I wish he was coming back, but if that's his list maybe I shouldn't wish he was coming back.

Ya, it's going to be Georgia State

What is LMU? Loyola Marymount?

My money is on Georgia State, for obvious reasons. Although Pitino at Iona would be enticing.

By the way, if it's Georgia State, I'll be rooting for him and that team to succeed.

Not a shocker.

So you're saying he's not going to Wichita State then?

Wish him all the best!

EDIT: I did not realize Jonas’ twin brother was already an assistant coach at Ga State since 2019. That’s pretty cool! They also have a new 7,500 seat convocation center going up now. Good stuff!

Wish him the best as well. I really liked Dwon and enjoyed watching him play with passion.

We all understand that he gets dinged for his lack of outside shooting ability, but damn did he come into games and put teams on their heels at times when he was able to get to the rim.

Good luck young man.

This.

Down was so much fun to watch and he probably didn’t get enough credit for his ability to come into games and create a spark/ help his team go on a number of runs. Tough kid and a Warrior. Only love for Mr. Odom. Hate to see him leave, but best wishes to him on his new journey!

Me too! One of my favorite players. Good luck to him.

That was at times hard to come by last year. Dwon helped a lot. I expect a much more enjoyable, and successful, brand of basketball next year. It won’t happen overnight, but we will be pointing in the right direction.

Odom solid in debut. Started, played 30 minutes, game high 16, 6-6 from the line, 0 TO's.

5-16 from the field though. 0-1 from 3.

I think Odom will be very successful at Ga State, and I think Miller could have done wonders with him at X, but his shooting would have always been a pretty bid issue. I like what Boum can offer in that dept.

With Miller’s emphasis on getting to the rim, he could have done well here. But I agree having a PG that is not a good shooter is an issue. He was one of my favorites last year and hope he has great success at GA St.

Dwon continues. Double figures in every game.....very effective getting to the line, stone cold when there.

Not really surprising. IMO, he's a misfit in high caliber conferences because he's a zero threat shooting the ball. Good coaches simply eliminate his driving threat knowing he can't shoot a lick. And outside of a few games where the opponent let his athleticism take over, he's capable of putting up those numbers. Coaching is too good in the Big East for a one-dimensional player to be consistently productive.

His athleticism will be enough in whatever conference GA ST is in.

He played small too. For him being listed at 6'2' it felt and looked like he was much shorter. Solid rebounding numbers for a PG though at GSU??

Looks like Odom is playing and will be playing a boat load of minutes. Good guy. Wish him success.

If he could learn how to shoot from the three, he could be an NBA player.

If.

Rajon rondo could never shoot a lick, but did finally become serviceable after ten nba years and has had an extremely long nba career. It can be done, it’s few and far between that all of a sudden one can improve once you get to college/nba but it can be done. Someone should have changed his form a long time ago… now it may be too late.

It took Rando 10 years in NBA before his 3pt fg% crossed 0.35.

Congrats to Dwon. He is a special player. DoesnÂ’t bother me that he doesnÂ’t shoot much from 3. ItÂ’s better to limit those shots then pretend you do shoot well and keep launching them like some of the other players on the roster did during SteeleÂ’s tenure. Odom is a determined, hard working, athletic a stud. I would love to still have him in the roster. Good for him thought that he is able to help Jonas win games.

IÂ’d still love to know what the conversation was (if there was one) that lead to him leaving.

Was he leaving no matter what because he was so mad that Steele was fired?

Was he feeling pushed out by the new coach who talked about needing a PG who be a threat from 3?

Was the opportunity to play for the coach he loved (Jonas) at a college in his home town of Georgia just too good to pass up?

Does anyone else think there may be a little more to his departure. When Sean was at the podium, giving his introduction speech, I feel like I remember seeing some commotion going on around Dwon. He and a few others teammates laughing at something at a time when nothing funny was being said by Sean. As if Dwon or someone next to him might have said something disrespectful about the coach. Did anyone else see it?

I know it really doesn’t matter that much at this point, but for some reason that moment really is bugging me. Was Odom taking a shot at Sean? Was something else entire transpiring? It just didn’t seem like Odom didn’t really want to be there at that ceremony.

My guess is that it was that last thing you mentioned.

Did Steele love Dwon? I always thought Dwon could have played more, and wanted to play more, and knew he would play ALOT at GAST, not to mention he was buds with their new coach.

I blame Steele, like with everything else the past 4 years.

Dwon and his family are close to Kobi Simmons and his family. Kobi and his family resent Sean Miller for the way he was deployed at Arizona and think it hurt his pro career. Dwon had no interest in playing for Sean. However, he may have followed Hayes to Georgia State no matter who Xavier hired.

Kobi could have followed Kaiser Gates to Xavier.

Kobi wanted to come to X but was told by his handlers it wasn't a high enough profile school.
