be ahead for all.
XU and X fans got what they really wanted with Sean.
Sean got what he really wanted with X.
X players returning got a coach who can get them to the NCAA tournament.
Travis got a gig where he can out-recruit in that conference and win more.
Jonas got to show his ability to coach and then land the HC gig he wanted.
Down got to go play for a coach he loves -closer to home.
Dante got to stay right where he wanted to be.
Craft and Claude got to meet the new coach and see X is still the right place for them.
Not too shabby.
XU Rocks!

Clearly this is a coordinated plan with one announcement each day. It makes me wonder if anyone else is going into the portal.
Perhaps Coach Miller is spending a day per person? Watching film, getting Dante's perspective, then talking to the player to understand where their head is at. Then the player needs to think on it, talk tot heir teammates, talk to their families, etc.. IF I am right, or close, and I do not have inside knowledge...it means they are all giving coach a shot and vice versa. And that's all we can hope for: that everyone is heard, everyone feels valued and each of these young men make a decision that ultimately is right for them.

I've seen a lot of comments about Kunkle's shot selection.
All I'll say is this: This guy can create his own shot. Period.
That is way too uncommon. It is essential in certain end of clock situations when you gotta get something decent up. Let your shot creator go to work.
